Uncompetitive/Unrealistic AI Car Choices?

Your car will need an edge, be it grip, it's lower weight or high torque, you will need something to help you beat similar vehicles. Sure we want competition, but think about it...they will have to program the AI to be stupid at times because if the AI drives like M. Schumacher, you won't win. I'm sure that GT PSP had levels you could set the AI to.

You buy a used car and factor in the additional cost of a weight reduction stage 1 + whatever else you can manage to buy for it.

Starting off anyway.

I don't think any of this will be a problem, the game is comming so soon I wish I could make a thread, I got so many good ideas for one.

I remember in R2 World Championship on FM3 the whole entire field lapped the Ferrari 550M. I like it when there are slower and faster cars because in enduros it makes it more realistic because not everyone in real life is fast.

I think any attempt at trying to round or simplify a cars performance is just going to fail. I think it should be based more on stats, 0-60, 60-0, Lateral G force, top speed, torque, horsepower, weight distribution. Those measurements should make for a more interesting and challenging race.

Uhm...what do you think GT5P's PP-System actually is? It's exactly that. Performances put into a formula to calculate an overall performance-level of each car in every possible setup. The only question is which performance measure is valued how much.

A bad AI choice would be hatchbacks against your Dodge Ram, from GT4. GT PSP has fixed that, giving the Ram competition of saloon cars, so this scenario would not happen in GT5.

in GTPSP they always matched up my '69 camaro with cars like the skyline and whatever.. i dont think its fair to put a 4 speed with a 6 speed.. in real life maybe, but in the game.. no!

Hopefully, in arcade mode at least, PD will implement some sort of system where you can choose the cars the AI drive directly.

This is a top notch idea. I too had this thought when GT4 was released and I felt that since the feature was not incorporated it really hurt the replay value of the game. It is such a simple idea but could add so much. Ultimately I feel that they should give the player the OPTION to specify what car they would like their opponents to drive whether it be a custom car that the player has made or just stock/factory car in the game. Giving the player more options to customize their experience will NEVER detract from a game it can only make it better.

The problem we have had with GT in the past is that the AI's cars have been either uncompetitive or the choices were extremely monotonous and boring. In GT4 if you raced in arcade mode with a car above 500HP You knew that you would be racing against the McLauren SLR, Pagani Zonda, TommyKaira ZZII etc. That was fine and was still fun but theres obvious opportunity to make that system better. There is no reason in the gaming world of today that the feature should not be implemented.

heres hoping AI cars will be modded up to a competitive level rather than racing in your finely tuned machine against a field of stock cars

cause they are demos!!!

there probably isnt enough models in a single class on a demo to fill out the entire grid so they use cars from other classes instead of making it boring with several cars being the same.
