Turn On Ideal Line Display In License Tests

GT3 had the ability to toggle on/off a line superimposed on the track that showed ideal line, braking and acceleration points during license tests.

I've seen it pop on a few times in GT4 in the license tests, but I can't locate how to turn it on or off.

Could someone point me at how to toggle this on/off?

TIA

its the r3 command - click the right thumbstick and the lines will appear - i think you have to do it when the timer is counting down 3 2 1

i think the logitech pro has an r3 button - i have the wheel but ive only had it for 1 day now and i can't say i remember [at work now, itching to get home to get back to my license tests!]

but that line is what helped me get all gold so far [b and a tests]

the tests have always been uber hard for me - i get gold on a few but mostly its bronze and silver...

Haha I didn't know that :dunce: forgot about it completely actually, got all the licenses done now but will definitely come in handy when getting those last elusive golds I'm sure :)

I didnt want to ask that. glad you did... I too suck complete ass at the tests. I have like one silver so far..gold? no way maybe in a few months! :dopey:

I've tried, using the DS2 controller, to toggle the racing line on/off. I used the right stick and pushed it down, clicking R3. Vice versa, I've tried it with L3 (left stick button). Both don't work for me.

If I'm doing something wrong, please drop me a clue. I haven't tried it on my DFP yet, but am anxious to try.

Thanks,

I really hate that last coffee break on S lisences were you have to go throught the maze and knock down all of the cones. In order to get GOLD you have to beat it in 1 minute 33 seconds or somthing like that. I completed it in 3 minutes, I'm a little off the mark on that one.

Anybody else not like this one?

I wants the cars!

And I usually press the right stick down when I am using gas or brake so the line disappears just when I need it. *sigh*

coffe breaks don't count towards gold completion percentage or gold/silver/bronze prize cars. Or so I read. Skip it and see if you still get gold all 3 cars. I think you will.

The cheesiest thing is that you can get the guidelines on the braking challenges. I mean all there is accelerating and braking, and the guidlines tell you exactly what to do. (Not that they're hard or anything)

Don't wish to rock anyone's boat here, but the licenses should be 'progressive', as in you should be getting 'better' as you move along the various tests.

Using the guide line early on is a great way to 'see' where you should be at any given time, and where your brake zone is for the various types of turns.

Not having the guide line displayed in the later tests is a GOOD thing, as you'll need to be on the ball to get decent times.

The Prologue test got 'tougher' as you went along, but the earlier ones certainly helped with the trickier later ones.

I guess the point is, try to learn something from the tests, as opposed to just getting them over and done with.

If at first you don't succeed, try again glasshopper!

If you really want more help, you can turn on the steering wheel icon under options for all the license demonstrations.

Heh, I thought the same thing when I first saw it, although I didn't suck as hard as you - my first time was about 2:20. I got a bright idea after that and mapped out the maze and the path the demo car takes. Here's the result.. ;P

As to why would ppl go for all gold, this is the same as when Edmund Hillary was asked why he climbed Everest. His answer: "Because it was there." XD

@ellswrth, thanks for posting this little tip - I also wondered where there guides had disappeared to. Pity I've left the early licences far behind tho lol.. :indiff:

thank you :) I'm inside the licence screen so as not to lose days. 1 day per gold for me. rather than exiting at a silver and losing a day. So I couldn't get to the main menus. Thanks for the reply on the default setting!

As much as I wish the guide lines were in the other license tests, this is a good point. We should get some practice without them.

I found early on that guide lines helped me to silver, but actually taking different lines got me gold.

Each to their own...

Wthout the racing line is very more realistic... and harder!

yesterday i was about 2 hours playing to get 5 GOLD Medals at international B license!!

Today, i'll try to turn on that racing line and see how it helps

The racing lines were nice but the License Test are easy enough in GT4, although I dont have all Gold. And does anyone eles think just passing the license test is much eaiser than GT3? In GT3 it took me and my brother forever to get the Super License, but in GT4 the last test is the only one I didn't pass on the first or second try.

I don't think you can. I think the racing lines are only available in License B and License A?

Sorry!
