Just a few minutes ago, I was in a public lobby driving around when I wanted to use my 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Racing Modified. I selected it and when I took it out, I could only hear the transmission Whine. You can hear the engine but its really really quite. This glitch seems to also happen on the 1969 Racing Modified Camaro. Anyone else having this issue?

I investigated the problem and it seems all my Racing modified cars except the 2010 Camaro RM has lost there engine sounds. My friends also can't hear my engine sounds even when I'm revving at redline. But when they drive their RM cars, I can hear them.

I found the problem. The cars did not have an exhaust installed! The little box that had a checkmark was not checked. I did not uncheck it since you can't uncheck RM exhaust. Heres a picture to explain what I mean.

Quite?

They will be cars from an older update. Around 1.07 it was that you could buy RM but the racing exhaust would NOT be upgraded. This was later fixed so that any RM bought would have racing exhaust. You've probably got an untouched RM from before that update.

Kinda funny if you don't have a exhaust installed it makes the cars quiet, while in reality that would make the car very loud haha.

Wrx, I think that when he said that he didn't had any exhaust installed he meant that no aftermarket exhaust was installed in the car, so he had the stock one, making the car quiet. 👍

An RM without an exhaust? Dude! You're stumbled uppon the new wholy grail of barter currency, even since the painted stock rims glitch!
Post which other RM's you have without the Exhaust ticked and I'll trade you for them!

Is the BHP/PP affected if the exhaust isn't ticked?

I am having a problem with NO engine exhaust sounds AT ALL on several cars ever since I downloaded the GT Academy Demo. It doesn't seem to matter if they are stock, modified, or anything. I also have no engine exhaust sounds on any of the cars in the GT Academy Demo either. The problem seems to be with the download of the Demo, I'm not sure how to get my sounds back, but I don't even enjoy playing the game without sound.

Welcome to the club, maybe one day it will be restored...:grumpy:

Go to quick options sound effects or what ever it is and go to 120
My sound system was perfect before the up-date, no adjustments I`ve made will correct the way the cars sound when being passed. My car sounds all but disappear when I`m in a crowd.

I think that is a different issue. As far as I know, the only thing that helps that is changing from Living Room to Small Theater or Large Theater. Large Theater usually works best for the engine sound-muting but of course isn't necessarily optimal for the sounds overall on some systems.

Has anyone tried reinstalling the game to see if it helps? I hate to spend hours on a reinstall if it's not going to help.

I was in the Formula race car championship today and I had my hands full trying to discern my car from the others during the race, and the start was mayhem, could`nt hear at all, found myself at one point doing 50mph in 7th gear... had to use the shift light and try and watch the competition at the same time.

I did some experimenting with the sound in GT5 over the weekend, and I found that if I use the 2 channel stereo or the 4.1 surround setting, then I have normal exhaust sounds. If I use the 5.1 surround setting then I loose the exhaust sounds in whatever car I am using. It does not seem to matter if I use the living room, small, or large theater setting, I still have normal exhaust sounds only if I use the 2 channel or 4.1 surround settings. I have also noticed that I am not actually getting surround sound at all if I use the 5.1 surround sound settings, I am sure this is the cause of the problem. I am running the sound from my PS3 through the HDMI outputs to my LG TV, then out of my TV's optical out to my Sony surround sound system. I looked in my PS3's XMB sound settings and discovered that only the top 5.1 surround setting could be used (I guess it's the only one my TV can use). There are several other 5.1 settings that I am unable to use because my PS3 will not let me use any other 5.1 setting, I think this is the reason the surround is not working in GT5 because it uses one of the other settings that my TV can't use (decode). I have not tried going directly from my PS3 to my surround sound because it does not have HDMI inputs and I run several other components through my TV so I can get surround sound for them also. Maybe I'll try running directly to my surround systems optical in if I get time to see if that will work, I think that it probably will.

My sounds were perfect before the up-date, and I`m not fooling around with my sound system just for GranTurismo. What ever they changed only affected the game sounds, maybe they`ll reset it.

My sounds were too, but I really doubt they will reset anything. MAYBE they will tweak the sound settings a little, but I wouldn't hold my breath for PD to do anything quickly. Like I said in the above post, I believe it has something to do with the sound settings and how you have your surround system set up, not a "problem" with the game. I don't plan on doing any permanent changes either, but you can try setting the in game setting to 2 channel stereo and see if that helps. It did for me, I just no longer have surround sound in game (sucks for me).
