One of the most anticipated features for me was the ability to disable tuning, so we could race cars in "stock" form online.

I haven't played around with it much, but was having trouble getting a car to qualify. I assume all upgrades must be removed, but if a car has been weight reduced or engine tuned or has aero, can it be reverted back to qualify? And can you do it without going offline?

On another topic - was glad to see an expanded range of cars available for shuffle races, but again, was hoping for SO much more here - like limiting drivetrain type, or letting people choose from a selection of cars etc. The "shuffle base" numbers don't even seem to match up to anything. "Base" seems to be PP - 50 or so. Quite disappointed with the unrealized potential here :(

Engine and weight reduction tuning can't be undone, so no you can't revert the car back to it's original state. You'll have to buy another car.

Damn. That's really really dumb. They should automatically revert your car back to stock form, and they should list your cars at stock PP when a room is using this mode.

At the very least they should filter your car list by what qualifies.

What a lazy way to implement this feature... :(

agree! BUT THIS FEATURE IS AWESOME and I LOVE IT! :) but they have to make weigt and engine tuning removable OR make all cars as standart by default when this feature is enabled!!!!

Yes, unfortunately it seems too impractical to use as it is... I couldn't find any cars to qualify and gave up. I would agree that it could be a "great" feature... except that it's completely obvious and should have been in the game since launch. 1 year later we get some half-baked, unusable implementation. Way to go PD... again...

I think this feature is the bomb. I can see how finding cars in your garage that will work might be difficult. Personally I have multiple copies of cars that I did engine or weight modification to. Mostly I have always refrained from putting on the irreversible mods to cars. Best way to ruin the handling/balance of a car imo.

What a lazy way? :dunce:

It says unmodified and now you moan about it not letting you enter a modified car? :dunce:
Unmodified = stock car, no modifications

It's sometimes easier to bash PD than actually learn to read what stock actually means, right?

I have a good number of "stock" cars, or cars without engine/weight adjustments, but they're hard to find amongst 100s of other cars (haven't played in weeks, forgot what cars have what.) I can't organize by "stock" either, or put them in a stock folder.

It's doubly frustrating because early on, I used to keep a stock version of all my favourite cars. Except you quickly realize these cars were useless online (pre 2.0 patch) so eventually, I ended up upgrading all of these cars little by little so they could compete at various PP online.

So now, even if I go to the trouble of re-buying and MEMORIZING all my stock cars, how many other people will? You can't filter online races by "stock" mode either, so how will people find these rooms? This feature looks pretty much D.O.A.

Again, it's just a terrible implementation of a feature that could have encouraged me (and lots of others) to go back online again, but instead just made me angry and frustrated. PD has absolutely no clue when it comes to game design. Not a single clue.

So again it's PD's fault for your lack of organisation in your garage? Something's not right - and it's not PD.

It's not even possible to organize one's garage really. The only way to tell two cars apart half of the time is the color.

Use the new thing where you can save your tunes and make a stock one for each car :)

Can you make a stock spec sheet if you have already modified the car, or do you have to buy a new car?

How so?
I have over 1000 cars and my garage is perfectly organised and I know which one of my cars is tuned and how it's tuned.
Everything's possible.

@smartb0mb color is an easy way to distinguish cars you haven't done engine or weight mods to. ( paint them all the same hue i.e. black) then use the set up sheets to easily put them into stock trim. as for finding lobbies I have been running lobbies with "No Tune " in the name.
Also there is a social group for racing with this restriction here

How can you organize your garage when the order is essentially random?

All you can do is color code your cars, or use the favorites list, which people have probably used for other things already.

A "Stock" filter would be VERY nice. I would love to race "stock" cars. Everytime I get into a lobby with a pp limit I get left behind on the straights pretty badly. I don't know what they do to make them so fast.

Yep, colour would be one way to go. I appreciate the suggestions guys, but really PD should be doing this work for us so I'm blowing off a bit of steam here. It's just so frustrating to see a feature that's 90% there... but still so far off. I expected more, and I don't think these are unreasonable expectations because they don't involve new cars, new tracks, content or complicated programming. Just some very basic settings and options.

One thing I wish they'd do is where that car logo/image thing next to the name of the car you rae using at the top right of your screen, is to have it colored the same as your car. That will make it a bit easier to distinguish.

Agreed 👍

Yes it's easier, but I also do know what "stock" means ;)

I just spent some time with it in a private lobby with tuning disabled, doing some experimentation.

- power limiter doesn't count as tuning. So while you can make fine-grain adustments (down) to meet a PP limit, you can also de-tune a supercar to compete with low PP cars.

- all cars with any weight, power or aero upgrades (and chassis reinforcement I imagine) cannot be adjusted/reverted to stock to pass regulations. Yet they still clutter your list of cars to select from.

- there's no way to know what PP a car will end up at with all parts removed until you actually go and remove them one by one yourself.

- if a car doesn't pass regulations, it's up to you to go find what part you forgot to take off.

- there's no "street/production" car type filter, so people can just enter tuners or race cars into your "no tuning" races.

Hi Smartbomb, I noticed that cars bought before the update won't qualify even if you kept them unmodified. I've just done some testing. I bought a new GT300 car, and everything is ok. Then tried two others I didn´t even knew I had (maybe got them from tickets or UCD), surely stock, and they get rejected every time. Same with NASCARS. Tried downgrading stock adjustable LSD and other factory parts, same thing.
There's no point in class restrictions unless everybody gets new cars or PD fixes that bug, otherwise rooms will be filled up with maxed out cars :(

EDITED: further testing, this only happens with racing car classes. I think maybe it has something to be with built in parts that are considered as upgrades in road cars.

When will you kids stop your endless whining. What is so difficult about the concept "stock", that you don't understand?

You could try sorting by make, model, horsepower, date acquired, order driven, number of times switched. . .any of those will organize your garage for you.

I would love a revert to stock option. The equipped mods will be unequipped and weight/engine tuning should be 'uninstalled'. This feature should be free however if you wish to engine tune/weight reduction again, the standard cost still applies.

is adjusting your brake balance classed a tuning?
if it is and you put it back to 5/5 will it allow you back on the track?

cheers

That's how I do mine! 👍
