Check to make sure your brake pedal isn't stuck. That happened to me before and I had to clean out the potentimeters. Basically what I had happen at the race in Rome except that time it was the accelerator pedal and it wouldn't allow me to get completely off the gas. I'll check the replay and let you know.

Yes Greater Toronto Area. We are getting 25 cm of snow tonight. Normally we don't get much this way.

Ahh we had a storm yesterday here in Tampa around the same time.

Sorry about the start to race two guys. I was in the car on the grid, no black screen, but when the race went green my car wouldn't move. It just sat there with the revs bouncing off the limiter. Strange.

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago. It turned out be my controller. I left it on the couch and my son sat on it when he came to watch me race. Thank goodness no one was behind me!

Your brakes looked fine. Almost looked like a clutch problem.

I had a very forgettable race. I can't get through these races without a pit stop, too much front tire wear.

At least online racing is cheap and I don't have to worry about waking up in a hospital. BTDT

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. You are over driving the car in an attempt to go fast. You need to slow down to speed up. Look at it this way. Long distance runners do not go out and sprint early in a race because they would only tire themselves out for the remainder of it. That is what you are doing with your front tires. Race the race, don't race the car. I hope this helps!

I WAS behind you and had to use my cat like reflexes to swerve around you.

By the way, I haven't been free for Thursdays, but I may be able to get some races in this series now. I've been using a green helmet since I started GT5, but I see that it's already taken. Since I don't want to completely switch my suit and helmet color combo, I'd like to use a helmet that is green AND silver, if that is okay of course.

Ooops, sorry about that. I am more careful where I leave my controller now. :) A Green and Silver Helmet will be just fine. You are going to love the FORMULA 1 Racing Series!

I guess the problem I am having is the lack of feedback. Compared to actual racing, the game has no feedback that I am used to. I guess I do not have a good way to reference my entry speed (the game looks very slow to me, I really want to brake much later than I do), I really miss having peripheral vision, that is how I judge speed. Difficult to judge the amount of braking without feeling it, difficult to judge the affect on tires without being able to feel how much grip I have. Definitely have never judged tire wear/grip by the sound they make. Some of it may also being to abrupt with the joystick while turning. Tends to be more of a sawing motion than smoothly moving the stick.

I have been working on being smooth, but the lack of feedback will take a while. The game gives me about 20% of the feedback I am used to. In the offline game I adjust the car to even out tire wear.

A little background, 8 years motocross, then 2 years of kart, then 18 years of road racing motorcycles (raced up to the AMA Pro level). Decided to retire in 2008 while laying in a hospital in Birmingham AL (we were at Barber). I also worked for 5 years as a road racing school instructor.

I have many things to unlearn. It will just take time and patience.

Yes, I saw your pictures. I was going to ask you about that, but now I don't have to. :) I grew up riding dirt bikes. I was never allowed to have a street bike. :grumpy: Are you using a wheel?

My mom loaned me the money for my first street bike when I was 16, still ride one (BMW R1200RT). I liked riding dirt bikes, but was never very good at motocross. Much better on pavement.

No, don't have a wheel. Hope to get one later in the year. My wife does not like video games very much. I could spend quite a bit of money racing, but not on a wheel.

Spent most of my road racing career riding 2 stroke gp bikes. With those, entry speed was everything. My problem was never having too much entry speed.

Did you ever race at Laguna Seca, If so what year or years. Maby I saw you race.

Most of my racing was east of the Mississippi, west coast races are a long drive. AMA purses were quite small. Even if I could have won, it would not have paid for the weekend. I usually finished in the upper teens out of 40+ competitors. Anything out side of the top 15 paid nothing. Being frugal, the cost for a pro national weekend for me was over $3000. If you crashed, it would be way over that.

If I had to guess, I would think Nurburgring GP/F might be as challenging as Suzuka. What do you guys think?

Might try a few quick laps before I call it a night.

1:31's are the time to shoot for.

Some of the breaking points are more difficult to judge than Suzuka, but the track is shorter, so learning the track will probably come quicker.

Dunlop-Kehre and Haug-Haken were the two corners that gave me the most fits while first learning the track in the F1's. The back end wanted to kick out if I went in too slow at Dunlop and hitting the breaking point just right for Haug can be a challenge. That and GP/F is a tad bumpier then Suzuka. Both great fun though.

Reminder, there will not be a Formula 1 race this week because the race would have been on Valentines Day. If you guys would like to do something on Thursday we can have a Fiat 500 Race at Nurburgring if there is enough interest.

Love to join the league.
Helmet Color: Silver
