1. Ability to lock out ABS:

Not all cars have ABS and furthermore, a lot of race series don't allow the use of ABS. So why can't those of us that are interested in forming legitimate racing leagues have this feature?

2. Ability to force cockpit view:

First off, I think cockpit view needs some tweaking, but it would still be nice to be able to force it (on premium cars). It is the most realistic view in the game, and being a sim purist I think it needs to be a feature for people who again, are looking to form leagues.

As I have been writing this it has dawned on me that they actually need to provide us with a lot more control over online racing. Allowing us to choose what mods are / are not allowed.

Feel free to post your opinions or concerns.

Yes, let's give GT Online hosts even more ways to customize the race to make everyone have to play to your rules and restrictions that you have been practicing oh so closely.

Next up, everyone has to use the DS3 with the buttons the way I HAVE CONFIGURED, where select is accelerate, down arrow is break, and R2 and L2 steer.

Exactly, - just let people play how they want. No forced views. Maybe an option on the setup of online games to say no ABS like you can TCS etc - but other than that leave it as is. Those that want to play a particular way can, those that don't, won't.

Surely thats what the PP system is for - to even the playing field.

Hey, that's why the person opening the lobby is called the "host". :D

Forcing cockpit view, well, I don't know. But turning off ABS is a great idea. It's no different than turning off TCS. In the private lobbies I run, we simply have a gentleman's agreement to turn ABS off.

2nd time this week now ESCUDO that I've facepalmed you.
Nothing wrong with forcing people to use cockpit or not use ABS. If it turns you off, then don't compete.

I think it needs to live up to the advertisements on the back of the box before anything else.

Firstly, sitting in my GTI, I don't have anywhere near the same view as I do with the GTI in cockpit mode in GT5.

Secondly, if you have "legitimate racing leagues" your drivers should all be following the rules anyway.

They wouldn't be bad additions, but hardly high on the list.

I'm not sure about cockpit view being most realistic view. Especially if your using a wheel, because your seeing two wheels in front of you, as well as the hands. Maybe if your TV's big enough (60+) it may be fine. Of course bumper view is too low and roof view is to high. I reckon they need a bonnet view, plus I reckon they should add this view since standards don't have cockpit.

This is just my opinion of course so whatever.

@LVracerGT: Not liking your post at all. Your post does not encourage improvements in the game, but only more of an elitist attitude.

Your second suggestion is especially bad. Standard cars do not have this feature and very few race cars like Mazada 787B have premium (Not even sixteen). It's not really exciting when the only matches you have when cockpit view is forced is that car and the Peugeot Team Oreca '10 (I'm not including the Red Bull X2010 or the Formula cars). Secondly, not everyone likes the cockpit view. I for one race best when my car is visible (Not sure what the view is, but I use that one), it allows me to see what is coming up and I'll be able to look at other cars more.

Before even considering the second suggestion, why not at least wait until sixteen cars like the XJ220 and Minolta (And cars of different class as well) are made available?

It's called chase view :)

Forcing ABS off: Good idea.

Forcing Cockpit view: Very bad idea. Just because you're used to and prefer cockpit view doesn't mean others do too. This is not iRacing, so stop trying to turn it into it.

It can even give you an unfair advantage, whilst you've been practicing with cockpit view, everybody else has been off using views of their own preference (Bumper cam etc.) and to change is actually a pretty big step, having made the change from chase cam to bumper cam recently. Braking and turn in points all change, awareness to cars around you and even to the location of your wheels changes (Hence so you'll clip the grass too much or give it too much of a wide berth and not use the full width of the road). View makes a big difference, and every driver should be entitled to use their own preference.

Additional online options .... These would be nice.

The ABS suggestion is not a bad idea, but the forced view is highly stupid. As pointed out, many racers dont have cockpit view (as there standard), and some people just straight up dont like it. I personally hate it, how can I focus when the screen is shaking so badly.

Also it is not the most realistic view in the game, unless you have multi-screen set-up whereby you can see all views out of the cockpit at once. In terms of what you can see when actually racing, the most realistic would probably be third person view (behind the car), as what you are able to see in that view (without pressing any button) is most similar to when in a car. And no i do not mean you can see the roof your car, but you can see whats next to you, whats in front of you, both straight ahead and peripheral vision.

+100000000 for forcing off ABS.
It's like nobody gives a $*@§! about ABS and it's normal to have ABS in race cars

It's probably closer to the problem of braking with DS3 being incredibly difficult with ABS off. I played forza without aids, but the triggers on the DS3 don't have quite the same feel, so I have to keep it on 1.

There are many race car categories in GT5, often differing in performance hugely.
If they ever implement that, I hope they will take this into account.

i want wheels on my used cars :(

I bet that, as completely customizable gear ratios (because come on, the system works almost exactly as in GT4. What's up with those alleged "UI issues" preventing that from appearing on the release date?), there's no real technical reason preventing custom wheels on Standard cars. PD are probably saving that for a future update and Stockholm syndrome-affected hardcore GT fans will once again praise PD for how great they are with the community (and making huge publicity of that), while in reality they're just reimplementing features from previous games.

Neither of those suggestions are remotely useful to 99% of the players, therefore it won't happen.

As long as GT5 doesn't emulate G-forces on your body and we don't have steering wheels with pedal force feedback, I think turning ABS off is very hard to drive.

ABS off is really usable only with pedals where brake force is applied strictly with pedal pressure, not position. Most wheel controllers, except modded or many high end ones, use potentiometers to derive brake force by brake pedal position.

I'm all for it. I love being able to customize events down to minute details.

agree

To be truly happy with the game... i need the test course back... what with those 16 car packs now.. every race would be a flat out brawl!

There are only 2 things I wanted in todays update:

1) Laptime leaderboard with "friends" filter.
(one for tuned/modded cars, and one for stock cars)

2) Remove "favourites" and allow us to use any car in Arcade mode.

I do appreciate the changes they've made. Just wish they'd hurry up with the 2 above.

Why don't all the people that what you just said just meet up and race by yourselves instead of forcing the cockpit view and abs onto people that dont want it. Sometimes without abs the car is hard to control. Not everyone is a pro racer or wants a 100% legit sim.

First off to all the people thrashing me, it's a suggestion for a OPTION. Doesn't mean you have to run it. Both suggestions I posted were inspired from hearing people talk about leagues they're in where someone is always cheating. These would just make it harder for people to do so. Not all people have wheels, I realize this. I'm not trying to be "elitist" and actually take offense to these remarks. If you don't have anything constructive to say and just want to troll, don't waste your time.

For what GT claims to be, I think it should try to mimic real cars as close as possible. I don't like cockpit view atm, I think it's too dark and shaky, and unless you're in a premium you have to switch back and forth therefore I don't use it. However in other sims I do use it. I'm not saying GT should copy other sims but in GTR2 for example you can adjust how much the G forces affect the head movement. If GT implemented something similar I probably would use cockpit more.

More options never hurt. My suggestions would only benefit the hardcore sim racers. But I am one so I know my suggestions won't appeal to everyone.

a hardcore option would be cool also if in this option it turned everyones hud off
also why are you guys flaming this dude for a decent suggestion I think you guys really hate variety?

Cockpit view, no. What you would then get is the same bunch of poor drivers driving even worse because they're trying to play it in a view that's restricted. As for it being the most realistic, GT5 is a video game, it's not real and it's nothing like driving a real car despite what a lot of video game Sebastian Vettel wannabes would like us to believe so no view in the game is realistic, some people just want it to be.

Lastly, if you're forming leagues with like-minded gamers then surely everyone will stick to the rules.
