The Tuscan doesn't sound too bad, gets a nice rumble going at my feet. but the Tamora just has no soul.
I don't know how many of you have actually heard one in real life but it is 20 times better then GT5. :scared:

For some reason they record the engine sounds with the car not actually moving, they just rev the engine in neutral. Seems like a bit of a stupid way to go about things, but my point is it's likely (I haven't heard a Tamora since the guy in town got rid of his, which was ages ago) that if you compared the sounds of the game and the real car, as long as the car's not moving, they'd be quite similar. I guess. I think it's probably to save money and time, if you consider how many cars there are in the game and how many miles they'd have to do to get the sounds recorded, and I'd imagine getting the recordings of a Sauber C9 or whatever else at full pelt is quite hard due to road and wind noise, etc.

I had the same thing at this year's Festival of Speed; the Lancia Stratos and 205 T16 didn't sound all that similar to the cars in GT4, where they sounded, well, they sounded like they weren't really going anywhere. Because they weren't when they were recorded. Still, when they put the Tesla Roadster in GT5 at least the sound won't be too hard to recreate!

Unhappy Brit........ surly you mean disgusted of Tunbridge Wells?

Yeah it's a shame but I think this has been discussed before.

I didn't realise that they recorded the engine notes of the cars like that. Guess that is why so many of the cars don’t really have great engine notes (e.g. Ferrari 599 GTB ) Seems really strange that they would do that... From experience of being around various expensive cars and hearing them take off and rev, there are two distinct notes produced when doing either of those things, and is almost guaranteed not to record the true notes of the cars if they are stationary....... for example..... cars such as the BMW M3 CSL, have a distinct note that only shows it's self when under acceleration or movement.... due to it being and engine induction noise, through that epic Carbon fibre air box...... and other cars like the Pagani when lifting off and there is a pop from the exhaust (over run)..... these are things that are only heard when moving !!

But I guess PD know that, and there must be a important reason as to why they record the notes while the cars are stationary???????????

I drove around Tunbridge Wells earlier. Damn traffic

and it also explains why the F430 and Elise S1 is just that little bit off. :ouch:

I used to work near there, but that's another story..........

Yes, that's it they are a "bit off". One of the best things about a TVR is the amazing sound and that's just not here in the game. On the other hand, at least in the game you don't get the other delights of TVR ownership either :-)

One of the Joys of living in East Sussex. I live near the Lotus/TVR Dealer :dopey:

oh boy here we go again.. there are few boards regarding sounds. I'm sure they will fix it in the future.

There are some cars with excellent sounds. Very few though, for instance the Honda's sound very very good. A good friend of mine has a S2000 with header and exhasut and the Amuse sounds just like it.

I'm actually really curious as to what PD has in store for the sound department in the future.

For example, I bought the JP version of GT5p when it came out. I remember buying a Corvette Z06, and it sounded ok. However, after the Spec II update, the engine note on the Vette became drastically different, and in a good way. The exhaust had a lot more rumble and rawness to it. I don't know if anyone else played the spec I japanese version, but I remember there was a difference in exhaust note....so maybe that's a sign of good things to come for all of the cars.

I do have to say tho that the exhaust sounds in GT5p are far better than they have been in the series. Not perfect, and still workable....but better than it has been.

i also noticed the change in sound from the vette....
if i put my 5.1 sound system to the max,all my neighbours will ring my bell to ask if i am starting a garage in my livingroom!!!

so i also think the sounds will be improved in time...

spyrrari.

Yes, it's cheaper and easier :sly:
