Hey what up guys, I've been trying to tune some of my cars for the tunnel but im having trouble, any tips you guys give me?
Like suspension work etc?

Tunnel = drag racing?

Drag racing + suspension = irrelevant.

Work on gear ratios and power curves.

Or tell someone which car you're looking for, and what speed you're trying to hit.

SSR7
I'm trying to tune my Black Edition
I heard having the wing makes it slower ever since the new update, is that true?

So the suspension doesn't really have a big part in it? It's mostly the tranny?

SVX
Suspension would help grip wouldn't it?

Only if it's not a rolling start. I think he means some of that Japanese highway driving (name please?) that basically involves 100-300 km/h drag races, for example. I can't speak to the specifics of such racing, I can just say that sometimes the races are rolling starts, meaning that the suspension won't do much.

Getskyhigh,

get that wing off! You'll be much faster. The transmission will be the next step after removing the wing.

Yeah I took it off aha I was working on it and I have the last gears pull I just need to fix my launch gears and figure out a good launch

I have the LSD 60-60-5, I'm new to SSR7 tunnel runs, I like 1/4's better :), but I don't know where to start as for the suspension work etc etc for the SSR7 tunes

I also heard that you can't always do what you do for 1/4 and use the same stuff on the SSR7

Any tips?

Actually, the bit about the wing had been true since the beginning.

And yes, suspension, as well as LSD, have a great impact on acceleration and launch. Especially ride height.

You should take a gander at my tuning thread (link in my signature), we're probably the only tuning garage on GTP that has tunes specifically tailored for SSR7.

Since they're tuned for competitive racing on that track (I also host a Wangan racing tournament, link should also be in the signature), your can rest assures that each car is tuned to achieve its maximum speed.

I would recommend jacking the rear and slamming the front of these car's suspensions if you're only gonna drag-race them. Though I wouldn't advise such a thing for cruising or racing.

Happy Driving!!

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

NEVER, NOT EVEN ONCE. HOW? HOW CAN YOU?!?!?!?! HOWWWWWWW?

I am now absolutely bewildered.

Solid - so does a wing affective 1/4 or just for top speed?

Ok I'll look into your tunes and I'll tell you how I like it
Thanks man :)

Had me up in stitches for a bit as well.

Well, since it's you RJ, a quick chat with your monkey friend should let you know what's true and what's broken since your hiatus.

As I was saying: if you floor the throttle for a drag race, with a rolling start (tunnel racing = 100 - 300 km/h,) suspension barely matters.

Wing vs no wing depends on the car and intended use.

Cars with very little traction issues and low maximum downforce won't benefit at all from a wing, cars with bad traction problems but low max downforce will benefit from a wing for the 1/4 mile but not necessarily any longer distance, and those that have enough available downforce to "aero trick" will generally be fastest with a wing regardless of traction.

Remember, aerodynamics only work at speed... So if you're just barely spinning the tires, it's not going to have any effect outside of added drag... But if you have unavoidable wheelspin for any real track length, it will help.

Nah, I'm not even worried about drag suspension; a quick session in whatever I feel like messing with will tell me all I need to know about what's changed or not. I'm just laughing so hard that Mel thinks suspension has no effect on drag racing when it's actually a larger effect than gearing (you can get your gearing as good as you want, it won't do a damn thing without proper suspension... All you need to make a good suspension setup work right is a relatively basic transmission tune that I'm very open with sharing).

Edit: Even from a rolling start suspension matters a lot. In fact, no, a ton. Faster the car, the more it matters. Would you care to race? Pick a car buddy.

Sure. Daihatsu Midgets. You can change the suspension as much as you want, I'll focus on transmission and engine. Who will win?

Tunnel drag is from one end of the tunnel to the other, that's just about 3km. You always do a standing start and, for real, it doesn't really have much to do with all that wangan stuff.

Solid is right, GTR with wing never worked.

Want a basic suspension?
min/min
max/max
meh/meh
meh/meh
meh/meh
(only basic and only for awd, don't fear to experiment with it; I'm personally using other values on the BE)

0.0/0.0
0.00/0.00

(always for awd cars)

Let's go a bit further...

LSD
Screw it

Torque Split
45/55
(the standard for most awd cars, but not all)

Tranny
260-265mph tranny topspeed (don't confuse it with "max speed"!)

No one told me that. Merci/danke Dr. Slump. :)

Relatively pointless in this case, simply because it absolutely isn't the same as wangan.

True, but you can still make good use of the gearing since that itself is a good enough starting point for fast times.

I'd recommend the my Supra RZ and my R33 has best many Enzos and Vipers down the tunnel, though the Vipers have kicked my ass plenty .

Also, Slender's Esprit, "Midnight Rose", and Mercedes SL, "Golden Wind", are indescribably fast. In 3 seasons of the Wangan tournament, he only lost twice in that SL.

Tried out the tune... I'm the slow one haha

What do you mean, exactly by you're "the slow one?"

Yeah, the link is to my tuning page where all my tunes are located.
