Tuning secrets?

Does anyone know if there's a secret to tuning your car's engine in order to yield higher power / hp outputs than other orders? And if so, what's the secret?

There is actually no secret.
I like to buy all the mods, then mix and match till I get a HP figure that I like.
The only thing that I can warn you about is the SVT Mustang.
If you do the Oil change before you actually drive it, it will decrease the HP. If you drive it till the oil is "dirty" and it starts losing power on it's own, then you'll not lose as much power.

Anderton, the only "secret" there is to engine power is the virgin oil change trick. For every car you buy or win (except the Mustang, apparently), go straight to the garage and change the oil befor you drive it at all. This gives you approximately 5% increase in base horsepower for only 250 credits.

and of course when you run the car and brak the engine in,the HP will start to increase.But just like any real car as the engine has certain mileage on it,it will decrease aswell.

By tuning the gears you cannot make the engine put out more hp but can utilize more of the power band so you are using as much of the engine output as possible.

Just be VERY aware of the massive top speed loss when short gearing and lightened flywheels are used. It's all well and good increasing accelaration but when you cant do more than 200 down the final straight, your in trouble.

As a general rule, use normal gearing for test course and super speedway, and experiement for the rest.
