It looks awesome! I don't think it's as good as Killzone 2 though...

What?!

You're drunk

Is it just more detailed than ps2 instead of better and more colours. I would have thought stuff looks more life like. I remebr the good old days when I console power was done by BIts. how many bits does the ps3 have?

I belive the PS3 is a 64bit console.
Those shots look great.

It's not just detailed, the lighting is miles better and shadows look more realistic.

I'm just amazed at how much detail is in the pictures.

Seen these last week if I remember. But in 5 years time games will look as real as life I reckon.

Seeing as the PS2 is 256bit I doubt it!!! (I think it is anyway)

I think the PS3 is going to be a damn sight better than the N64 (which funnily enough was 64bit :dopey: )

PS2 was 128 bits.

Also, bits no longer matter in visual quality, and yes, the PS3 is 64bit.

Cell Processer is based on Power PC 64bit architecture. :)

^ Is the right answer, it's no big deal really. Bits don't mean much really. I can remember everyone going on about the Megadrive back when school kids used to say "shell on ya", "twice as many bits as the Master system", "it's got 16 bit's woooo, it's the chizzel schnizzle" or maybe my memories not as good as it was.

Wait until Unreal 4 engine is showen then we see lush in the UT games.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Those screenshots and videos looks amazing! I regret I should have looked into this game earlier. :O

The only Unreal Tournament I ever played was Unreal 2003 for the PC for about 3 monthes. (borrowed it from a friend) Loads of fun, but had a quiet a weak computer that time. :nervous:

I will look into UT2007 more to see if I would be interested in buying it in the future. :O

I think the limit of hardware is pretty much there. It won't take long until it only depends on the creativity of the programmers whether a game will stand out from the bunch.

it's not the hardware that counts....it's what you DO with the hardware.

Of course, but with graphics it won't take any longer until the maximum is there. Processing power will not be important anymore. Even though processing power doesn't make the game, when you look at the X-Box and PS2 it still does matter at times. X-Box is slightly faster and you see a difference. Once there are consoles with 5Tb processors they show any better graphics than one with a 2Tb processor. The only difference will be that the 5Tb processor uses more electricity and generates more heat.

5TB processer > 2 TB processer. By the time those are possible, programmers will focus more on AI, physics, and other strength-dependent things, instead of making imagery showcases. A stronger processer will give them more to work with.

Unreal Tournament runs best on PS3 says Epic Games vice president

Speaking at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games claimed that Unreal Tournament 3 can only show its full potential on the Blu-ray format, instead of the current-gen DVD used on the X360.

At the festival he mentioned that the developer had to cut some content from the X360 version, meaning 360 owners will have less maps to play on, but us PS3 owners will get to have the game in its full glory!

It does seem of late that the PS3’s Blu-ray capabilities are beginning to shine, and developers, manufacturers and gamers are all coming to love the future-proof aspect of Blu-ray and what it allows in terms of gaming capabilities.

Developers are already hitting walls with the X360’s DVD limiting gameplay, graphics capabilities and the number of features their games can have, whereas the PS3’s Blu-ray size means that much more is possible. We cant wait to see how they will take advantage of storage space in the future, but for the time being the PS3 appeal looks set to overtake that of the 360 very quickly.

That's awesome, we are finally going to be getting Blu-ray quality games, the only thing I can say is it's about time.

I'm gonna wait and see what the reviews are for UT3. It may be a bit too fast and furious for me. Quite different in style and content to Bioshock for example!

Other than both using a FPS format, Bioshock (which looks like an amazing game!) and Unreal Tournament III are very different games, so I suspect they wont be competing against each other in terms of genre or gameplay. The Unreal Tournament games are primarily focused on multi-player online battles, but has single-player mode as well, where as Bioshock is a single player offline game. This is actually the only weak point that I can think of right now that Bioshock is missing, and that's an online gameplay mode.

I suspect Halo 3 is the real competition for UT3, as they both share a lot of the same type of gameplay. Neither interests me much, but I know I’m in the minority as both series are immensely popular.

Bioshock on the other hand, with the exception of the lack on online play, appears to be the kind of FPS game I would enjoy very much! It has the kind of storyline, environments, and problem solving situations that I find most appealing, and it’s nice to see a fairly original theme, and a FPS that succeeds in being far more than just your typical adrenaline-filled shooter game. 👍

I've always had a great time with the ultra fast paced online action that the Unreal Tournament games are known for. The weapons are nice and creative too!!

have you ever played the Half life series? If not, you should check out, Half Life 2: Orange Box... 5 games on one disk for 60 bucks. they can do this because the main game "Half Life 2" came out about 3 years ago and won multiple awards for game of the year and such. If you're looking for a great FPS with ALL those things you said above, i would definitely recommend that you pick up HL2: Orange Box...
It comes with:
Half Life 2
Half Life 2 Episode 1 (expansion of the story)
Half Life 2 Episode 2 (yet another expansion)
Portal (sweet first person puzzle game)
Team Fortress 2 (online class based shooter game)

check it out!

I am the exact same way, I never owned an XBOX but when playing Halo and Unreal Tournament I was never really blown away, I personally thought that Halo 2 was overrated to epic proportions.

Agreed... UT has always been better then Halo. But Unreal is one of the grand daddy's of FPS. Up there with Half-Life, Quake, Doom, Duke Nukem. :P There all the ones that started it. Halo is just another game in the basket.

Now running at 60fps, bitches!

At Games Convention this afternoon Epic Games demonstrated Unreal Tournament III PS3's new SixAxis controls - and they look to work really well.

The death-dealing superweapon, The Redeemer is now controlled in camera mode by tilting the PS3 pad from side to side - which in our demonstration looked to work without a hitch. Similarly, hoverboard controls now work using the tilt capabilities of the PS3, twisting the pad to perform spins and tricks.

The console version itself is looking in great shape; the version we saw today was running at a solid 60fps and looked near-identical with the PC counterpart, which was also running side by side. Mouse and keyboard support is also confirmed, although Epic wouldn't say anything when we quized them about crossplatform play.

An Xbox 360 version is due out sometime next year, although Epic says it's currently concentrating on getting it out on PS3 and PC before Christmas.

How do you like them apples?

Gimme some HD vids someone!!:dopey: 60fps is good to hear, particularly if it's constant.
I WILL get UTIII if it's smooth and stable on the PS3 and does'nt require the fingering speed of a classicaly trained pianist to play (my fingers move more like a sloths with arthritis nowadays :()

I'll wait for another source as I remember some journalist saying Motorstorm was running at 60fps....... If it is true then.... ...hot damn!!
