i dont get what ur saying?

Some cars take a while for the turbo to kick in. So he wanted to know if there was a car in GT3 that had this problem. Its still around today. in some turbos

The Escudo's the only one I can think off the top of my head. And it's got major lag.

There is still lag in GT3. As stated, the best example is probably the Escudo. When not tuned well it lags a lot. It is not as bad as it was in the first game of the series. I remember that anything over a stage 2 turbo upgrade would create some serious lag in that game.

no i got what ur talking about and the only one i can think of is the Escudo and that sucks when its not tuned right

Your dead right with a stage 4 turbo you had to be pressing the accelerator the moment the grid screen came up, it took from just before the 3-2-1 countdown untill the green light for the revs to build to the red line!;)

If you want to see turbo lag, stick a turbo 4 into a car with the mod available. Then change the auto gear settings to the highest level possible.
kideng

The worst lag I've ever seen has nothing to do with a turbo...

Get a VW Beetle 2.0 - the normal FF one. Add on the Sports ROM. Drive it (and gasp)... :D

In real life, my dad owns a Turbo Bug, and it has some Turbo Lag, but definetly not as bad as the Escudo. Even though im comparing 2 cars from a game, and reality. Though GT3 is very real to reality.

Any small car in GT3 with a "maxed" turbo and no drivetrain mods will exibit a hardy amount of Turbo lagg..but the Escudo does have the most apparent..even if it is unrealistic levels of lagg...

Oh yeah..it's me

I think my miata, or was it my PT, i dunno, but when i had first started out, the turbo would always quit on me, then like, 8 secons later, it'd boost back up again

Definitely the Escudo, the Beetle 2.0 has another horrible case of it...those are the only two I can think of now...but most of the cars under 20,000 have horrible turbo lag.

I am getting sick of puffers. It's time to get some blowers in the GT series! :D

Oh, and some Nos too.

no No NO NNNNNNOOOOO
not nitrous oxide...............no way not in GT:yuck:

but i agree with superchargers:)

thanks for the posts guys. hmmm i had no idea that turbo lag looked like that. i thought it was the time between when the turbo switched on and the time when u started feeling power. i just assumed turbos don't kick in until a certain rpm... and that twin turbos eliminated that kind of lag...

if the delay in the escudo is turbo lag then i've seen it all over the place yeah. the cars in gt1 and 2 had HORRENDOUS lag. just like liquid yellow said, if you let the skylines revs drop below about 5000 during a race you were really in a spot of bother cause it took about 3 or4 seconds to get the power back. :D

Turbo lag is related to the size of the turbo in relation to the size of the engine spinning it. A large turbo has a large rotating mass, and will take some time to spin up. The good news is that it will give a good dose of boost to compensate. Its true that some manufacturers use twin turbos to cut response time. Some have even used different sized turbos to make the boost affect a larger chunk of the power band.

The small engine GT3 cars mimic this effect well. The EPP get gobs of power by pumping huge amounts of air into a small engine. It takes a big turbo to do this, hence a big turbo lag.

The 70's Porche Turbos were famous for turbo lag and caught many an amateur driver out by swapping ends when the boost came on in mid corner

MG

EDIT: Turbo lag is also affected by the amount of plumbing between the exhaust ports, the turbo(s), and the intake.
