Special Events>Grand Tour>Tuscan Night Race

This race is extremely difficult for me. I cannot see where I am going or anything lol. Anyone else having trouble? If you got bronze or higher what did you do to beat it?

yeah i had issues with it too. turned my exposure up and my TV settings a bit brighter and made sure to use the high beams. but the key comes down to watching the reflective signs on the turns, and paying attention to the course map to identify the upcoming corners. it took me several tries to get through it without spinning out (i restarted at spin-out assuming i wouldn't make the time) and i eventually got silver.

Yes that is pretty much correct, it will definitely take you a few attempts. I know it took me quite a while, but it's just a matter of learning the course and where the difficult spots are.

Good luck. 👍

Turning on the driving line will make the event much easier, thats how I passed it.

Has anyone got gold in this? Silver is the best i can do so far, you really need a squeeky clean run for it.

Silver here too - like most of the special events, golds are acheived by practice, learning the car and the AI (as they do the same thing each time).

This event was pretty damn fun to run with pure darkness going into the 2nd half of the event. Try learning the course without the racing line, and lifting from the accel. Might take a bit longer, but you will appreciate how nice this event was setup from PD.

No. This event is based on the fact that they got lighting completely wrong. As if the Murcielago not having HIDs in the game isn't wrong enough, the lighting acts like you're pointing a flashlight at the ground directly in front of you. Then, the high beams actually make it dimmer for some reason, and of course the cars in front of you don't light up anything.

PD ****ed up lighting big time, and it makes night racing annoying as hell, when it was something a lot of people were looking forward to, myself included.

Try not to use the brake too much (I think PD messed up the brake balance) and the tail will slide out. Throttle control is much safer. Also is the car starts to slide out, don't countersteer. The AWD nature of the Murcielago will pull you through the exit if you apply power instead of countersteering ~~ now if I didn't bump the 1st place car I would have been first. But saying that I never want to do that race again, EVER.

Be smooth and don't push your luck. The car you're driving loves to kick the tail out if you drive it too hard. Leave the best line on, but use it for brake references rather than as a lane guide. I only managed silver my first time through and then gave up on it. Came back a week later and got Gold first time through.

Don't worry about head lights, just watch the map and the best line brake markers.

Wow, just finally got gold after about 3 hours straight. Gamma, brightness, and contrast maxed out, as well as the in game brightness. My projector bulb wasn't happy, but it made the race so much more plausible. Was having flashbacks of Mission 34 from GT4 (which I never came close to winning). The thing that bothers me the most is that for pretty much any GT license/mission/challenge, etc., the winning line in the game is the winning line in real life. In this case, the only way I stood a chance was cutting corners like mad, and braking late enough to frighten most rally drivers, not to mention using the other cars through the corners.

Got gold pretty easily. Extremely fun event, didnt bother with the racing line or messing with brightness settings, I just learned the track and the car and drove fast.

I love this event actually...the car is quite tossable and makes for some lurid slide....didn't have too much problem seeing...

Took quite a few tries but unlike a lot of the other event where its stupid DQ or whatever, the mistake is mine and I really wouldn't mind the driving. Only real issue I guess is the Lambo feels quite slow for something with that much power...

I actually think they got the lighting right, ever tried driving at night along a winding country road fast, when there is no street lighting? its very scary and challenging.

Managed a silver first go, if you are stuggling probably using chase cam and a ds3 would be easier as you can see further.

No they didn't. The only thing the lighting in this game replicates accurately is riding down a darkened country lane on a bicycle with an old, and faulty, dynamo light.

I've driven along many roads at night where there is absolutely no ambient light what-so-ever, and the headlight coverage of an average car picks up so much more than what GT5 shows.

I silvered it second go, I found that bumper cam and driving line made it much better. Still not enjoyable, but better.

Definitely - I lived out in the sticks for years and used to have about ten miles of unclassified road to cover on the way home from the big smoke.

The lamps in GT5 show absolutely nothing at all - even on my elderly Micra (my first car, gawd bless it) showed more of the road than the lights on the Lambo!

well the only way i done it and got silver is put the racing line it will really help since its glowing right? btw i dont usually use racing lines just sayin:sly:

My strategy as well...memorised the track & passing spots, so darkness no longer a problem. Learnt how to handle drifting the Murcielago, and drove real fast aiming for clean overtaking and hitting apexes.

Agreed. Extremely fun event, but took quite a few restarts for me to gold.

My gold lap, check it out, hope this replay helps you gold chasers out there.

This is a Guide to doing the Tuscan Night Challenge on GT5 when doing the Grand Tour.

i added 50% brightness while editing so you can see the track better

Driving Line was Off
Game Brightness +1
Map was Off
TCS was Off
ASC was Off
Active Steer was Off
Spin Reduction was Off
ABS was 1

Becareful when doing this with aids off(except for ABS) as the car will oversteer without warning, the track will get dark after starting the race and you will have issues seeing so increase the games brightness when you start.

If you are going to use a driving line, dont listen to it as it is for the AI's brakeing point and well the AI takes corners slowly,(this is seen on the first turn as i dont brake and the line will tell u to brake if you use it), but find your own braking point the allows you go throught the corner as fast as you can control the car.

Learn to control the car when the back steps out and use it to go through the slower tighter bends faster(as seen after passing F40)

also dont use highbeam, just use lowbeam as the lowbeams lightcone is brighter and longerthan highbeam, but the lightcone fall off is larger

Weird, I had a very different strategy than those to videos above. I kept the default aids on. I didn't want to try drifting at night, knowing how tail-happy the Murc is. In both of those videos, I was passing the first three cars sooner, but you guys got the F40 and the F430 much sooner than me. I was definitely loosing time on those two consecutive hairpins where you meet and pass the F40 (you guys drifted those perfectly!). I noticed you guys braking in spots where I would lift a bit, and lifting in spots where I would stay flat, so that's how I made up the time.

For one, I noticed that you can stay flat out as you pass the Countach. Get as close as possible to him, as the left side of the hill will barely get you airborne, unlike the right side. (same goes for the large hill near the end of the long straight), from here, you can come down from the hill with some serious momentum. Get the lift-off and the drift just right, and you can pass the 512 on the left side (in the dirt a bit) before the next curve.

I actually liked the Tuscan event the most out of the Grand Tour, with the Ferrari Monza race in at a close 2nd (AI gave a good race to the end 👍)

For me it all came down to learning the curves of the road and how to time the rhythm of the hills rising/falling with visibility loss, because headlights seem to light the road in front and not much else (found myself staring at the road more than anything, like a moth to light:scared:)

I got silver on my 6th try, finishing right on the bumper of 1st, despite driving a lambo I never felt so under-powered, lol

(also, is this the only way to access the Tuscan course ?)

I think that track most of the time is randomly generated, so I don't know if you can duplicate that layout. The event track itself does not change.

I actually had a friend over the first time I tried it and it was fun having him look at the minimap and give me "pace notes". I remember one of the corner is a up hill 2nd gear left hander under a timing banner and he just said 2 right and I didn't even see the corner and I just turned in.....good time...

this could be related to you using ASM, you could go around bends without fear of the car stepping out, plus since ASM makes you slower lifting takes you to the corner speed needed as brakeing out do this for us as we could drive faster without it.

Since all drivers are not the same you can use aids or not it depends on your style. I came in 2nd(1 second behind lead car) when i had ASM on
