Hey guys, this thread is for the attention of all UK Members.

My bike was stolen today at 2:04PM (I arrived at 2:10PM).

Yeah, I missed the scumbag by 6 minutes!

Just asking my fellow GTP members to keep an eye out for it, and to spread this around any other forums you may be a regular. I am totally obliged to return the favor if any of you help me out, this bike is really important to me as my only form of transport since Insurance in the UK is just so ridiculous at 18.

Thanks guys, and I hope you don't mind me posting this here. Seemed like the most relevant place.

That really sucks (more so as I have a soft spot for GT's). Good luck getting it back, Lilday.

Ouch....Have you already called the cops?

Yeah I told them but there isn't much they can do, the CCTV is blurred and not zoomed in very well.

The best I can do at the moment is get as much attention as possible directed to this bike and its reward. If everybody who reads this posts this on another forum, and then others post it on other forums, this could be in the attention of thousands of people within 24 hours. That of course is counting on people doing me the big favor of posting it around. I don't expect anybody to but I would really appreciate it, and always owe you one.

I can't explain how but lets just say 'I have contacts' (cliche), and managed to get between 60-75 Police officers attention during their briefing with images of the bike. So most of the Police know what this bike looks like, and its unique features so it should surface somewhere - hopefully.

Again, thanks guys :)

Was going to suggest a post on Bikeradar but I see you have that covered...
Thugs will do anything for crack...

Man so sad to hear about your bike being stolen. It looked propper nice.

I'l have a look around on biking forums I visit in there for sale area's.

That sucks mate.👎 Really nice bike too. I think a few of my friends are on various forums(including biking ones) so i'll ask them to post something.

Good luck in catching the scumbag who did this and getting your bike back.👍

Thanks guys.

I've posted this on around 10 message boards so far and GTP has given the best feedback & positive responses thus far. Really is a close community of real, down-to-earth guys.

Police just called me with a crime number to quote regarding any more info, its being transferred to the unit that deals with car & bike thefts. I'm tempted to print a load of posters and tape them up to lamp posts around the city center haha.

Is that Archer?

Not sure what you mean, if you mean me, nope. My name is David.

The bike didn't have a name, but it wouldn't have been Archer because it was a she, haha :p

The font, silly. What else would I be talking about?

Stick an ad up on ebay with a note that it's stolen too. That way someone else won't be able to flog it there as it would look rather obvious...

I've put the message out on twitter anyway. After my car got nicked I'm happy to help in any way I can with this sort of stuff.

That really sucks. I had a brand new Mongoose BMX nicked from by flat in Leicester about 6 years ago. Really is frustrating. I will post this on my Facebook for you too just in case anyone spots it.

That's crap David, where was it stolen from specifically? Obviously I'll be looking for it, it's distinctive and know my bikes quite well so I'll know if I see it.

I doubt they'd be stupid enough to advertise it locally but check the for sale section on the Echo website and newsagent windows as well as eBay. I'd also check the markets at the weekend and the carboot might be on in Bootle if the weather is ok.

I'm gutted for you mate. I've had a mountain bike and motor bike nicked before so I know how devastating it is.

It was locked up outside John Moores University main campus (Byrom St), right outside the city center. Thanks for the advice on markets etc, I'll be sticking my nose in everywhere I can.

@Homeforsummer thanks for tweeting it, good way to get info out quickly, might make a twitter account :p

@Sprite thank you too for posting it on facebook.

I don't remember what the font is because I made it in PS and I've made something else in a different font since, so its not stored haha. I just thought it looked cool xD.

Post in Bike shops

Good advice, i got my bike back like that.
Some guy bought my bike of the thief and bought it in for a puncture at a bike shop I spoke to and they confiscated it off him for me :)

If you do get your bike back, buy a crappy run around bike just to commute with and keep that for trails or whatever else where you wont have to lock it for extended times...

good luck....

That looks like a ridiculously expensive bike. Hope you get it back soon enough.

Custom spec and about £1200 new if its anything like mine.

I trial, bmx and ride downhill, you have my sympathies sir its like losing an arm.

I'm sure you'll reach a happy outcome, but if you dont, lesson learned! Get insurance.

Yeah all in all about £700 sounds right.

It had a slow puncture I hadn't fixed since monday, so every morning I had been pumping up the rear tire.

Meaning that in the morning this guy will wake up to a flat tire, he will either swap the inner-tube out, or go to a bike shop to get it fixed. The problem is there are 100's of bike shops in Liverpool.

Man what an 🤬.
Does this happen as much as it's made out to in Liverpool?

No, that is the thing! I always defend Liverpool as a lovely place to live on the basis that I've never experienced any crime. In 18 years this is my first experience so I guess its not as bad as everybody makes out.

I mean Liverpool has the lowest crime rate of any of the UK's largest 10 cities. I think its just a stereotypical thing that came from long ago and has stuck. Maybe it was bad in the past.

If it was locked up, I thought you could claim it on the house insurance or something?
It's what my dad keeps telling me anyway.

Unfortunately, bikes aren't always covered by household insurance, especially expensive ones like that, so he'd need to check with them.

I've just changed house insurers and on the forms I was filling in, there is a specific section for bikes. So for most insurers, you have to tell them what it is, and how much it's worth, and therefore have to pay more of a premium, for it to be covered.
