Mazkid might know something about this but my previous car (a '85 Mazda 626) had a melody for each warning. It got friggin irritating, :banghead: There was this one telephone type of sound that came from only the right front side corner and it just did it whenever it felt like it. My friends laughed at me when they were in the car and it went off because I couldn't explain it. And no it wasn't a cell phone I forgot about in the car. I never did figure out most of the sounds and I'm glad I don't have that car anymore. I have to say the auto ocilating airs vents and joystick for the sound system was kinda cool.

With some cars going under 1/4 tank is a bad idea.
The fuel pump in the tank is cooled by being under all that gasoline.
If it isn't under the gas it'll burn out the pump. And at 1/4 or less the pump is not under the gas.
A true ***** to fix. Don't ask me how I know.:trouble:

Ethix, that feeling that you're getting better mileage with the tank near full, isn't a fluke.
Both of my old Pontiacs went thru fuel slower from "full" to "half", and then flew from half to empty.
Of course, with my old T-Bird, it just flat went thru fuel like there was no tomorrow. (9 mpg).

When the gas guage reads less than a quarter of a tank, the car seems sluggish. This seems a bit odd as the car should be about 100 lbs. lighter without all the fuel in the tank.

It is possible that your car's computer measures the amount of gas in the tank and works to conserve it by injecting less.

Thats all I could come up with.

I was just thinking about one such mystery today. Sometimes when I press the gas in my jeep it seems like I get more power per inch pressed down. Other times it seems like I have to press it further to get the same power. It's never a problem. I just notice it. Maybe it's all in my head.
You're freakin out man. . . (reference Super Troopers)

You drive a manual, which the amount of press on the gas pedal does make a difference. . . More so if it is an older engine that is carbed and not injected. . .

I have a bad habit of running over animals in my Focus. I have hit 4 cats, 2 dogs, a possum, and a turtle ever since I got it about 2 and a half months ago.

Focus is to animals as GTP is to morons. They just attract.

Also happens when my sister's neon's tank is under 1/4 of a tank when it starts it takes 3 seconds to turn over!

Only one way to solve that problem...Drive the Viper

For some strange reason, even though I have had an alignment performed on the front of my 1999 Chevrolet S-10, it always pulls to the right. It probably has to do with my tires though since three of them are stock from the dealer with a new tire on the right front and spare on the left front. I had a tire goe flat about two months ago and just rotated the spare onto a normal hub since it hadn't been used yet.

Oh and it smelled of Cigarettes or something when I first drove it. It probably still does but I never notice it.

The Neon had a power steering rack that seemed quite sluggish when it rained anything more than drizzle. Then again, it had over 150,000 when it started doing that... I never wanted to know how much DC was going to charge me for that!

Existential Automotive Law #1:
If it looks good, it will be quick.

Existential Automotive Law #2:
Every car drives quicker once it's been washed.

Existential Automotive Law #3:
The car drives better on more expensive fuel.

Existential Automotive Law #4:
Problems disappear just before arriving to the service center.

Existential Automotive Law #5:
Fun-to-drive roads always have an inversely proportional speed limit.

my car seems to be a bit of a freak (compared to others like mine) cuz w/ just an intake, test pipe, and muffler, i was still able to beat a friend of mine w/ the same car and he had an intake, full catback exhaust AND headers. then he got an under drive pulley and was just only slightly faster than me. Oh, my car also has about 70k more miles than his too :)

also i seem to have a slight tranny leak...yet when i check the fluid its never down
