Hi all I have been looking for slightly different cars to the usual .... Has anyone else used these at the ring and are they any good. RS200 road car and the C 8 Spyker ??

Part two ..what other slightly different cars do people
Have ?

As a touring car enthusiast, I find the 'Vauxhall' Calibra and Astra touring cars unusual, because Vauxhall never raced a Calibra, and their Astra touring car wasn't introducted until 2001 and was run under vastly different specs. It's an irritating oversight that really does wind me up. It didn't stop me buying them though, because they are unusual..

Most of the concepts are unusual, and the Tank Car is surprisingly fun.

In that category, there's ofcourse the Audi R8 5.2 V10, with the V8 badge on the back (does that count as a sleeper? :dopey: ).

Fully tuned vw sambabus, with black matte paint. Highly amusing racing that round the 'ring.

Maybe we have to concede that Gran Turismo isn't completely infalliable...

The 'Vauxhall' Calibra and Astra touring cars are DTM cars. They were normally badged as Opels, but for the odd rounds held in England they were re-badged as Vauxhalls.

I'm not aware of the DTM being in the UK as early as '94, and I have to admit, I've not heard of them being rebadged but if that's true that's certainly quite interesting.

It just frustrates me how none of Vauxhall UK's BTCC cars were included (Or any BTCC cars, for that matter). I know it's because Codies still hold the licence, but there hasn't been an official BTCC game since 2001. The BTCC's waned since then, but I would love a modern take on the classic supertouring era; Cavaliers, Lagunas, Mondeos, A4s and my personal favourite.. the plucky Pug 406.

The lack of a standard Calibra was disappointing too.

Goes back as far as 1980 really. The DTM's predecessor, the DRM, ran a non-championship round at Donington in 1980 and a full championship round at Brands Hatch in '84. They've had rounds over here every couple of years or so ever since.

Fair enough, it was the whole 'rebadged Opels when racing in Britain' thing that surprised me the most. I mean, I know Vauxhall/Opel/Holden/Pontiac/Buick et al are essentialy different brands under the same parent company, but 'Vauxhall' never raced a Calibra, and Vauxhall's Astra was vastly different to Opel's. Maybe I'm just being overly pedantic or jealous because the Cavalier or Vectra touring cars were excluded..

Back on topic, I'm surprised some of the other token cars like the Motor Carriage were excluded from this game. They were an amusing novelty, if only as a collector's item.

I think the Caterham Seven Fireblade would count as a unique car that's fun to drive :)

It is, but only racing itself or the Citroen GT is boring though. I dislike arcade mode's auto-select of cars. Veyron, GT or Speed 12 mostly..

Bought the C8 last night and had a quick drive, it's quite a nice drive. Also own a Oullim Motors Spirra 4.6 V8, that's an interesting drive when fully tuned:crazy:

Most Kei cars, Mitsubishi Galant VR-4, Nissan Stagea 260RS Autech (in Midnight Purple III, naturally), Honda Prelude Spec S (the one with 4WS and 220bhp engine (I think?)... I find the most unusual ones to be Japanese, because:

a) the Japanese make strange cars and
b) it's a Japanese game so they'll include more Japanese ones than any other country.

Apart from the Volvo I can't really think of any unusual European cars.

Oh and the Polyphony Digital-made Touring Cars are unusual, too; I love the Impreza Super Touring Car.
