Hello again :D

UKGTP 14 - Five... is Alive!

Dates: Saturday, May 28th - Monday, May 30th

(guests are welcome to arrive on Friday)

Location
The frozen North-Eastern steppes, Middlesbroughish

Attendees:
Blacksheep
daan (Dark Blue aka Monaco Blue, #27, NASCAR #48)
DocH
Famine (Purple, #6)
GTP_Ingram (Dark Red, #14)
HFS
Jondot
Neal (Lamborghini Ithaca Green, #46, NASCAR #18)
Roo (Black, #11, NASCAR #11)
Sureshot (Orange, #88, NASCAR #88)
Venari (Audi Cactus Green)
VEXD
(your name here)

Equipment required:
1x PS3, 1x GT5, 1x TV, 1x control device per person, headphones optional

Equipment available:
13x PS3
13x GT5
12x TV
10x Wheel (1x G27; 3x G25; 4x DFP; 3x DFGT)
13x Controller
3.5x Cockpits

Please add your name and equipment you're bringing in the posts below. There is some... awkward organisation to manage in the months before the event that requires quite a bit of attention from all attendees, of which some of you will already be aware, but we're on top of it currently.

Please note that, since this is our house and we live in it, there are a number of house rules. Like, no shoes inside (particularly upstairs), no leaving both front doors open (if my dogs escape you will be killed to death) and we have to wind up the evening's races by 10.30pm at the absolute latest. Since there's only one bathroom in the house, there's a limit to how many people can actually stay here too - and these spaces are taken - but if you arrive before the desks are set up and intend to stay right through to packing away on Monday, you're welcome to set up camp in the garden. There are a number of excellent local hostelries and you can camp on the beach if you're feeling more al fresco.

Food isn't provided - there is a marvellous chippy, pizza shop, Indian and Chinese all within falling-over distance, along with a convenience store. There's a Sainsbury's and a Co-Op in walking distance and a Tesco and Morrison in the next town up. Directions will be provided. Please bring £4.20 for the traditional Saturday-night Parmo - vegetarians need not apply. Other donations are gratefully received.

Err... go?

Insert my name there. I should be able to arrive on the Friday evening.

I shall bring 1x PS3, 1x GT5, 1x TV, 1x control device, headphones and (probably) a playseat.

I assume Mrs. daan is coming too, to keep Mrs. Famine amused (as she has three days off then, by coincidence ). You're currently allocated the back bedroom, natch.

I'll check and see, but there were indications that she wouldn't be able to get time off work...

1 x PS3, 1 x GT5, 1 x DFGT, 1 x PS3, assorted/assaulted headphones. 1 x shortbread. Can probably find some Cat5 too.

1 x PS3, 1 x GT5, 1 x DFGT, 1 x PS3, 1 x 24" LCD Monitor, 1 x CAT5 just in case.

Projector for other fun.

Possibly more. I doubt it. Also, no Missus Ven - she's probably got gigs that weekend.

Why all the cat5? There are 2 cat5 in the house, along with 2 dog5.

If Famine has left the bread out, there's usually a fair bit of dog6 too.

1 x PS3, 1 x GT5, 1 x DFGT, 1 x assorted bricks, 1 x headphones...errm, I don't actually have a spare TV or monitor and the missus would change the locks if I took the one from the living room so what's the likelyhood of a spare one being available? If not I'll have to catch up with the modern world and get a second TV.

Also at the moment it's looking like I'll be there for just 2 of the 3 days so is that ok and is it best to come Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon?

We tend to finish about 1/2pm on Monday.

I forgot to mention 1 x TV. (Roo, don't forget duct tap)

Venari
9. Go drive it a bit around other tracks - you've just tuned your racecar. Don't forget to NOT TWEAK IT ANY MORE AT ALL.

Is engine break-in worth considering for this, can be worth a few HP.

I'm in, and I can bring:

1 x PS3
1 x GT5
1 x DS2
1 x wheel (DFP GT)
1 x HDMI cable
Assorted relevant cables

Can't provide a TV though I'm afraid.

