Hey guys, just wondering what the difference (in-game) is with these two upgrades? Is one better than the other or does it depend on the car/track etc?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

depends on the car, and depends on what events your racing. Since superchargers and a nice boost in low level rpms, its good to use with a track with lots of turns. I think the way the game does superchargers and turbos stupid... we should be able to combine the 2.

why don't people actually try clicking on supercharger AND turbo (all three stages) for the cars that can have either/or before they ask stupid questions? It's not rocket science to see which gives more HP gain.

Supercharger is constant power. In most cases, peak power is less than peak turbo power.
Turbo has lag.

Easy peasy.

Can you have both in real life?

yes, they're called supercharged turbo engines.
Also the game is very vague on what you are actually getting when u buy a turbocharger. Am i buying one? or two to get those hp increases? I should be able to choose to get as many turbos i want (of course with extreme increases in price) single turbo, twin-turbo, tri-turbo, quad-turbo and even 8 turbos are possible and each turbo can be different sizes.

uh, how many cars do you hear about that have more than two turbos? A handful. Not enough to warrant putting the option in GT.

I believe it was the TVR Speed 12 I have that could be S/C or turbo and I went S/C because it put out more HP than all 3 turbo kits. And I have a soft spot for s/c since I'm going that route with my real car.

true, just that 2 turbos of different sizes as an option is all i really want, and the ability to use with superchargers.

One properly sized turbo will always prove to the best overall setup. I don't think games can properly comprehend turbo blade technology or variable geometry.

Turbo charges have come a long way now. Modern Turbos are significantly more efficient than their predecessors with added technology like variable turbine geometry and lightened components.

Yes, they're formally known as twin-chargers. The supercharger feeds air into the turbo at low-revs thus eliminating lag. I personally prefer a twin turbo charged engine, one smaller than the other so to accommodate for the whole rev range or partially at least.

This stupid game doesn't even let you do brake upgrades, so do you really think they will ever incorporate parallel or sequential twin-turbo set-ups?

And yes, sequential twin-turbo's are the ish. Realistically, though, hardly worth the money in real life. I'd rather not have a turbo at full-spool while driving my daughter down the street to day-care.
