This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

I also tried to read between the lines and decipher how I see the game going forward. Im leaning into your theory but that being said I also see it as them stalling further,The way they phrased their statement gives me the impression that the game's been put into maintenance mode: any major bugs will be addressed, but there won't be any new content if it hasn't already been finished ahead of this. Better than just outright abandoning it, but still it looks like what you see is what you get from now on.
Hopefully Micros~1 higher ups don't decide to rush its end of life period, but knowing their business practices... yeah, not gonna be very surprised if it disappears off storefronts by the end of the year.
Honestly, it's just got me wondering how much stuff is having to be scrapped that may have had planned for later on. Even with the regular content updates having already wound down, the game still feels like they had at least a couple more things left to add in.I also tried to read between the lines and decipher how I see the game going forward. Im leaning into your theory but that being said I also see it as them stalling further,
( which stalling sucks as it's not truly honest and upfront) until they get the remaining staff set up and organized, get a new gameplan/roadmap for maybe end of the year into 2026 and then figuring out how to phase off the game earlier than they anticipated. A part of me still sees them eventually adding a few more pieces of content with some here n there fixes for about a 6-12 months then move on to the next project.
Isnt FH developped by Playground Games ? I thought Turn 10 didnt do much on the new FH games ?this pretty much says "yea we will support the game but dont expect a sequel anytime soon" , well Horizon 6 will be the focus
T10 is likely primarily focused now on supporting ForzaTech as an engine. Playground are developing both FH6 and Fable using that engine. Any additions to FM will probably be the bare minimum to keep it going as a live service.Isnt FH developed by Playground Games ? I thought Turn 10 didnt do much on the new FH games ?
At this point, a PS5 version of Forza Motorsport really isn't too far-fetched. It could be a way to save the game and Turn Ten through sales and revenue, considering FH5 itself is doing very well on PS5, sales-wise.Hopefully adding all these events back into the game will lead to a PS5 version of the game. Dev's working for Turn 10 like Devs everywhere are degree educated so how can you decide to remove one player content from a game that was lacking content in the first place......
Yeah, it’s too late for me. I already got Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa Evo, as soon as the remaining 20th anniversary liveries can be unlocked I’m uninstalling Forza and jumping ship. Not a very reassuring statement, if they wanted to calm down the fans they would have said the motorsport series will continue with a new game in the future.
Saying they will support FM8, which at this point it's basicaly an event rotation, is a bit eh 🤷
I played both of these games and I see that this is the only advantage FM2023 has over GT7, and that's it.I hope Motorsport will continue car list so much more appealing than GT7 💩 😜 anyway let’s see and hopefully more support for Forza Motorsport though I dunno
Not just a car list. If you have a high end sim rig, the physics and FFB are a lot better in FM. No aids, sim steering and in cockpit view and GT7 doesn't come close. Every car in GT7 feels the same. They add these SUV's and they might as well be cars. No inertia, no weight transfer, no different slip angle.I played both of these games and I see that this is the only advantage FM2023 has over GT7, and that's it.
But In the rest, in FM2023 the engine sounds aren't so much good, compared to previous series games, there's no music on Gameplays, most of race cars on the game are paid DLC, there's a very low tracks variety, and the career mode is focused more on limited time events, that you need to do for get some cars that can't be purchased on the dealerships.
While FM2023 has a more appealing car list that GT7, GT7 is a much better game in overall.
I played both of them so I can talk about.
I understand, I respect your point of view, each one with yours. Not just a car list. If you have a high end sim rig, the physics and FFB are a lot better in FM. No aids, sim steering and in cockpit view and GT7 doesn't come close. Every car in GT7 feels the same. They add these SUV's and they might as well be cars. No inertia, no weight transfer, no different slip angle.
On top of that. The racing is just better in FM. After they did some of the last fixes to the AI, the racing is great. I've gone side by side for two full laps at Mid Ohio, Ai right next to me, getting in front and then overtaking them again, and repeat. You don't get that in GT7. Not one bit.
The Free race menu is way better with a ton of more options including multi-class racing. In GT7, what, you have to buy multiples of the same car? That's hilarious.
FM surely isn't perfect but the updates they were doing were fixing the issues and they actually listen to their community, unlike the other game.
The career in FM is doing championships. That's what it is. When was the last time GT7 added a new Championship?
That's all we do in regular PC sims anyways, create championships and run them. THAT'S the fun. The racing.
I own both of them and can use them anytime I want, so I can talk about it.
We have 3 new sims coming out and one that just released on the PC side.Maybe sim racing has run it's course. Be grateful for what we have. It's a video game after all.
I hope Forza Motorsport can have a great return by the Playground Games hands.Forza's issue is the gameplay is not satisfying either as sim or an arcade racer, the evolution of the game has fallen behind other franchises in terms of innovation too. Maybe Horizon 6 will save the franchise, sure hope so.
The problem with that plan is that, even before its launch, FM2023 was intended as a "game as a service". That's why they didn't call it "Forza Motorsport 8", after all.Not a very reassuring statement, if they wanted to calm down the fans they would have said the motorsport series will continue with a new game in the future.
It was a dumb decision to make Fable on Forzatech engine, retooling and repurposing a specialized engine to a different genre is always a mess. We've already seen a story like this with EA forcing devs to switch to Frostbite, a good engine for shooters, but a complete ******** when Bioware tried to make it work with a third person camera and RPG systems, even by their third project they were still struggling with it. Can't imagine trying to make a creaky old racing engine do complex human animation, facial animation, RPG systems, combat, interactive NPCs, etc. If they used Unreal 5 it would've released years ago.Starting off-tangent first, I hope Playground Games can get the new Fable game out. I was surprised when FH5 was announced before Fable got any ETA, its as if Fable had to be pushed back so Microsoft could earn fast buck by launching a guaranteed seller title while fans had to wait once more for any Fable update. But the 2026 window for Forza might just be another delay wrench thrown at this project.
As for the future of Forza, I can only see FM and FH merging to become an all encompassing Forza title to not lose their FM audience, like Assetto Corsa Evo which aims to set an example of merging open-world and sim racing too.
Sorry but this made me laugh.of course more pressure to PD and Gran Turismo
