UCD - takes forever to buy cars ...

Trying to collect all cars (have around 250).
It's a major pain in the ass though, everytime you buy a car it first loads and then goes to this silly screen where you see the car and you can choose if you wanna get in or not.
Then you get kicked out and have go to in to the UCD again.
I'm not on the latest patch (I'm on 1.6).
Is there any patch that solves this?

No. Unfortunately that part of the messy GT5 user interface remains the same.

You guys have it easy these days. Pre first patch you had to cross reference your garage to make sure you had not bought the car already.
The patch added a tick to the cars in the ucd that you already have.

With only 250 cars you have a long haul ahead of you. Suggest getting on market place and trading cars/parts/paints/museum tickets ad horns to speed up the process.

I've never used a horn I'd rather get paint chips (or car tickets).

Don't forget the oil change. ;)

@MuRRe: The whole process of selecting, buying and changing oil for one car takes about two minutes. You already have 250, so you still have roughly 800 to go. So there's still 1600 minutes (26 hours) of car shopping left for you, out of which about 80% is spent looking at the GT logo or watching crappy animations. :lol:
 
I would never even have considered going for the car collection if it wasn't for the tick marks, otherwise you'd be working off printouts to avoid the lengthy screen gymnastics required to double check before purchasing.

As for the animations and being dumped back out of the UCD every time you buy a car, I wish a) you could turn it off and/or b) multiple purchases were possible, like you can make multiple selections in some of the other screens.

Have I changed the oil on all of my 1060 cars? Have I chuff! Haven't even sat in 90% of 'em.
 
I have roughly 820 cars right now..looking to collect each car in this game

What's really frustrating is that after a full day of running remote races (UCD refreshing 6 cars per race)...I get maybe 5-6 cars to purchase if I'm lucky...sometimes only 2-3.

I'd figure these last 200 remaining cars will be a total PITA to get. Any way to refresh UCD to yield more cars each time that I dont have yet?

Same. Now that I'm remote racing, I just buy almost everything in the UCD when I've cashed in my Bobs. It gets much easier as you go on, or at least it has for me.

Ditto!! I cash in my bobs and then I raid the UCD. I go to the license test and then press the next license button to refresh the UCD. Once I get to the 5th License I quit and I enter the UCD. Then there will be 30 new cars in the UCD but most of the I will have so I just get the ones I need to.
 
It is faster to enter a race and then quit 5 times as it requires only 1x load. The license method requires 5x loads. The downside is that you need to keep a count where as with the license method you know exactly where you are at.

Do a search if you don't know what I'm talking about as there are threads on this already.
 
I've got 60 to 70 used cars to get, and do believe that is the real endurance test of GT5, I'd much rather have run another 24 hour race. once you get close there aren't too many cars you don't already have and it's easier then.

I completely agree with you, I also hate how you get back the main screen every time you leave an online lobby instead of going back to the lobby room screen (whatever its called:idea:) Hope they fix this in a patch.
 
I've found if you clear the cache in the options ->network menu, it speeds up most load screens a bit - I have over 1200 cars. Try it.
 
Press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right X, O.
You'll get all cars, levels, credits, races and trophies unlocked. :rolleyes:
Win button < playing the game.
 
Wouldn't have started collecting all if they didn't add the tic marks for cars you already have. 58 cars left, 25 of those are 1Mil +. I race either Like the Wind x5 or seasonal races x5, then buy anything I need in the UCD, repeat. It really starts slowing down the last 100-150.
 
Hmm you can keep pressing Circle button as the car is coming out to at least bring up the "Do you want to use this car now?" option faster.

This. If you mash Circle repeatedly, you can bring up the pop-up for the paint chip before the car's headlights have even turn on.

I do the full on engine and chassis rebuilds straight off the bat.. so its even more expensive for me :grumpy: but the car feels much better in the end :cheers:

There's one horn sound that's pretty awesome actually, you'd want to install it on your meanest machine. But that's the only horn I've used.
 
I have 800 or so also, and it's really frustrating to wait for the cars I don't already have to appear in the UCD.

I haven't bought all premium cars yet though, I'm on the verge of getting angry when I enter the Chevrolet dealership and see the ugly and boring NASCAR clones. Why the hell should I pay 500,000 for a livery? Stupid.

I believe it's part of some secret martial arts/meditation/ninja training feature. Going through the UCD is a test of your character. The day that you can go shopping in the UCD without feeling any stress and just being as calm as a butterfly in the summer wind - that day you have acheived peace within yourself and have mastered the art of &#27494;&#36947;&#12524;&#12540;&#12473;&#24525;&#32773;-zen (google translate that if you must).

EDIT: Actually, try and translate it to German, it's awesome :)
 
Haha im trying to do the same thing collecting cars and cash. Had 300 now up to 500 different cars( so many rx7s and skylines jeez) and yer the buying proccess is quite tedious id prefer it to be faster.
 
I'm on around 750 i think. Got about 125 premiums left and 160 standards. Bought most the high ticket cars now apart from a few like the f1 cars and what not. I'm in no rush to get every car, just plodding along enjoying the game.
 
question on the UCD - what cars can you buy multiple times?

I waited for a Supra RZ to pop up and bought it before I went to bed about three weeks ago. The next day (didn't race or anything so the game clock didn't advance) it was still there but still available for purchase so I bought another one.

Tried buying another Speed 12 (for trading purposes) last night but it was sold out.
 
I only have like 28 cars left just wait until you get to a number like that, I can go a week without finding a car I need. Some of the cars I need have I have never seen in the UCD. Some of the more expensive ones come up when I am about a million short.
 
Yeah it'd be nice if you could buy multiple cars at once. I mean really, do we need the big reveal for every car we buy in the ucd and the ocd and the ncd? No. The reveal should have only been used for tickets that's all. Also you should be able to buy multiple cars at once from the ocd and ucd.
