Opera Paris forwards?
"You vicious, heartless 🤬!", to steal a John Cleese, Monty Python quote!

The results of about five laps aren't very impressive: 15.340 - 45.138. I don't think that any car entered in this competition will take well to the bumpy and narrow streets of Opera, and the Shelby is no exception. Its bias towards understeer means that you need to be patient to guide it through the turns, and it likes to take off tangentially to your current turning circle when you hit a bump. At least I like this course, unlike what seems to be a majority of GT4 players.

power is useless if you can't deliver it.. and believe me, this track has oversteer instead of understeer like those crappy american tracks.

I can play better with this amount of horsepower at tracks like Opera. The car needs oversteer. 👍 And believe me, it delivers it like nothing else. :trouble:

Starting early on this one in the hope that I can actually get some time on it. Splits so far:

15.744
46.614

I've done several T1s quicker than that but keep messing up later on. Im losing loads of time in T2 tho

I'm not getting any more oversteer than I did at Infineon, which means that I'm mostly combating understeer. I did improve by almost two thirds of a second in spite of the car's wayward behavior over the bumps (however, this might be my only chance to finish ahead of Smallhorses because I imagine that the M5 is even worse in that respect than is the Shelby!). My new splits are 15.078 - 44.988. That T1 is my fastest yet, and it's possible to push into the 14s, but that requires surgical precision. T2 was a little off of my best, which came on the best lap I've completed so far; unfortunately, although it was .009 better than this lap, I grazed the inside wall in the right hand turn following the hairpin. I thought I had gotten away with a close call when I watched the replay from the view that looks backwards on the car, but the analyzer revealed a single-frame speed loss of 1.1 mph. :ouch: My hairpin and sweeper were both forgettable on the lap whose splits I have written here, but combined, they probably cost only .3 seconds at most. I suspect that a perfect lap in this car at this track would be more than .5 seconds faster, but I'll never reach that level of flawlessness.

Yet to have a crack at this one yet, but I'll try to get some splits up later on.
Not that this is required, but for anyone that's interested, here's a photo showing my Seattle & Infineon laptimes:

Nice, thanks for showing Small.

T1: 15.518
T2: 45.381 :D

Cheers,
Corey

T1: 15.815
T2: 46.613

The car is getting good here! My spilts are better, I'm still feeling the car out. Bumps sometimes are upsetting the car alittle bit also! How's everybody else coming along with this?

T1: 15.336
T2: 45.257

Seen quite a few early 15.2's, but I always somehow stuff it in the Bus Stop. I'm having a blast here, but it's just as equally frustrating. I'm finding the quirks of the car and trying to use them well.

Cheers,
Corey

T1 15.725
T2 46.535

The weight of the car, is holding it back.... I had to do a lot of driving as, I didn't save my time. But I starting to get the driving part down pretty quick.... I should enter more of these!

Where's the RVV faction this week, there's only ABud with a time up so far? The garage owners surely have to post some times too?
I just had a go with the RVV GT-R.
I hate it. :yuck:
It seems much too much like a drift setup (very little needed to provoke massive oversteer) than a race setup and is geared waaay wrong for this track so it just doesn't suit my style at all. I cannot make this car be quick here, with the greasy cobble surface seeming slippery enough as it is without the wandering back end adding to the issue. Sure it's quite fun to slide around, but it's just not quick. Sorry Roj, but that's the way I see it. :guilty:

I'm heading back to the BMW, although it's a beast to thread through this track. :scared:

T1 15.526
T2 45.896

don't believe I'll get anywhere near the JHoS Shelby this week. :nervous:

*Edit*

I'm sneaking closer though...;)

T1 15.495
T2 45.599

I've got problems in the second sector, because of the sharp turns 👎, but the car feels the fastest in the last sector (especially on the long straight and in the followong turns). 👍 Mixed feelings...

I'll send my entry now to you, Corey, so please let me know when you get it. Just give me a quick feedback with PM, VM or a post in this thread. Thanks! :)

might improve still, the first sector probably..

Wow, a quiet week, just 7 drivers with splits up so far and only a few hours to go. :(
East Coast Tuners & Muscle Car Garage seem to have gone a.w.o.l.
RVV is down to 2 drivers, MFT & AMMT down to 1 each.

I've just found myself another 1/10th at the line, but with much the same splits as before, 15.5xx & 45.5xx.

Think I'll submit now.

I'ma go yell at Roj and get a time for myself together.

SVX may get a time, I'm highly unlikely, as GT4 and all my games are having trouble deciding whether they want to work or not. I'm probably going to finish the RUF Yellowbird Cup and hopefully get GT5P for Christmas, and call it quits with GT3 and GT4 for a while.

I got her. ;)

Hate to see you go Lancer, but I've had my own PS2 laser issues before and fully understand. Hope both Rotary and Roj show up. We currently have 8 times in. :nervous:

Roj won't be around for this cos he's a git and wouldn't send his time in  And I'm questioning whether to bother or not; my times are far enough off here to be useless.
