Twice as many pit stops as AI-drivers?

Why does my B-spec driver go through tires like they're nothing?

This is the worst one so far, but usually it's about the same. This is the first time I've actually DOUBLED the number of pit stops of the 2nd place guy.

My jag pits every 4 laps too.

Even when I'm on 2 it still pits every 4 laps.

Why care when you are 7 laps ahead of second place. more power more laps more pits. That car's not even in the same class as the AI.

I no what you mean, i made about 60 pitstops during that race, the last place spoon s2k only made 20, still he was 47 laps behind at the end

using really soft tires will do that, as will the speed you tell your driver to run. I never use anything softer than hard race tires, and if your car is annihilating the competition, put it on speed 1, you will get more laps out of your tires.

Like GVan said, soft tires will do that plus, im not sure, i think if you keep overtake on, the AI driver doesn't take the best racing line and drives more wrecklessly.

That is true when the AI driver is around other cars. He will not draft them, rather try to pass them the entire time he is behind them, driving off to the side. I think if theres no car in front your driver will follow the ideal racing line.

I, too, have noticed that the B-spec driver goes through tires faster than the competition (even if he is on RSH tires and they are in similar cars). Sad thing is that he still is better on tire wear than I am...

Out of all the cars I've used I don't think I've had one that could go further than 4 laps on Nurburgring.

How do the AI cars manage to go between 6 and 7 laps?

I got only four laps out of my black R92CP, so don't feel bad ;)

You do know 4 laps Nurburgring is 83,2 Kilometres? Thats damn much, in real life this would be a 3 stop F1 race(cause the F1 circuits are less tireeating than circuits with lots of corners after each othre, so the tires can't cool down)

The monitor says hes using hard front and super-hard rear.

Just as a note, if you are getting alot of tire spin while accelerating, make sure TCS is set to max. If you are still getting alot of tire spin, lower the ratios of the lower gears. Also, if the car does not handle neutrally (w/ under/oversteer), you should tune it so it does.

(some things may increase tire wear)
To correct oversteer:
  • Increase settings on the limited-slip differential
  • Increase AMS System (Oversteer)
  • Decrease AMS System (Understeer)
  • If using AMS, set the break balance ratio higher in the front
  • Toe-in (a positive setting) will lessen initial oversteer but will cause oversteer while turning

To correct understeer:
  • Toe-out (negative settings)
  • Increase AMS System (Understeer)
  • Decrease AMS System (Oversteer)
  • If using AMS, set the break balance ratio higher in the rear
  • Decrease settings on the limited-slip differential

Also, decreasing the LS settings and lowering the suspension will lessen tire wear. Some corrections, especially those for heavy understeering cars, will slow you down alot in turns.

Using the Chapparal 2D it would pit every 6 laps religiously regardless of Overtake being on or off. However, it should have pitted on the 5th because right after the 6th started the tires would start going orange.

So I came close to duplicating what the computer can do. I think only the toyota I was going against pitted less often, but he was going pretty slow. =)

I got my B-Spec driver going on the Speedway 150 miles endro, I just looked over to the TV after a while, about half way into the race and noticed that he'd been pitting every 9 laps and he'd gone 2 laps behind. I had hard tyres on too, so I took over for the last half of the race and I only had to pit every 17-18 laps, I was lapping faster than the B-Spec driver too.

I always use up my tyres faster than my B-spec driver. Probably my driving style. Generally he'll almost do the same as the AI cars, but if I'm making him push (usually in the opening laps) he'll use them up faster and pit in 2 laps soon, approximately. But certainly, putting him on 2 or 1 will make the tyres last a lot longer...

Alright, now I'm running the Audi A8 race car.

Overtake off: pits every 7 laps
Overtake on: pits every 6 laps

I'll do the 24 hours at Nurburgring with every car in the game if I must! I will figure out the system to longer lasting tires. =)

I'm doing the 24 hour ring race right now and everyonce in a while I'll take over for a few laps. But my B-spec driver will go 6-7 laps while I can only go 4 laps. I know the reason is that I have B-spec set on Cruise and when I drive I go all out since I post about a 20 second lower lap time and what not.

When I drive I'm also harder on fuel.

putting the super hard tires on will generally get you more laps in the end, but you do lose a bit of steerability -- really -- it all depends on how you race

Me too...................I think it is because we like to under-break and I also like to "full throttle" out of corners. Where as the AI is more "controlled" with acceleration and breaking.

I've also noticed that I am around 5 seconds faster, per lap, (except in Nurburgring, the AI driver is better than me) than the B-spec'er.........perhaps it is the game's way to keep us on our toes when using B-spec mode, keeping the competition close so we won't try and wander away while trying to win without really "trying"!!!

The B-spec driver can't seem to do Super Speedway to save his life.

I did the Super Speedway 150miles on A-spec (only took 50min in a fully souped Minolta Toyota and that includes pit stops), but when I was doing the last series of the Professional Hall, I brought my Formula GT (after having placed 2nd in the series on a previous try in a different car) and was completely ruling the Super Speedway race as the Formula GT can hold insane speeds on the larger of the two turns (and doesn't exactly take the other turn slowly). So after pitting I hand the car over the B-spec for a bit and he was cornering MUCH slower, to the point that the Minolta Toyota in 2nd finally caught him and passed like 1 lap before the finish! Even on 5, he simply doesn't push hard enough in the turns on Super Speedway. :(

By the way can someone please explain the colours in the best sector/time window?

For each sector of the course (distance between checkpoints), drivers are ranked according to how fast they completed the sector - faster times get orange, poor times get blue. Generally, the times are sorted pretty evenly as shown, but sometimes you'll see two pretty well-matched cars where one will do good on a sector over here, then the other will do good on a sector over there.. it's not necessarily useful for during a race, but it would be really nice if you could see your own chart in A-spec after the race.

Likewise, I rip mediums up in 7-8 laps where my b-spec will get 10 however I do each lap about 10 seconds quicker. (A minute faster round the ring in the same car!)

Audi R8... Super Speedway... Super hard rear tyres and hard front (racing) 1015kW... I only win this race by 2 laps if that.

The (AI) Audi R8 which isnt that much slower than mine makes 49 laps before pitting even once.

I barely make 30 laps.

I come to the conclusion that its only pitting to refuel because it would be impossible no matter how you drive in that car to make that many laps on any type of tyres.

Does everyone realise that the AI cars ALWAYS have driver aids, and by default it's set pretty high (IMO). So who knows what the programmers did for the high powered race cars...

that's why I always have driver aids on for Teagan (My B-specer :p)

Just throughing in my two cents :D

1 Track where the B-Spec driver really sucks, is the Motegi Speedway

It's not enough that he pits more than the AI drivers, but he's heavy on tyres, slow, consistently spinning out in the 4th gear turn...

And not to mention frequently hitting the pitwall on entry :scared:

I A-spec most of it just to be safe. Regardless of the car.
