Two Years Gone - How far have you come along?

My play sessions become shorter, however I still play regularly. I was 40-40 when my fat-ps3 died. Now on my slim ps3 I'm on level 38, but I haven't touched B-spec. That is the one useless thing in GT5 I wished they'd left out or kept the same as GT(the 3-times speed-up version).

I have to say, I still enjoy it very much. It is some much fun to find new cars, or cars you actually haven't driven before, and finding it drive like nothing you have driven before. That is GT5's biggest plus:

Every car drives different. And I love that.

I bought the game the first day it came out. Played it from 9pm till 2-3am every night after work for the first couple of months. Stopped playing it for various reasons for roughly a year then started playing again a few month ago. Didn't really buy to many cars at first because you barely win enough in a-spec to buy upgrades let alone car's and the cars you win are the cars that could have been used to complete the races that you just bought a car to complete them with so I sold every car I won so I could buy a car to do the next series in. I don't understand that concept at all. Then I stumbled upon the great paying seasonals and started completing those. Started keeping every car I won. Up to only 189 cars. Lvl 32 or 33 in a-spec and lvl 21 or 22 in b-spec. I refuse to do online racing as I don't feel like investing the time required to find a good room or trying to "earn" the host's trust and respect so I could be invited next time, which by reading the complaints on this forum are few and far between(the good rooms that is).

I'm another one who made GT5 a release day purchase, and after 3777 race days, I'm still playing. The main difference between myself and the vast majority of people here on the Planet, is I'm still on Spec 1.0. That's only because my PS3 has never seen minute one online yet. Trust you me, it makes it a VERY different game from what I've read...

So after 2 years, and gameplay down to once or twice a week, I'm only at Level 37.5 on A-Spec and Level 28 B-Spec with 93,675.6km under my belt. :scared:

So the race is on to see if I can get her done before GT6...

Have a good one

I pre-ordered it 6 months before launch, then cancelled after the big delay was announced. Then I pre-ordered it again, this time a year before launch. Eventually the magical package showed up in my mailbox and to my great surprise I was fairly disappointed with it. I believed all the hype - 5 years in development = the racing game to end all racing games. Then I got three-quarters of GT4 in hi-def. But I played it quite a bit, and after a couple of months traded it in and still got a pretty good price for it. Bought it again when the XL version came out. I've got all but 2 trophies - gold standard and the drifting one. I think I'm at 98% or maybe 99% game completion, with only the 24 hour Le Mans race left. I've got 1,110 cars I believe. Level 40 A and B spec.

Not playing it right now, but I'll probably get interested in it again in a few months. One of my favorite things about the game is you can come back to it after a while and find a whole bunch of new seasonal events to do, almost like an entirely new career mode.

Game hasn't come as far as it should have by now, bored with it.

Wow. Not sure how you're still getting by with 1.0.

I played it loads at first (preordered my PS3 + GT5 collectors edition bundle especially for the game). Got gold in all the licences and then got to work on the events, powered my way up to lvl30 a spec (it wasnt easy back then, there were no seasonals and A-spec gave little exp) to unlock the Vettel challenges, spent a ridiculous ammount of time one day to gold those and then I pretty much went into casual mode with GT5.

Had a thing going where I tested the top speed of stock cars at route 7 aswell as timing their laptimes around the top gear test track, took a bunch of photos and eventually got bored of that. Did a little online racing when they released the Spa circuit, and then pretty much moved on with the game other than the occasional blast every few months.

Too many other good racing games out there, and ultimately the game of GT5 does not have much more depth than collecting cars and golding the licences and challenge events. Still though GT5 is one of my favourite games, it was worth buying the PS3 for.

Think i'm Aspec : 37, B spec - 33, beat everything apart from endurance events, did a couple but they bored my nut off.

Lol, well think of it this way... You can't miss what you've never had. :)

Have a good one

One might not be able to but you can definitely wish for more than vanilla GT5 has to offer. Respect!

 I'm hoping that GT6 will at least offer Heavenly Hash!

The best buy I've ever had, don't play it nearly as much as I used to do back in the day but still often enough. It's come a long way and it seems it's not finished and I'm thankful for that :)

I've been sitting at the same completion percentage and trophy count for... about 20 months now, with exception to the 1000 car trophy. Everything done except four A-Spec enduros, and a silver on the final Vettel challenge. Level 40/40, and had gold licenses within 24 hours of the release.

