Tuning costs

Does anyone else think the game needs car specific tuning costs?
It's bonkers that it costs the same to fully tune any car.

I like the idea that, say you buy a new Enzo or Maclaren - then things like the fully customisable gearbox would be around 50k (or more) the engine work would also be very very high as well as suspension etc.

When you first get the game the budgeting for parts and working out performance priorities is part of the challenge, but this aspect disappears very soon.

At my level now (a=32 b=33) I tend to always have cash. Buying a new car and tuning it is very monotonous, going from page to page mindlessly buying everything.

Now if it was hugely expensive to tune super & hyper cars I would start to prioritise the tuning. Making it more of an achievement to have fully tuned cars in your garage...

Dunno, just a though...
 
The cost of an Engine and Body overhaul is dependent on the price of the car, so it would be logical for the price of upgrades should follow suit. Having said that the Engine Overhaul should really give the car a brand new engine for the costs involved.

Engine upgrades should be dependent on the power of the car.
 
I've been reading this forum for a while, and this actually finally made me sign up. I agree. I would love the upgrades to be be a lot more comprehensive. The upgrades feel way to clinical and not related to the car at all. The way I would love to have it implemented would be similar to how you buy upgrades for your car in reality. IE check upgrade companies, similar to the car modification places that sell the fully modded cars. It would be awesome if there was competition like different places as well. If you went down one upgrade path it should limit your path, or cost more to change your car back.

Also it seems odd there are animations for washing cars changing oil and driving cars into garages to recondition engines etc. It should not just be expensive / inexpensive to upgrade your engine, ( although it is ludircrous to charge the same price for an exhaust for a supercar or a old bomb ). It should also be of more consequence. You should be glad you finally got enough cash to do up your old 90's car...
 
Buying a new car and tuning it is very monotonous, going from page to page mindlessly buying everything.

I stopped doing that a week into the game and the game became a lot more fun ever since.

In my experience: after applying all the bits and bobs from the tuning store almost all cars start feeling the same and performing the same. By keeping them mostly stock (perhaps just adding sports-hard/soft tyres and an airfilter) you preserve the unique qualities of each car much more.

Most cars really don't need 'everything' installed to shine.
 
They should make that system better. the engine rebuild and repair costs should reflect the value and price of that specific car

This. Recently infact I've only been buying parts that can be removed, so that the B-Spec guys can win a race. Then when I want to drive that car I just remove all the parts to make it stock again.
 
This ^^^ I avoid irreversible tuning options whenever possible so I can take it back to stock when I want.
 
I agree with the partial tune and test or no tune at all side.
I tend to do a lot of time trials In practice at various tracks to see which is faster, and generally end up tuning out of interest to see what is achievable.

Just seems a bit silly to buy a 1,000,000 cr car and then fully tune for just over 100,000. It should be much much more, making the fully tuned car very valuable...

I agree, but it seems they did the fixed cost thing to facilitate parts gifting between players. Buying parts for friends becomes tricky / fiddly when they're model dependent!

Took the words right outta my mouth.

When u do stage 3 weight reduction and that 20k rigidity thing, buy racing hards/softs and all the rest you lose that unique feel the car once had.
Filter, exhaust and maybe a bigger turbo at the most.

On topic though : Yes i agree the tuning cost should be relative to the car.
 
Another reason to avoid tuning. So a sports ecu for a viper acr cost the same that a golf one and have much greater effect? One would think that high performance cars already have performance parts but no

Never understood the tuning parts gifting. OK, so some parts are more expensive than 1/3 of the cars in the game, but they are still so cheap everyone should just buy them themselves.
 
I'm happy to mod cars with more power but I tend to keep the suspension stock to retain some of car's original quality. The control still all under my right foot, I just have to be a bit more delicate.
