I had a plan. This year I was going to build a beefy pc, upgrade to either a CSW or T500, CSS, and CSP V2. Also planned on building a new cockpit from scratch, and maybe going for triple screens.

Then, I came across an offer that I apparently thought was too hard to refuse. Suddenly, I now own this:

Plus the displays, plus more.

Full turn key motion simulator. Even simulates rear traction loss. Cost me maybe double what I expected to outlay on the other gear, but hey, there's a whole lot of serious stuff going on with this. Very excited to get my hands on the ECCI. Picking it all up this weekend.

I'm not even sure if I'm sharing excitement, or sharing a confession. I feel a bit like a "that guy". That guy that has a 1959 Gibson Les Paul and hopes that someday he'll be able to get through the whole Stairway To Heaven intro without stopping.

And prior to this I'd spent the last few years happily bolting together bits and pieces of junk for my sim rig. When it rains, it pours.

Haha, no. I was insinuating that I'm not good enough for this beastly rig. That I don't deserve it. That there's people out there that are fast as all hell, and live and breathe this stuff, that would be far more deserving.

And before you ask.... No, I'm not giving it away to someone more deserving. Not even close.

No carbon fiber? I am disapoint. :p

Looks awesome, dude! 👍

Wow, I'm officially jealous... I just have to decide of what I'm more jealous of, the racing rig or the '59 Les Paul.

Cheers

I'll swap you a 1959 Gibson Les Paul for it, since you seem to want one so much?

I know I shouldn't ask, but out of extreme curiosity... How much did this set you back? It's beautiful. 'Jealous' doesn't quite describe it!

Deal. I just knew that they were coveted, but on checking it looks like we're talking in the 100,000 to 1,000,000 dollar region for a '59.

My extremely sensible purchase was a bit over US$7k. To be honest though, I've blown more than that on buying houses, and they were all quite boring really.

Yeah, that feels like a good score, heck that ECCI wheel is like 2k by itself.

It's close to a Simxperience stage 5 set up (US$22.5k - before shipping, to Australia!!), replacing the stage 5's T500 wheel, shifter and pedals with the ECCI wheel, CST pedals, and Simworx shifter and handbrake. All of those are obviously very good replacements. Oh, and two computers instead of one. There's also a touch screen for dials and gauges that's not shown here. So all things considered, my 7 odd thousand is buying me a lot!!

Must thank you all for sharing the excitement. I kind of half expected at least a few disparaging comments on how ridiculous it is to shell out that kind of money on mere "toys".

That is simply awesome. That already pales in comparison to my future rig I intend to build for my $60 wheel, and I've not even fully decided if I'm going to do so. Awesome rig!

Wow! 👍

Now you'll have no excuse at all for being slow.:p Share more pics when you get it installed and movin' and shakin'.

Wow, killer rig Lemans. You're going to have a blast with that. If I ever moved up to a motion rig this is just what I would imagine, well all except those punny TV's. :D Just a slight rub because of my triple 55".

A 1959 Gibson Les Paul? Is that a reissue? because there were only 635 shipped in 59 and an original is worth a fortune.

Have taken possession.

First impressions: Of all things it was the magnitude of the Simworx shifter and handbrake that struck me. They are stunning, and so incredibly robust feeling. The scale and beauty are not captured in photos. The shifter approaches 50cm from top to bottom, and both have a polished mirror-like finish to their top plates that I did not appreciate from the photos.

The ECCI immediately screams industrial quality, and is even more imposing than I expected. At the same time though, add in the pedals and it all seems very inviting. It feels more like an extension real car experience. So hopefully that means it will feel like an extension of real driving experience.

But that driving won't be happening too soon, as I have plenty of work ahead putting it all together, and completing the room that will be dedicated to it.

For now it's just fiddling around with the bits and pieces, and appreciating the huge leap in build quality on display.

Will update.