I haven't played it in any serious capacity for months; I turned it on this morning to take some quick shots for a Photomode competition, and prior to that, I had it on in the last week of October to take some of the Citroen GT; it was needed for a class assignment, and I couldn't find the necessary angle with real life pictures. Prior, I can't really remember the last time I raced; I did the Academy stuff in the summer (so technically, not GT5 ;) ), but I want to say I did a handful of Seasonals then for some unique Level tickets.

The first year was much different, of course. Played a massive amount in 2010, had almost daily Nurburgring Open Track days with a few GTP buddies, took tons of photos, and did a lot of research for the paint chip database. It was fun, but too many things grated on me compared to the previous iterations - the menu design, the load times, the standard cars - that I just couldn't stay as interested as I did with the older games. Nowadays, FM4 gets more play time, but GT still holds some appeal, with a few cars that aren't available in any other game (ahh, my beautiful '70 Galant), the weather, the 'Ring, and far and away the best photomode in the business.

My overall gaming time has taken a drastic cut since release day (I was unemployed then, and now balance 30 hours of work a week with 25 of school), so to be fair, all of my games have taken a pretty big cut since September. It took me almost a year to beat Uncharted 2!

Starting to get back into the game myself after a long vacation, finding it to be much more comfortable than I remember it being. Seasonal Events are a lot harder than I remembered, though! As far as events and the like go, I'm 40 in B spec, but only 32 in A Spec.

Two Years Gone....

So the question is, "How far have you come along in GT5?".

What's your history throughout playing GT5 since when you first played it till now?

1) Bought the game on day one. Played for maybe ten months. Own almost all cars; over a thousand in my garage. Needed to do the longer endurance races (ones longer than just a few hours) but PD didn't have mid-race saves back then. Haven't played since mid-2011. No DLC is worth returning to the game, so I await GT6.

2) "Till" is something you do to a field. You're looking for "'til", which is a shortening of "until".

Pre odered the game got it on day one. When I first started playing I wasn't very good so I brought the best cars for races, had nearly everything on had auto transmission and had no idea on how to tune cars and what parts to buy and not to buy. Now, I have everyhing apart from abs off manual transmission a garage with lots of tuned cars (mainly tuned by tuners here) and knowlege of the beest lines to take on a track. I'm currently, I'm level 36 A - Spec and level 38 B - Spec. I'm currenty grinding to 20 million and then spending it all over and over again.

Gran Turisimo 5 is one of the best games I have ever owned. It could use inprovement in places, but its still a great game. Im at the point now where I have money to buy anything I want, and that makes me happy. I will never get tired of GT5. Drifting and cruising online keeps me quite busy. Online is so much fun.

Purchased day one (9:42 am EST) on my 80 gig FatGurl PS3. level 37/36, 530 plus cars at time. 80 gb crashed to floor, no back up data had to purchase new Slim PS3 start from scratch, in October 2011. Now level 40/37 1,000 plus cars on 1 Account all level tickets 35 Gold/ 24 Silver/ 1 Bronze license test (Average driver) No use of Aids always Manual transmission, 82,000 miles driven so far. Still play daily but not as long as a year ago.

I have gt5 since august 2k11 and actually my a-spec level is 31 and b-spec completely done with all gold and level 40. I'm driven 110.397 km,got 323 cars ( buying only the cars i like or want not getting all cars). I love driving cars around nordschleife and trail mountain to test a car against others in the same pp class. I'm driving everything with pad not with wheel and the most time i drive automatic.all i need are the long distance events in a-spec 1000km suzuka,4 hours nürburgring,9h Tsukuba and both 24h races but in not motivated to drive this long time :/

At the end i have to say that gt5 is another top of gaming!! If i could i play every day for 1-2 hours

Bought on day 1 and have been on and off it for periods. Level 40 A and 31 B, got around 600 cars and golded all seasonals. Just got the long endurance races to complete on a spec

When I first got the game I used all driving aids and the best tires I could, after a year I was racing with abs only and having fun doing realistic racing on sport or comfort tires. My drifting has also improved quite a bit too, I'm no pro but I can easily gold seasonal drift events.

I also started using manual transmission almost all of the time in the last year, when I first got the game I always used an auto for racing and now the only time I use auto is in the X1 or a few of my awd cars when I drag race.

It has been amazing 2 years.
Was 2 times very close to the both specs lvl 40 but the save files got corrupt.
I'm now starting on my 3th save file and still loving the game.
No doubt about the fact this game was worth the full retail price since the day it camr out!
I'm getting the DLC in the next few months to keep the momentum going!

No longer playing GT5, Forza Horizon is my new fix, when GT6 finally comes out I may be back. For now I'm looking forward to driving the Ferrari F12.
