Update 3.56 broke GT5 online ?

I updated to 3.56 this evening, and now GT5 won't go online.

I can sign in to PSN, and the store and playstation home work, as does my media server, but GT5 gets to the bit where it connects online, and stops.

If I unplug the network cable, it works normally, but then I can't get online (obviously). If I then plug the cable in, it hangs when trying to connect.

Any one else having problems ? Got any ideas ?
 
Played GT online all last night after updating. Your ISP / Modem / Router could be the cause.
 
Mine works fine(wireless),played online before i left for work

edit:read your post again,i dont know if this would apply to you,but i cant play online on my ps3 or my computer when i have a media server running,my satellite dont even work right when i got it running.
 
Works fine for me on wireless
 
Got me all excited til' I realized that I wasn't logged into GT yet. :(

Hmm, I can't make it work, tried rebooting, everything :)

Tried port-forwarding, disabling/enable uPNP, changing DNS servers, reducing MTU, not signing in to PSN, but nothing works :(

Does any one know the actual server names/ip addresses for the GT5 servers ?

I want to try pinging them, to see, if its NTL (UK)'s problem ?

It worked fine yesterday, and every day since release, but after the 3.56 update, its broken :scared:
 
I haven't had any problems after the update.
 
Do you have a jailbroken PS3? Cause that patch is specifically to deny any jailbroke PS3's from connecting to the PSN network.

No its not jailbroken, it connects to the PSN/playstation store/playstation home, just not to GT5.
 
Could be a routing issue local to your area then - I'm not sure what the IP range is for the GT5 online servers, but if you can figure that out (router logs might help) you could try and run a tracert on that, and see if you're actually getting there, or getting there with significant delays.

EDIT:
Wait... you're already going down that route, missed that post. Let me see if I can figure out what the IP range might be for your area.

EDIT #2:

I'll have to check when I get home - if your router keeps logs, you may be able to determine where your PS3 is trying to connect to, and go from there. If not, something like Wireshark might be able to help out where your PS3 is trying to connect to, and you can trace from there.

I'm in the UK and had the same problem earlier, but now it seems to be fixed. Must have been just a small error at the GT servers and the new system update.

I left mine disconnected for a couple of hours and then just tried it 5 mins ago and not a problem now
 
Regional GT servers were being updated I believe
 
Wait... Is there a patch 3.56 now? I havent been online for a looong long time now last update I've got was 1.05 just thought it might be weird becouse I aint seen anything about it in the news feed...
 
No offense to those who seem to have replied with semi-valid reasons as to why... but how can an update break something that worked fine before the actual update...ie "router/modem" I obviously had to update and had one issue connecting to GT after but after a cold restart, all was well. No need to adjust ANY setting pertaining to my network. Now thats just me but to say an update killed your ability to game online is just ludacris
 
this happened to me too, i bet when you get home tonight and try Online it will work fine !
 
You could also try clearing the GT5 network cache in game settings.
 
Same problem with me. I don't want to mess with dns settings, is there any way to fix this without changing any setting as I'm bit scared to mess up anythhing. And it used to work fine so yeah...
 
Could it be the main account thing ? I mean you first need to log with your main account after update to accept PSN policy again... Just a thought
 
I don't play gt on my main account, don't want to. Can't see how that can be an issue but other games work fine.

Why are you scare,, just write down your actual Network Settings,,, change the DNS and if it doesnt work, re-enter your old settings.

Changing the DNS was the only thing that fixed the issue for me... i was unable to log in to GT5 servers since Jan 21
 
After the update. My controller has to be connected by wire to use it. I can't even play it wireless. Oh well . I was doing b spec anyway
 
I keep getting a message that my date and time are not set correctly.
It started right after the update.
Has anyone else seen this, or know the fix?

It will be to do with the Daylight Savings option, it will be wrong or it thinks it's wrong. Change it in the date and time settings on the XMB and reset the time, if it was correct in the first place simply change it back again and this shouldn't come up anymore.

wow...that's serious bullcrap. I don't have a jailbroken PS3, but that's bull that they did that.

It's Sony's hardware you're using, their software you're playing, and their network you're logging onto. I'd say they have every right to stop hackers from getting on...
