Welcome to the tenth Tuning Competition on GTPlanet. Here is everything you need to know to participate.

How it Works

I start the competition every Sunday, listing the name of the car you are to tune, and which track the settings will be tested at. You will not have to tune at that track, but it is highly recommended, since the judges will be testing there.

The judges are:
  • Dark Elite
  • gregc
  • To Be Announced
  • To Be Announced
Once the judges are finished testing all the settings, they will rank each of them on the following categories:
  • Turn-in (entry to corners)
  • Mid-Corner response (whether the car under/oversteers mid-corner or holds the racing line well)
  • Corner exit (how quickly you can exit a corner whilst staying in good control)
  • Stability (rear end staying in line, car not 'jumping' or feeling skittish in turns)
  • Grip (start-offs, how much power can be used without the drive wheels losing traction? Does the car oversteer excessively?)
  • High-speed controllability (whether the car becomes 'frantic' and turns far too sharply at high speeds)
  • Handling while braking (are you able to easily turn the car while braking, and without going into oversteer?)
  • Acceleration (how good is it? Is there a lot of traction while doing it?)
Each category will be rated on a scale of 10 (with 10 being the best). Once the ranking is complete, all of the seperate ratings for a set-up from each judge will be compiled together for that one set-up. This is done with all the other settings, and the one with the highest ranking wins.

The judges will also write a mini-report about the settings, and how they felt driving them.

What to Tune, and Where to Tune At

You will have to tune the Dodge Charger 440 R/T @ Seattle Circuit. You must use S3 tires, and no ASM.

Rules

  • No ASM, ballast, or nitrous is allowed.
  • You can tune the car in any way you wish, as long you use a reasonable amount of parts (ie don't slap on a sports suspension and a 1.5 LSD and expect to be rated high)
  • You must list every single part you used in the PM to me with your settings. Failure to do so will result in a deduction of points.
  • You must PM Me your settings, do not post them here. PM them in the following format:
Code:
Tuner: (your username)

Deadline

Deadline is Friday, September 1st (subject to change).

Good luck!

Well this one should be.... interesting, based on some initial tests  Not so much Sleepless as Sideways (or Spinning) in Seattle :sly:

Permission to buy an orange one, paint 01 on the sides and a flag on the roof, and shout "yee-haw" as I go over the jumps please....

Sounds interesting.

I think I'll get a black one, then run though a railroad crossing and flip it over.hehe

I'll buy that for a doller

love the track! the car how ever, we have a love hate relationship.
I love it but it hates me. :nervous:

anyways ill give it a go

I´ll see if I have time to give this a go. I love the Charger, and I remember I had a decent setup for it about half a year ago. Shall see if can dig it up and improve it!

Before we start getting into Week 10, can I please ask what happened to Week 8's results? I've received a PM about my Week 9 setup, which tells me that the judges are finished with Week 8, am I right?

Week 8 results will be posted by the end of the week. I could post them now, but one of the judges needs until Friday to finish them, and I prefer to post everything once.

Duck probably hasn't posted them yet.

Yet again someone asks where the results for the last week are - can I just say that, for future reference, Duck doesn't forget to post results, nor to send setups to the judges, everything is done as close to the normal dates as possible. But we can't guarantee it'll always run like clockwork. We're only human, believe it or not :)

A lot of people don't seem to realise that judging for a week requires a lot more time than entering a setup - probably twice as much effort as a well-developed setup - so give us a chance! ;) 👍

Ok, just wasn't sure because I was receiving PM's from Wk9 judges and presumed that Wk8 judging was complete. :indiff:

Not sure why judges would be PM'ing you anyway :indiff: but yes, we have the Week 9 setups, only one of the Week 8 judges was unable to complete the verdicts in time for the deadline, so all the results have been held back until then. As Duck says, it's nice to post everything at once.

This thing is a beast

Handles like a oil tanker and has a 6K RPM redline

...................

I have a feeling this is going to be very painful...

We can tell;)

I have to do the same thing, school starts on Monday for me, so there might be a little bit of a delay for settings.

Sheesh, I've only gotten 4 settings...

I guess I'll be leaving this open for a while longer.

Yeah, mines not one of them, since school has started, I will be there from 7:45 am till 2:50 PM and then go to work at around 4 PM and then get home at around 11 or so and try to get some sleep. Wake up and do it all over again:crazy:

If I know the car well enough( 350Z GT4E) I can throw a set-up together in about a half an hour

Seeing I don't have much time to play GT4 or anything else but school and work, I have not time for tunning comp either. So expect a set-up every now and then, not weekly

Lol, possibly not a popular combination for a competition?

That's why I'm not in, I don't mind the old beasts as standard without AIDS, but when you give them mods and tell them to handle nice - well, you don't get results.

An oil tanker will always be an oil tanker~

Just an FYI, the car is the Dodge Charger.

True, but you can always try your best. :sly:
Eh? So this weeks comp has been extended? Okay I'll throw one together today and see what happens.
Mkay, cool.
