Welcome to Week 13 of the GT4 Tuning Competition. Here is everything you need to know to participate.

How it Works

I start the competition every Tuesday, listing the name of the car you are to tune, and which track the settings will be tested at. You will not have to tune at that track, but it is highly recommended, since the judges will be testing there.

The judges are:
  • gregc
  • Fat Boy Drifter
  • To Be Announced
  • To Be Announced
Once the judges are finished testing all the settings, they will rank each of them on the following categories:
  • Turn-in (entry to corners)
  • Mid-Corner response (whether the car under/oversteers mid-corner or holds the racing line well)
  • Corner exit (how quickly you can exit a corner whilst staying in good control)
  • Stability (rear end staying in line, car not 'jumping' or feeling skittish in turns)
  • Grip (start-offs, how much power can be used without the drive wheels losing traction? Does the car oversteer excessively?)
  • High-speed controllability (whether the car becomes 'frantic' and turns far too sharply at high speeds)
  • Handling while braking (are you able to easily turn the car while braking, and without going into oversteer?)
  • Acceleration (how good is it? Is there a lot of traction while doing it?)
Each category will be rated on a scale of 10 (with 10 being the best). Once the ranking is complete, all of the seperate ratings for a set-up from each judge will be compiled together for that one set-up. This is done with all the other settings, and the one with the highest ranking wins.

The judges will also write a mini-report about the settings, and how they felt driving them.

What to Tune, and Where to Tune At

You will have to tune the Hyundai Tiburon @ Grand Valley (long). You must use S3 tires, and no ASM.

Rules

  • No ASM, ballast, or nitrous is allowed.
  • You can tune the car in any way you wish, as long you use a reasonable amount of parts (ie don't slap on a sports suspension and a 1.5 LSD and expect to be judged)
  • You must list every single part you used in the PM to me with your settings. Failure to do so will result in a deduction of points.
  • You must PM Me your settings, do not post them here. PM them in the following format:
Code:

Deadline

Deadline is Tuesday, September 26th.

Good luck!

I'm guessing that the Tiburon is known as the Coupe FX in PAL regions?

It looks like the Tiburons I've seen around here. 👍

Oooh, a Tib! I've been meaning to build one just for kicks, but never got around to it. I'm in like Flynn.

Oh god, I can hear the understeer cooking right now...

What kind of engine does this thing got? V6? 4 banger?

I suppose. Does the Coupe FX look like this?

i dont know on this one.
At least try, submitting something is better than nothing. And if you don't want to submit anything, you could be a judge. ;)

If the Tiburon in the game is the GT, then it's the V6. If it's the GS, 4 banger.

RE: Hyundai Tiburon / Hyundai coupé

If they not the same they seem as near as bamn it to me

The same car, they just have different names in different markets.

Scaff

Ahh thanks by the way scaff.
Was'nt quite sure as there are two versions of the coupe.
an older one and then a more upto date redesign (not sure if thats the case with the tiburon or not)

Arrgh I really dont like this car in real life, its awful! Maybe it will be better in the game with 300+bhp and some half decent suspension.

It takes alot of tinkering to get this hatefull thing to go were you want it to and first and second gear really dislike your front wheels and the rubber they are shod in

Submitted my settings too

I hate powerfull FF :D. Those front tire really love to spin .
It turn out that I can't use semi racing suspension for this car, since semi racing suspension do not have stabilizer setting, and stabilizer is very very important to me :).

I like mine. I just did a baseline drive without any parts installed(forgot to turn ASM & TCS off. Doh!), then installed some parts and modified some settings I had from a Civic that I liked. Did a lap with it, and I liked it a lot. I only did a total of four laps.

Only problem is, I tried the NA and Turbo options. They're similar in power and speed, and I can't decide which I like the best.

What lap times is everyone getting around GV in this thing?

I have a setup that I bashed together in about 5 minutes, but I'm not going to bother if I'm off the pace.

The car just feels like crap, I hope everyone else is finding it as unforgiving as I am... I wont feel like such a loser then! :indiff: hahaha

I think I ran a 2'14" or something like that. I only drove for five laps, and I'm pretty unfamiliar with the course.

The car doesn't seem unforgiving at all. The turn-in is sharper than I thought it'd be, but that's easily compensated for in terms of driving style(just turn in later!), and it's better than epic understeer.

Oh, well I'm not too worried about my car then... I'm did a 2:08.984 on my second lap out, and completely stuffed the high-speed Esses on the hill, then understeered over a ripple strip in the revised section between the hairpin and tunnel. A 2:06.*** is easily possible with what I've got, If I could be bothered :indiff:

@DUCK: I have to head to work very soon, do you mind if I hand my setup in a little late, I only started last night and I didn't have time to take down the setup. Sorry :indiff: I will have it to you ASAP
