UnFixable Car Wear?

In all fairness, although yes it's nice to have a pristine car, are you really going ot notice the difference if say you delorean has 3 less HP? Theres not online racing to compete against perfectly tuned cars of the same model where settings make all the difference, and if you want to get the fastest lap times, you are going to use the F1 car or some Group C monster.
I for one wont be in the situation where i think, i wont be racing that car, it will lose 10HP and it wont be the same. If you never drive it, whats the point of it having more power? You can still admire it and you can enjoy driving it too.

As long as you change the oil in your car every 140-150 miles or so, you should get all of your power back. I have a Mercedes Benz SL65, that I have put over 1000 miles on, and about every 140 - 150 miles the power will go down to 982, but as soon as I change the oil, it goes right back to 999 hp.

Guys, changing the Oil isnt enough in GT4 :crazy:

Example.
I purchased a CobraR with only 6.2 miles on it & another used CobraR with 21,xxx miles on it. [ dont ask :) , but im a FORD Fan 👍 ].

Any ways, changed the oil on both cars and this is what the HP showed.

390 HP = 6.2 miles
370 HP = 21,xxx miles

I then entered the Laguna Seca 90 Lap Endoru with the used one. All the mods & suspension tweaks [ 416 HP ] applied but still managed to lose 2 times.

Then I had an 💡 come up.

I then entered it again for the 3rd time but with the CobraR that only had 6.2 miles on it. With almost the same set up { minus the adjustment of the tranny to number 19, 1/10 more negative camber on all sides }, i was finally able to win it with only a 19 sec lead.

Believe that B-spec is to conservative. While im ready for a tire change by lap 15, B-Spec isnt taking the turns or breaking at the threshold <sp> and can go up to 25 Laps with 1 set of tires.

Just my .02

Sorry, let me REFRAZE my earlier post.

CobraR
Miles = 6.2 / 435 HP [ modified / minus the Tune Up from 1 – 3 mod ]
Miles = 21,000 / 416 HP [ Modified / minus the Tune Up from 1 – 3 mod ]

The reason the HP isn't the same on both cars, is because the one with 21,000 miles on it never got the virgin oil change. As I'm sure you noticed, when you changed the oil in the used one it was not fresh oil, so therefore it was driven with dirty oil, on top of the fact that it did not have the virgin oil change. Which would account for why the power isn't the same.

thats with the oil change. extra virgin in the oil too :p

20k+ miles isnt bad but the game thinks it is. my real car only has 13k on it & it still hasnt broken in yet.

does the car deterioration really get that bad in the game?

I've also noticed the exact same Loss in driving stability.. Mainly in B-Spec mode trying to save enough credits for the black LMPs with i have successfully saved!!! My Audi TT-R used to get in 1st during the first two laps and now ive not only seen it slide off the road, but it will take a bit longer and not win by as much of a margin...

I too have an R8 with roughly the same mileage (7953 km) and it has dropped hp since I first got it, even with frequent oil changes and chassis refreshments.
How much hp do you have with your R8, and how many miles exactly? I'm sure it won't keep dropping until you reach 0 hp (not that low, but you know what I mean). I'm sure it drops to a certain % of the orginal "new" hp, and goes no lower than that. However, what that % is, is unknown thus far.

Currently, I have 7953 km on my R8 and it has 1066 hp (when you are at the screen where you have the option to sell or to get in, that shows the car spinning).

Please post what you have :)

You can drive it, you just have to turn off your PS2 before you exit out of the race. Or, if you have a 2nd memory card the delorean is easy enough to win if you start a new game, and then just sell it back to yourself.

Also, I believe the "port polish" or engine balancing will help you regain HP unless you can't do either of those to your car.

OR you can just buy it from yourself. on your home screen, select trade, and put ur memory card in slot 2. load the garage that you're going to by from and put your memory card back.

i've been doing this since GT1 to buy duplicates of cars i wanted to keep un-raced. i've read of some weird things going on with autosave. It worked fine when i did this in GT4, but then again, i had autosave on restricted and i have the North American version of GT4, where it only saves when u get into cars.

if you have a different version or are not using restricted autosave, be smart about it. i'm sure it'd work the same though.

ive given this some though, and come to the conclusion that gt takes into account that these cars are not driven to pick up billy from soccer practice, but are raced frequently. that would make 20k miles more like 200k normal miles.

Just so you know, none of the used cars can recieve a virgin oil change. They are all have too many miles on them for it to be a virgin oil change.

If you don't know what the virgin oil change is, I'll tell you what it is. In the game when you change the oil in a new car with less than 30 miles on it, you get extra HP on the car sometimes up to about 50HP. Once you have driven the car over those 30 miles, you can no longer get the extra HP.

Since your used car has over 20k miles on it, it would no longer qualify for the virigin oil change. The only reason that the power increased in the car at all after changing the oil, was because the oil was old, and as with any car in the game that you are driving with old oil, the power will go up once it has been changed, but it may not go up to the amount of power at the time it was new.

Don't know if its related, but its kinda like car wear. I was driving a ford rs200 in the world compact cup and i noticed that the left inner tail lamp was burnt out and the right wasn't. can lights burn out? if so how can you fix them... it looks stupid.

What if your using the f1 car and it goes crazy on you like my c60 did once i raced it too much. I fixed the c60 by just doing the chassis refesh thing for 50,000 credits but im afraid that if i drive my f1 car too much ill screw it up and never drive it nermore since theres nowere to go to do anything for the f1!!!
