Finally a track that isn't entirely hateful.

I don't like it near as much as forward but tis not so hateful as the previous tracks.

Hey, I really like Infineon and Opera, and Seattle Reverse isn't bad, either. Trial Mountain, on the other hand, gets a :indiff: from me. As with Seattle, the chicane at the beginning of this lap will be very frustrating, :yuck: but many of the later corners are quite pleasant. I think that Smallhorses is poised to dominate here, once again, since this track is really pretty similar to Infineon.

What. A. Beauty!

I love Trial Mountain! As a GT ever-present, it's one of my better circuits, though I'm more adept at it forwards than reverse.
I did love the Infineon week as it's a great flowing circuit, and my adopted "home" track, and I like Seattle as a street course because it's not so claustrophobic as Paris. The Opera track in itself isn't too bad, but they should take a break from their Escargot & Pernod and re-pave the damned thing!

Should be a fun week, can't wait to get started, except that I'm tired and a little tipsy right now, so I'll pass until tomorrow morning!

I just did three laps to get an idea of what to expect, and as I thought, the Shelby works quite well here; it likes the banked corners. My splits are 16.363 - 44.906 - 1'06.020. Also, as is always a question at Trial Mountain, are the concrete sections legal?

Being one of my personal favourites (From GT3 and the Polyphony Digital Cup) I was pleasantly suprised this showed up in the mix.

Austin343

If it's paved, you can drive two wheels on it.

mazdaman
Can i join?
Who do you plan to drive for?

T1: 16.092
T2: 44.423
T3: 1'06.248

Cheers
Corey

Any verdict on the concrete sections that Austin mentioned?
They can really affect a laptime, and one wouldn't want to be disqualified for using an unauthorised area.

Verdict released in the post above yours, Nick. Placing into top post.

Cheers,
Corey

Oops! :guilty:
There was a 40 minute window between me starting that reply, during which my folks called from UK, and me finishing it off!
Obviously you tree'd me in that time!

So...Are the painted yellow sections o.k. to drive on, or are they off-limits too?

Marvellous, a first 40 minute run at this has yielded the following:

T1 16.103
T2 43.878
T3 1'05.132

A little unhappy with the tidyness of the last few bends after T3, :indiff: but they're clean, if a little slidey, so there may be a little more to come off the laptime if I can sort those out. 👍

Smallhorses, those are frighteningly fast splits. I thought there was no way that anyone could beat them, and to some extent I still think that's true. But after an hour, I finally got a lap with which I'm reasonably satisfied, whose splits are 15.648 - 43.768 - 1'05.041. T1 was my best ever and I could go faster only by driving myself crazy with the number of restarts. Unfortunately, the next three sectors were all somewhat lacking, and although none were bad, I could probably gain a tenth at T2 and T3 and two tenths at the finish. If you break 1'05 at T3, I'm toast; I haven't seen very many T1 times below 15.85, let alone 15.65, and the car doesn't have much more to give between there and T2. As usual, the real trouble is piecing all of your best corners together into one lap, and I've been very unsuccessful at doing so here.

I'm consistantly hitting 15.6's right now but the yellow-stiped bit before the straight keeps getting me, as well as the sharp right between tunnels.

Currently 15.672, 44.032, 1'06.028

T1: 17.232
T2: 46.666
T3: 1'09.628

Not the best showing for me! Still the weight of the car is killing any great showing for the car!

I think I'll have to concede this week to Austin as well.
I was planning to have a couple more runs at this during this week.
Unfortunately my job in SF got cancelled so I've been forced to fly out to Utah
(where it's 30F chillier than at home
cold.gif
) instead.
Won't get back until Friday night when we've got plans to go to the theatre, and have plans to get an Xmas tree and go to an Xmas party on Saturday, so I don't think I'll have time for another run.
Oh well, there's always next week. 👍

Smallhorses, my last sector is pretty slow, so there's no reason to concede defeat, even if you can't run any more laps. I think I'm done, too, because I just don't want to deal with ruining so many good laps as I undoubtedly would if I were to push hard for my best possible time.

T1: '16.908
T2: '45.795
T3: 1'08.163

Starting to make a strong run here.... Drifting around some corners!

Sorry, this should have been in the discussion thread.

Over there now.

Submitting my times...Had a hard time with that first Chicane and the uphill section after it; Seems like i'm just not good enough to go fast like the big boys do...

it was the T3 section that killed me.. those damned uneven rock walls..

T1: 0'16.266
T2: 0'45.055
T3: 1.07.483

Hate to do this at such late notice but I'm not going to be able to access the computer until tomorrow sometime, so the deadline is extended until tomorrow, December 13th, 12:00 PM GMT-5. Happy racings folks.

Cheers,
Corey

Just to make sure, you do mean noon and not midnight tomorrow, right? :) I'm about to submit with my current lap, regardless, but it would be good to clarify for those who would be able to use the extra time.

That's noon tomorrow (Even though I prolly won't get into the computer until three or so. My Uncle's planning a hostile takeover of the keyboard.) I'll release the next track before my departure this evening.

Cheers,
Corey

Ok, so it turns out I did get a little extra time to run! :D
My wife's volunteering to pet the kittens at the local Humane Society for a few hours before we go to the Xmas Party, and I expect to be fully hungover until noon tomorrow :guilty:, so I won't get any more time in. I have, however, wiped 0.660s off my previous best laptime, although the splits haven't improved drastically. It was mostly about tidying up the dreadful final sector.

T1 15.996
T2 43.893
T3 1'04.930

Submitting now.

I did blow a 15.7xx & 44.4xx lap in the bend between the tunnels too. Pretty irritating! :irked:
