unconfirmed hybrid sighting online today

hi all,

just got out of a lobby where we were racing NASCAR rigs on Laguna Seca. all of a sudden some new kid comes into the room and is just KILLING - i mean, going WAY WAY WAY too fast - like X2010 fast - in a NASCAR racer.

herky-jerky all over the track, jumping from side to side of the track but insanely fast - TOO fast to be legit methinks.

could this be the first of the dreaded hybrids in GT5? has someone figured this hack out?

or is this old news?

or, am i crazy and it was just some kind of glitch?

anyone else seen anything like this?

if this is happening i'm BUMMED!

It could have just been lag. I've seen it several times. Was he smoking the tires? For some reason the lag can make it look like the car is going really fast, but crashing at the same time. Might have been what it was.

^that would be my guess to,seen it a lot
 
ya tires smoking - or i guess it COULD just have been dust coming up from him bouncing from one side of the track to another at high speed? but could be lag? sure hope so!

the other thing is, i asked the guy how he had his car set up, and he said "just stock".

if you've ever tried to run one of those NASCAR rides on anything buy Daytona or Indy without SERIOUSLY shortening your gears and changing your whole setup good luck even getting around the turns. kid said he "didn't do anything in setup at all".

as i say, hopefully it was just a lag issue.

ya i saw that as well, so i am aware that the ps3 has been hacked - in fact i read last night that the security patch that was in last yesterday's firmware update was hacked already too.

however, hacking the security and hacking a hybrid are different, are they not? not sure, really myself, i'm no expert on these things - but it seems to me if they were, we would have already been seeing 1500hp honda civics online already yes?

i remember going online with GT4 and running into hybrids, and what i saw today definitely reminded me of that - whether that is what i saw or not, i cannot be sure.

He was just lagging. Happens in my rooms all the time. Bad connection on their end I think.

Those damn eco-friendly punks. They took our word! We GTers have been using "hybrid" for years now.

Could you go online in GT4? I never connected my PS2 to the internet, but I can't remember hearing about online in GT4.

expected to read the hybrid hack been done to a real world hybrid from the game and it was whooping NASCARS.......hahahahaha
