Hey peeps, I been checking out the galleries quiet a bit but haven't posted in any yet for two reasons... 1. I suck at photoshopping and 2. I wasn't confident enough in my photomode ability... However, it seems practice has paid off and my photomode skill and picture selection has become a lot better... I feel that my photomode pics are now starting to look realistic enough for me to start my gallery...

Soooo, here goes for my first set of pics... ;)

NSZ LM Race Car @ Trial Mountain and Autumn Ring

RX7 @ SS Route 5

Renault 5 Turbo @ Autumn Ring

BMW 330i @ SS Route 5

Comments are welcome guys, as this is my first attempt @ a gallery... :)

UPDATE 1
Well, after all the comments on my first post, I decided to try a few new things and here's what I came up with...

Firstly, for LandoAWD, your impression of speed sir! :)

Secondly, for kennythebomb, a bit of variety! :)

Thirdly, for myself, I decided to try our a few scenery pics and here's what happened:

I tried to keep the car as the focus point in these pics, but the background from these angles fascinated me!

Let me know what you guys think :)

Update 2

So I've been getting more and more creative with camera angles, I also noticed that the sync replay add's a whole new dimention to photographing cars (you just need a quick "select" finger). So here are my updates with a few new angles...

My new collection of NSX LM Road Cars

Then I decided to get bold and tune this beast...

Not a good plan, MAJOR MEANY this car is...

Found an interesting new drift car too...
The ASL ARTA (JGTC)

Next on to some M Power!!!
BMW M3 GTR Race Car

I couldn't decide which one to pic, so I put them both on for pic of the litter...

Enjoy the updates... ;)

(I finally got far enough to get a BMW M Coupe... Pics will be in my next update... ;)

Update 3

Well, I decided that I have too many drifting pics here, so I've taken it upon myself to include more racing pics in my gallery... Here's a few from this weeks practice...

Update 4 is HERE, Mitsubishi Tarmac Z02 vs. Peugeot 205 Rally Car

UPDATE 5 is HERE, Classic Brittish Sports cars @ the 'ring

Thanks Knickersfan,

I know it's a lot of drifting pics because that's mostly what I do... I'll take a few more "normal" pics for my second installment...

Thanks guys,

I assume the pics are great since no one's suggested alternative shots, angles etc yet...

My next installment will come after this weekend, I should get a good few shots in...

One thing I noticed though, is that the faster the shutter speed, the better the picture quality... I use 4000 most of the time unless I want the wheels to be blurred from turning...

4000 on the exposure tends to not convey motion. The car looks excellent, but it looks like it is parked next to a fire rather than drifting as the background is stationary.

Finally ViXeN, lol, I GUESS "YOUR FANTASTIC NSX-R LM car" forced you to tell everyone about it, or photograph it. It seems like that car is your new love (I check drift forums too offcourse).
Photoshop isn't that hard....maybe I can explain you sometime. It's just selecting, and choosing out of the countless things what you wanna do with your selection.
Lol, but it's a great car, and you made WONDERFULL pictures of it. Really like the BMW too...yeah:tup::sly:

I recommend you, to first open a picture in photoshop. Then immediatly, without selecting, look above and go to image>adjustments>levels. Go look around there a bit and you'll have it learned in no time:p;) General thing you need to achieve, is more brightness.....at this stage I mean.

Yeah I know, I learnt something new today that should change that, II'll give that angel another go this weekend and we'll see the difference... It's the second turn on Trial Mountain as you go downhill... That angle comes up on lap 2 I think on the main camera..

Ehm.....well, yeah ok. Trial Mountain SUCKS ASS!!<<LMAO. Really, try some shots on Twin Motegi, MUCH MUCH better:tup: It might be good drift track.....but dont take pictures of it:lol:

Lol, me and my photoshop. I'm too bored to go and race for pictures myself, so I just borrow yours:p I did it with sejturs gallery too;)

Personally, I think the brightness is OK. Nowhere near as dark as some of the others I see in this forum.

