Yes, i know it's a rather old game. But it's still a fun game, and still looks great graphically. It's only too bad there isn't a compelling storyline, eh? But that's probably what Unreal is for, anyway.

So who plays the game? What's your online name? Who is your character? What's your favorite weapon? And what are your Single Player stats? Do you have your own server?

--

+My online name is Minus.
+My character is Romulus. But sometimes i switch to Widowmaker.
+My favorite weapon is definitely the Shock Rifle. I love it's look, power, and special attack (the plasma explosion).

My stats are:
Player name: Minus
Team name: Grafite
Difficulty: Average

Kills: 251
Deaths: 111
Goals: 13
Wins: 21
Matches: 30

My name is FunkyFreshInmate.
My character is Blade (:D).
My fav weapon is definitely the flak cannon. I love hearing the announcer calling me a flak monkey.

Stats:
Team name: Inmates
Difficulty: Average

Kills: 368
Deaths: 39
Goals: 34
Wins: 26
Matches: 26

I have it, but haven't really gone online with it because I really bought it for LAN parties (plus the lag on 56k is horrible). Unfortunately, not many of my friends have it or can run it with their systems. When I do play though, my favorite weapon is the rocket launcher or the lightning gun.

Why don't you round up a dozen buddies and have your own?

I couldn't be bothered starting up UT2003 at the moment. But anyway, it is indeed a very good game. Especially if you have the bonus packs. 👍 I downloaded them last and with all the new maps, game modes, announcer voices and such - the game is way better.

I found a good site for maps, mods, skins and stuff: www.ut2003files.com

Also, if you want the very best maps: www.planetunreal.com/cliffyb

I usually use the name Maximus or Kal-El but haven't played in a while.I really enjoy this game, probably as much as Counter Strike or Quake 3 (best online game/ game engine so far.)
My favorite guns are the Link gun with the Heal team mutator or the mini gun.
(I also like to do a little insta-gib now and then as well.) :D

I have to wait until I get my new Custom Computer to play it, it runs slow and weird on the normal settings...:irked:

Some $5,000 machine he wants. I made a custom computer (just listed the parts) that would be just as good, maybe even better then what he selected, for a fraction of the cost.

Bah Shannon, my list is way better now...:P

Yeah, 5000$ AU, about 3300$ American...;)

Well, if you took that 19" Sony CRT off and replaced it with a NEC V930 19" CRT, you'd save a couple of bucks.

You'd be lucky to find any other 19" CRT monitor under $500 AU, and NEC is a good brand.

I replaced it with a Phillips...haven't you seen my list lately? ;)

Well, it's in that "computer case modders - Show us your box!" thread...

I read it, and modified it. My list only costs $3787 (approx. $1839 US) and is just as good as yours. I took off the speakers because that isn't really important, I though $99 was a bit too much for a floppy drive (sure your not looking a ZIP drive?), I don't know how much a CD Rom will set you back and I din't know the price of the Norton stuff down there.

Anyway:
Code:
Processor:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ - [b]$235[/b]

RAM:
512mb DDR400 x2 - [b]$340[/b]

Motherboard:
ASUS A7N8x Deluxe - [b]$329[/b]

Harddrive:
Maxtor 160GB 5400rpm - [b]$278[/b]

Monitor:
NEC V930 19” CRT - [b]$499[/b]

Floppy Drive:
Internal 3½ Floppy - [b]$??[/b]

DVD Burner:
Sony DRU500A - [b]$899[/b]

CD ROM:
52x CD ROM - [b]$??[/b]

Video Card:
Sparkle SP8831 256mb - [b]$319[/b]

TV Tuner Card:
Pinnacle PCTV Pro - [b]$204[/b]

Soundcard:
Creative Sound Blaster Extigy - [b]$399[/b]

Software:
Microsoft XP Pro - [b]$285[/b]
Norton Internet Security 2003 - [b]$???[/b]

  • Notes:
  • An Athlon XP 2400+ will give you roughly the same performance as the P4 you listed, and is $100 cheaper.
  • I listed the same RAM as what you listed. DDR400 is the same as PC3200.
  • In your list, you have a DVD burner and CD burner. You only need a DVD burner as a DVD burner can burn CDs as well.
  • For $200 cheaper, you can't go wrong with the NEC monitor.
  • The Sparkle video card I listed is built off the new nVidia GeForce FX. If you want to play Doom 3, you're going to need an FX card by the sound of it.
  • The Soundblaster Extigy is an external box with built in Dolby Digital
  • I listed Norton Internet Security instead of Antivirus. Internet Security has Norton Antivirus, Firewall and some other stuff I do believe. If I had a computer like that, I'd want a Firewall too.

Okay...sounds okay, but:

Yeah, I know that, but I wanted to have two drives, not just the one drive. Ah, so the sound card already comes with speakers? Well that's already $500 off the list, ;) I also already got Pro XP (Pirated) so I can also take that off the list. :) Uhh, maybe I should take the floppy drive off, because it'll take unnecessary space, I want to keep the Philips in the list because most of the appliances in our house are Philips and they are quite reliable we've found. ;)

What's the difference between an Athlon and a Pentium?

Oh yeah, here's the closest price to the Athlon you listed I could find on the site, see, it's sort of a cheaper store than the big ones, so most of the stuff is way cheaper..
AMD Athlon XP 2700+ $250.00

This is the only Sparkle with FX in it I could find on the website:
Sparkle 256MB GF FX5600 VIVO/DVI-I $375.00

Because it's also a matter of a availability, not all the products you listed are available, but it has helped me think the list through. :)

Yeah. That's why I put a 52x CD ROM up. CD ROMS are cheap and you can use your DVD burner if you want to play DVDs. I'm not sure wheather or not they have built in speakers, but it has built in Dolby Digital.

2700+, even better!

That Sparkle you found is built off the same card as the other one I listed. They're pratically the same. :)

Phillips? I'd still go with the NEC. Remember, the cheaper it is, the better chance you have of getting it sooner, rather than later. ;)

So what's the difference between Athlons and Pentiums?

Also, so I'll still need to buy speakers? :(
