Been away for a while because old ps3 broke so got a new one now. Spent almost all day doing 14 updates and it finally finishes. Try to actually play the game and it says it is updating. That goes fine, but come to the installation and it always says there is an error.
Even when i cancel it, it just tries again a few seconds later. I have even asked it if it has the newest updates and it has, so what do i do now?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I am glad it did work - I can't get GT6 to work past v1.13 - So do a few laps for Ol' Painless.

I can still play v1.13 - so it isn't all bad, The many hours it takes to download and install every patch ... only for it to fail is the killer.
Enjoy the good times.

ah ok. What have you done to try and fix it?

Done fresh install of GT6 (digital) few days ago , since my bluray failed. After downloading game and innitial download install,I didn't run game ,but go into xmb and choose "check for updates" and then got all 14 updates automaticly downloaded and instaled at once in about 3h.After that I've run game for first time and get greeted with another install window (for about next 2h) ,but that was mandatory GT6 install within install.

Dunno at what patch number your game is , but delete all game data , then in case you got disc version ,put disc in , do not start game but go from XMB on GT6 icon and select "check for updates". This should automaticly download and install all 15 updates at once with no prob.

I think the problem is the V1.14 patch is trying to alter something on Apricot Hills - BUT my base (v1.00) version has got an error in that track so when the patch tries to alter/tweak that part of the GT6 game data it hangs.

I've delete all my game data - but playing at v1.00 apricot hill must have an error on my hard drive as it really struggles to load the track (It did once for a B licence test when v1.14 failed for me the very first time) And now it just stalls if I try to run that track (This is my only hunch as to why I can't update to V1.14.

What I don't quite get is how a tabula rasa version of GT6 can still have that error... it can only get the data from my GT6 disk... and Apricot Hills used to run fine. I would expect deleting all the game data would force a fresh install from the disk of the track data.

I've tried to install v1.15 and v1.14 before that and it always hangs on the V1.14 bit (I tried once to double bubble the final two patches but it still ground to a halt in the v1.14 bit.

For the moment I am going to play some V1.13 - Since The V1.14 patch came out I've only ran GT6 twice... and managed to get 2 million off the bat in the Zahara de la Sierra Time Trial -

I'll give it a try next year... maybe.

oh ok :\ Have you tried taking out the hard drive and blowing the dust off/out. that worked for me once. if not just replace the hard drive? (If you do replace it you should deactivate your psn account so no one else can get on it if they manage to fix the hard drive, and then reactivate it if you get a new one. It's easy to do, i did it when i got a new console.)
