I was really excited to win this car, but then when I won it I was disappointed BIG TIME. It seems like the Speed 6 could beat it on a race track. It had horrid acceleration and nothing seems to be good about it. So please can someone tell me what this car is good for?:)

Er, racing! :p

It's just one of those cars that you have to practice on to get used to - It's sort of a Speed 6 on steroids. The 6 is much easier to handle, because it doesn't have such a ridiculous amount of horsepower, and it it probably has more even weight distribution (the 12's big engine in front makes it easy to light up the rears).

The key to driving the 12 is to brake early (not because it sucks at braking or anything, but because you simply don't realize how great of a velocity that damn thing is going!), be gentle on the throttle when exiting corners, and don't mash the gas when approaching a sweeper - Instead, find out how fast you can go so that you are constantly accelerating, but not sending it into understeer hell when it starts to lose grip.

horrid accelaration? I dont believe youre talkin about the speed 12, perhaps the mini but not the 12

Yeah, this car has one of the fastest acceleration (non F1s of course) in the game...but you need control as well.

I actually like the speed 12. You just gotta give it the right setting, upgrade it wiht max hp, reduce weight etc and you got a pretty good car. Check out the Speed 12 in real life. I kinda like it just gotta be silver.

Speed 12 is my baby! Stop saying horrible things about her!

Horrible acceleration? Give a standing start at the beginning of the Tokyo straight and this will arrive at the end 5s before almost any other car - stock - in the game, including the GT1 class racers...

Most cars are going to have bad acceleration when the tires are getting no grip. :D

Turn on TCS if you have it off. Or just let up on the gas a little so that the tires grip again.

It also might seem slow because it's such a large car. I used to have a Chevy Lumina Z-34, that's kinda a big car. And if you weren't watching it, that car would sneak over 100 mph on the freeway without anyone in the car noticing. It felt like it was only going 70, until you happened to look at the speedometer.

Well, me and my friend would often have races between my GTR 34 and his TVR Speed 12. The cars would match up pretty well, but I lost many times sometimes because I was just trying to hard, or an error, or just because the Speed 12 is better. :P But as far as acceleration, I agree that the Speed 12 sucks. I've fiddled with my gear settings on the GTR and it accelerates very quickly with a top speed of 220mph (roughly). Anytime, on any course, off the start, I laid into his TVR, but he would eventually catch up again due to it's 140-200mph acceleration. Maybe we just need to fiddle with the gear settings.

The Skyline has better acceleration due to it's 4wd system. 1000-odd BHP is just a tad too much for RWD and no downforce!

An unmodified Speed 12 can out accelerate any other unmodified car, and that includes the GT-One road car.

Like I have said before the TVR Speed 12 is one of the suicidal cars in the game. It would like nothing better than to hurl itself into a ditch.

And in fact the GT-One Race Car too.

Out of the blocks the poor thing will spin it's tyres til Thursday, but once 3rd gear comes, don't get in the way.

Well maybe the Speed 12 should get a huge aluminum wing from Checker or steal it off a Civic Hatchback. :D

Yeah, we figured the AWD and wing helped. I just get so damn hyped up when talking about the Skyline though. :D

Same for me with the Speed 12 - but I like to drive it stock. The Speed 12 is a different gravy when it's out of the box - it blows all but the TS020 Road Car away. That corners significantly better though (wings. Git).

As famine said, the trick to the Speed 12 not to increase the HP.

Personally I like to leave it stock apart from an LSD to give a bit more traction when accelerating out of corners, then set TCS to 2 and ASM to 0. Weight reduction doesn't hurt it any. Adding the NA tune is a big no-no though as it buggers it up.

It does take a bit of practice to master, but it's bloody quick and an absolute hoot once you get the hang of it. Definitely one of my favourite cars, plus it sounds gorgeous! I've got two, one in Reflex Purple and one in black with black rims. The black one looks evil! :D

Aah, get one! You know you want to! I suppose it does look a bit bat mobile-ish. I always thought it looked like the kind of thing Darth Vader would drive! :D

Don't forget to look through the different wheels and fit the blackest you can find!

[James Earl Jones voice] The torque is strong with this one! [/James Earl Jones Voice]

The Speed 12 may be big, but it's not nearly as heavy as a road-going Lumina. I don't remember the curb weight offhand, but I'm pretty sure that it's well under 2000 lbs.

I'd say that you were closer about the no grip part. I've had good luck by watching the throttle on the launch, leaving TCS at about 2 or 3 depending on the track, and not putting any more power into it. Fergoshsakes, isn't 800 HP more than enough for you people?!!