As for my sleeping arrangements, I think I'm going to try and see if the Panda makes for a better bed than the Fiesta did. I'll be testing this theory in a few weeks anyway.

Insert my name there.

I'll bring me, a ps3, luccaduteevee, gt5, ds3, my seat and possibly extra wheels and pedals, though they have been farmed out at the mo, and may not be shepherded back in by then.

God knows where I'll sleep.
I'll worry about that later.

I might bring God Of War III as well, cos I know Famine has been dying to play it.....

:irked:👍

You can wear shoes inside, the living room, hall and kitchen are all easily cleaned (hard floors). We will, however, have a new stair and landing carpet by then so all shoes must be left at the bottom of the stairs when using the facilities. I would actually recommend wearing shoes when pottering about downstairs because the garage floor is minging, and transferring that muck onto my carpets will not go down well.

Insert me too please.

1x PS3, 1x GT5, 1x suitable 21" monitor, 1x DS3, 1x HDMI. Also varying bits of ethernet cable of unknown type, just for funzies.

I'll probably shack up in a Premier Inn as per usual.

Good luck with that, the closest one of those is miles away. There's a local B&B where GTPers have stayed in the past, Sureboss and Roo should have the details for you.

There's also loads of B&Bs in the next town along, but make sure you let me know which one you're looking at before you book as there are many which aren't so nice.

Interesting. Ok, well I'll send you a message a bit nearer the time with a shortlist or summat, cheers :)

Milford, I'm looking at a travelodge in Middlesbrough.

I know it's miles away, but it's cheap if I book it now.
Will I need a flak jacket?

Do you think it will take me absolutely ages to get there from yours? It's like, on newport road, in the middles of middlesbrough? (that's the high street/train/bus station bit)

Also, will there be room in the fridge for my Mars Milk.....

:trouble:👍

I know where that one is. It's not far from the centre, there's a Sainsburys nearby if you need midnight snackage, and probably a few ladies of the night too knowing the area if you're that way inclined.

It won't be a particularly short drive from there to Chez Fambicle though.

Just borrow a Meriva and kip in the back again.

Maybe my new Avensis estate with added privacy glass will turn out to be a little less crap if I use it as a portable hotel, it'll have better facilities than a Travel Lodge!

Also just to be sure I am David Prowse/James Earl Jones Vader rather than Hayden Christiensen right?

I think I've got my zonal footwear sorted out now. Sandals in the garage, slippers downstairs and socks for upstairs. I'll try and match them to my chosen car colour to avoid confusion :dopey: While I'm at it I'd just like to say thanks to The Perples for hosting this and having a load of car bore geeks infiltrate their house for the weekend although at least it's not a historic battle reenactment meeting!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Incidentally, the issue with kipping hither isn't one of space but of bathroom facilities (and space). If you don't shower, then no problem. Otherwisely, you'll be fifth or lower in the queue and that's a good chunk'o'time given over to ablutions. Time that could be spent racing, dammit.

Mind you, we're saving about an hour of LAN setup time each day now (though I should add that we're now depending on the internet not dropping out. Which it will do at least once a day).

For those interested, I shall fire out the names and prices of local and "local" hostelries.

Yes, but the LAN would drop out a fair bit too, and it's a lot easier to set it back up.

Now now, we've only had three mystery fallovers in the last five LANs.

But yes. Much easier to drop back in this way.

Middles of Middlesbrough too far then? Like, 30 mins? 45?

I might be interested in your list perple personage.

We are not stocking Merivans this year, and I don't think I can get a Vito, or a Zaf, so I may be forced to pay for accommodation, besides I am old and need a bed these days, and a telly, and room service....

:irked:👍

1x PS3
1x GT5
1x G25
1x controller
2x headphones
2x tellys
Potentially 1x cockpit, if I ever get round to building the damn thing, and if there's space.

1x tent to camp in the garden too, if possible please.

Due to... landscape-architectural-oversight, the camping plot is a bit... err... smaller than it was. I reckon you can fit a 5'x5' in there, but you'd struggle with anything larger.

And Anna is stupid. She will run into your tent. Probably backwards.