FWIW, I suck at Photoshop as well. I use levels, saturation (auto), and sharpen (just a lil), and that is about it other than cropping out the GT logo.

Again, the pics look great, I just didn't feel motion on the drift photo.

Nice mod there GT4 Fan... I see you got it a bit brighter... I think I just found a mission here though... I'm going to set this entire gallery up with ONLY photomode pics... No photoshop editing at all and see where it gets me... I'll check the Pics on my home PC before I upload them here at work... No internet at home...

I think I'm only at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to photomode and I think with more practice I'll start getting the pics looking really great without photoshop... 👍 👍 👍 :dopey:

Yeah. I know what you mean, at a second look now I see it too... I've learnt something today though and I'm going to try it out... Will post updates later this week...

Cool man, try to get best at non photoshopping, but hey.....change your title to "No photoshopped images except for ONE";)

Nice update Vixxen! I love your concept of No PS work! Welcome to the club of gallery owners! nice to finally have your pics up! oh yeah before i forget i doid fix up that Yellow Prowler you were asking to have retouched a while back, i think i posted it in that thread... i'll PM it to you so you'll remember..

Following on from my PM, heres one of my better shots that has the car itself nice and sharp and the wheels blurred.

You should be aware that a little work has been done in Paintshop on this one, but mainly just levels and cleaning up the shading. The basic car and wheel balance (between being blurred and sharp) is all from the original shot, which was far to dark.

Heres the original to show what I mean.

Hope this helps

Cool Scaff, Cool...

I'm getting the hange of the shutter speed when taking action shots... I find around 250 - 320 gets a good clean shot, and keeps the wheels blurred...

Can you remember what speed you used in that pic?

I've had a bit of fun with Photomode, looking for blurred wheels but with non-blurriness on the rest of the car. Try setting shutter speed to 160-200 and the other one (sorry, I'm having a non-english day) set to the max (22.0)... works better when you're on a side-view of the car. That's how I shot this one:

Gives you a nice appearance of speed, while maintaining focus.

Edit: oh, you may also want to hit square (manual focus, or shouldn't it be auto focus?) on the lower part of the doors.

It would have been about that range (if my memory is holding out) one thing you will notice it that as you get closer to the car you will normally need a higher shutter speed, and the opposite as you get further away. Your best ebt is to try a few shot and see what works best.

When I find an angle I like, I tend to take quite a few shots with different settings and then pick which one to use when I get them on the PC.

Heres a few more of mine (and the only work these have had done on them is levels and a quick resize), drifting shots for you that show you can blur the car just the right amount and it still look good.

Whats interesting about these two is that they were both taken at the same time, just using different camera angles and settings.

Let me now what you think of them?

Nice pics, You can still see the blur... I would have wanted the back wheel on the second pic to be a little more blurred though, but I suppose that would have blurred the back of the car too?

Quite right, I did take one with a slower shutter speed, but it ended up with the back end of the car too blurry for my tastes. Thats when Photoshop does start to come into play.

Then you can get the best of both, like this

Yeah true, but I'm not great with PS... and I decided yesterday, that my mission would be to do them without PS at all... I'm even gonna enter one of the photomode comps with my pics and see how it goes...

Ah come on scaff, allow a BIT of blur;) I think it's not good that I get the feel like you all are anti-ca-blur, not even a bit. Personally, it just gives more style to a picture:)

hehe, G-T-4-Fan, I'm not really a fan of the car being blurred too much... I don't mind if the back of the car is blurred when you're photographing the front... But I prefer a clean crisp car with a blurred background for action shots... ;)

Gonna work on some more pics this weekend (collected all 3 colours of the NSX LM Road Car) and will update on Monday. ;)

You must have missed this one of mine

Don't worry G-T-4-Fan, I have no problem with blur when its used well; most action shots need a little to show a sense of movement. I just dislike its use to hide an otherwise bad picture.
