Ugly as? naturally.

Yes, the spoilers are ugly on most cars. Sometimes they look cool, other times they are just plain ugly.

Would it have been that hard to include spoilers that weren't as extreme? A few that sat lower or were differently designed (like the spoilers on the '05 Mustang, Neon SRT-4, Supra RZ, RX-7, etc....)?

Although with the poor AI, no difficulty setting, and other quirks involved, I'd rather take those then spoilers that I only install on supercars like the Ford GT and then they look decent anyway.

👍 👍 👍 :dopey: :)

they are not meant to look good guys. they are put there to give you downforce...

look at aftermarket spoilers in RL and you will see that people have either made their car very ugly or have a car well matched to having a spoiler on it.

show my a fiat panda in RL that has a spoiler on it and looks good! there arent any. so just because theres spoilers in the ame doesnt mean you HAVE TO put one on

OKay okay, so your saying that you dont have to put them on, i get that. But they should have atleast made them look better and functional. Are both these things not possible at the same time?

As for the spoiler having to clear the roofline to be of any purpose, thats not true, the air travelling over the roof moulds itself close to the back of the car, the faster your car goes the higher the gap of moving air gets off the boot of the car. But youll never get your car going fast enough for the air to tottaly clear an average sized spoiler.

why do you need a functional wing to make a car look better...

is a racing contest (game) not a look at my car is beatiful (game)

IMHO all the cars look cool, good, beautiful (take your pick) in their original form...

Well their height (spoilers) might have to have a function...otherwise the Bentley, Audi, Minolta, Scudo, might not have such big wings IRL...

Doesn't that have to do with how aerodynamically shaped your car is? We are talking about random normal cars after all. A Cube probably doesn't have much moulding going on (ok, ok, that's an extreme example :sly: ).

And I wasn't necessarily referring to whether there was air there, but the relative "quality" of the air. The difference between aerodynamic shapes is whether the air runs smoothly over the surface or is broken up into eddys and whorls behind the surface, yes?

Doesn't it work something like that? Please to correct...

Didn't you hear about the Panda going a 175? :dopey:

This is true, i was just taking the average though, saughta like a commodore shape ( or an average sized sedan that you have in them foriegn countries of yours like a vectra or something.) As for the panda, i read that, ive even got a pic of mine up there ^^, but its different with a hatch, seeing that the spoiler sits on the roof, and not much obstructing the airflow as with a sedan were the passengers compartment is in front of it.

They look good on the bigger cars. Put them on the Australian Holdens and Fords and you can pretend you have a V8 touring car without the paint job. Oh Roll Cage also required.

hehehe true true, for people who are cheap (like me) theres your answer..lol

I like the wings, mostly they do look good, but then Ive always liked clothesline spoilers. The only gripe I have is that you cant get them in the colour of your car unless you bought a black silver or white car.

yes the spoilers may appaer overdone but if you look at the spoilers that don modern day race cars there quite the 'picnic table ' to . one might say that these don't look quite as ugly but i'd say thats because the rest of the car has been fattned up too for downforce. i think the problem with gt4 spoilers is there out of proportion to most cars. (gt 5 optional wide body kit????? please)
obviously pd have thought about praticality (e.g downforce) not looks . if you don't like the spoilers play need for speed underground or something

Thats one of the biggest insults ever... its like me telling someone to buy an X-Box.. you just dont do these things :ouch:

The spoilers are just too high and look like park benches sitting on the rear end of your car. i also HATE the spoiler of the Camaro iroc concept. Only superbird can have a spoiler like that and look cool. though i love that car because its the only 3rd gen FBody in the game

As far as race mod's vs wing shop, I'm glad they went with the wings. I hated the race mods, I like my cars one solid color. stripes are pushing it for me, My ony gripe with the wings is that the foil is sometimes so high off the deck, and that looks really stupid. if they could be a bit shorter on some cars that would be great.

by the way, about the wings being too big? I almost always use the smallest one in the shop. Only on biger cars i use the double deck spoiler, and on really wide, low cars like the GT I use the Uh... the one before the stupid triple deck one at the end. They fit nicely, just a little too tall sometimes. I hopw for GT5 they sick with the wings and maby add a visable element to the front spoiler they have now. No more stickers and stripes. No more race mods.

Spoilers are only in the game to offer an enhancement of downforce, should you need it. Im not sure why they are not just lumped in with the tuning though? They dont look good on all cars as to accoumplish that would be a massive job in its self. a minimum of 700 spoilers (one for each car) and had PD done that we would have been complaining about the lack of spoilers for each car.
and lets face it the most stupid spoiler in the game is that monstrosity that is the Superbird. Only the yanks would consider that!

[sarcasm/]Boo hooo....the spoilers are sooooo ugly...boo hooo :yuck: [/end sarcasm]

Ahhh gee guys,If don't like the damn things don't put them on your cars!

As for me I don't give a damn how they look ,If putting a stupid looking,Big ass spoiler on a car improves my lap times then so be it.Nearly every car car I get immediately gets a Rear wing on it.Especially with the MR cars (I find them very light in steering at high speeds and having that extra bit of downforce makes them more stable.) 👍

I dont find the spoliers ugly(on thier own), its just once they are grouped with a car. By readjusting the size i think they could get away with the same amount of spoliers they have already. As for 1 for each car... @_@... Youd find that alot would be so similiar that they would be able to use the same for a different car, especially because Gt4's car count is boosted mainly by the same but a different version, ( eg NSX, NSX-r or the billion skylines)
