All the time, even if im weaving in and out of traffic, I say " I at least gave them a heads up"
Pretty much, yes. It's meant to have you merge in with the flow of traffic but all it does is create drag racing and traffic accidents.

That's Michigan for you. It's funny when I'm in the truck with my uncle and he does that. Most memorable, we got ahead of a Mustang GT. I think it gave up though...

It's not fun or funny, it's reckless and dangerous.

I always use my turn signal, simply because that's what you're supposed to do.

I've seen signal use depend more on the AGE of the driver. persons over sixty rarely bother to signal,
Funny, around here senior citizens tend to use them all the time, including when they aren't turning.

I try to use mine in all instances of turning and lane changing, even in marked turning lanes. Oncoming traffic does not know for sure that you are in a turning lane

I just look at it this way, the more I signal the less likely I am to have an accident caused by someone else who didn't know what I was doing.

When I turn I look in the mirrors and around like Im supposed to, If there are cars nearby i.e. 3 car lengths or less I indicate, If their(sp?) further away I dont bother most of the time.

I want a PA system to describe to Missouri drivers what the stick to the left of their steering wheel does. :irked:

I use mine all the time, without fail. They may be watching... :scared:

Because of my typical commute choice, it annoys me to now end when people don't use their signals every time they turn. When I'm driving I typically use them all of the time, because that is what dad taught me. However, when roads are empty I typically don't use them in lane changes.

If their(sp?) further away

They're ;)

-There- "Look over there"
-Their- "Look at their sweet ride"
-They're- "If they're (they are) further away"

*This grammar lesson brought to you by Creamed Corn "Damn that's nasty! :yuck:"

On the subject of not signaling, I think most of us have come to think that not making an effort to show people your intentions is just plain rude.

Does anybody know what you should signal if you are at a street that ends in a T and another one starts 10 feet down the road continuing the same way after another T? It's enough of a turn to feel awkward signaling a straight but not enough to actually call it a turn. Is signaling right and then just cutting across the best choice there?

All the time for me, no matter if there's nobody around. The only possible situation in which I may not use the indicator is when I'm passing a car parked on the side of the road and have to move over to the other lane to make it. Even then I try to remember but occasionally forget.

About the roundabouts, I don't know what the rules are in the rest of the world but here we're supposed to drive straight into the roundabout like it was just a straight road, and turn on the indicator before turning right, out of the roundabout. It's just one corner to the right when the indicator usage is concerned. And people not indicating that they're going to exit the roundabout are pretty much my pet peeve on the roads.

Yeah...I live in the philosophy that if they can see me, they can sue me if I don't use it.

Also, at least in Michigan, most right hand turn lanes can go straight...we call them "burn em lanes" in which you can try to beat the car that is going straight to get ahead of the pack.
We have these, too...but they occur in the center lane, aimed directly at the large median.. :odd:\

Cheers.

We have those, too. Also, we have a couple notable and, in my eyes, notorious roads that are well wide enough for two lanes. The vast majority of people treat them as such. The reason they're in fact one lane is because lanes traveling in the same direction are always separated by some sort of white line.

My cousin and I have both found ourselves "making people mad" because we "weren't in our lane" on this road. And however illegal it may be, we've both actually stopped people in the middle of the road and had a little conversation to inform them of the rule. They didn't try to pass me the rest of the way down it. One down, many, many to go, because everybody besides us who do it right don't seem to see a problem.

We have a couple of those one-lane-road-but-people-treat-them-as-two-lanes roads around here, one I travel every day on the way to work. It annoys me to no end. If it isn't sperated by lines it's only a one lane road (as far as the flow of traffic is concerned).

I am happy to see a high number of people who use their indicators all the time, way to go guys 👍!

All the time.. especially since I own a small car....

I use them all the time. the one thing that bugs me though, is overuse of the indicators. Indicating to continue down the continuing road. Sure it may in theory make sense, but more often than not, it ends up confusing for other people.

All the time, unless there is no other vehicles or pedestrians around in which case i won't bother wasting the effort. If i'm on a motorway i'll always indicate when changing to an outer lane but not when moving back afterwards. It's the same when overtaking on a normal road.

I vote for option 2. I hate using mine in a dedicated turn lane. Just so happens that yesterday I entered a right turn only lane coming up to a stoplight...older woman coming towards me across the intersection waiting to turn and go the same direction as I wanted to. Now I didn't have my blinker on, but was in a turn only lane. She didn't pull out until I had stopped at the stop sign, then proceeds to shake her fist at me as I wait for her to go bye to pull out. Whatever old woman...

I voted for All the Time, but could have voted for Other. I pretty much always use my turn signals and it is mainly out of habit more than anything. Occasionally, I will forget to use a signal because of not thinking about it or just plain forgetting to. But for the most part, I always use mine, including when driving alone.

The only time I don't use turning light is when I am in indicated turn lane (as in left or right only). If it's one of those lanes that are either straight or left (or straight or right), I will use the turn indicator.

I use it all the time for anything I should. Even if I'm in a "turn-left only" lane leading to an intersection I am indicating.

I almost always use them, for lane changes, turns...there are times when i'm in an especially gloomy mood and forget, but that's rare.

NOTE: I only use them when exiting the town's Square, though. (A roundabout with shops around it and a nice little fountain in the middle.) no need to use them entering, as you can only go around one way.

All the time. I got a little sloppy soon after passing my test but I've started doing it again, along with actually checking my mirrors when indicating.

Bad, I know.

No, no, good habits to have...I'm usually checking my mirrors like I'm at Daytona on a 4-lane or bigger highway.

It was bad in regards to how I gto sloppy for a while. It helps that I have a cycling fanatic of a friend who gave a rant when I rentioned I didn't check my mirrors much anymore.

She also said her dad thinks I cut him up once when I went past him on his push-bike, which I think is abit much as I was probably doing atleast 10mph more than him when I overtook.
