This is just something I noticed when doing the license tests, that when I complete a lap and then redo it, my ghost appears. Normal? Well, if you improve your "lap," twice consecutively, then your ghost disappears. I assume this is because the game thinks that you'll just keep improving (just a theory). But then, if you either fail, or pass, then highlight "exit", then go back to try it again, your ghost will re-appear.
I started using this when I'd find that my ghost would not appear, or would annoy me as a distraction. So basically, just highlight "exit" (anywhere but from the pause menu) and your ghost will reappear or go away.
