Update problem!!

This probably has been posted here before millions of times (may be, by me only), but I had to make a thread out of this, coz it's been too long since my problem and I cant afford to let my "question" just burry down in one of the threads.. So making a NEW ONE! :) .. I am sure there have to be more like me out there who have this question... HOW THE F__K do you UPDATE, GT5P..???

Anyway..

First of, I bought GT5P, pretty much the same day as it went on sale.
Since then, till now I havent been able to update the game AT ALL.

I can update everything PS3. All other games on PS3, PS3 System Updates, EVERYTHING, except for GT5P. My NAT type is 2. So it's got nothing to do with my ISP, coz I play XBL games pretty easily and apart from GT5P, PSN works, flawlessly.
I have tried to update it in almost every possible way. (through GTTV, NEWs section, etc, but as soon as It prompts for an update and I say 'OK'. It goes into a screen that says - Preparing Download or something and stays there FOREVER. I can't even abort it. I have to QUIT the game to exit that screen. Which is VERY Annoying. Coz even after I Abort, it stays on the same screen (FOREVER, I left it there for a whole night).

Please Someone.. PLEASE HELP!

Could it be, that I have a 40GB Japanese PS3. A UK (and a US) account. And I live in India, so I got the game from India.. (all three different region, LOL).. Does this have anything to do with the Blunder that GT5P is causing?

Y'know, this almost translates as 'too lazy to search'. :indiff:
If you had posted this as a reply to an old thread, that thread would have floated to the top with the fresh post and not remained buried.

hmmm... may be, you could use your expertise and precious time in some other matter. This has been a problem with me since almost a YEAR now. Hoping someone or the other probably has the same problem and replies to it. I HAVE done this search before and posted on different threads with similar problems. Although, people either completely ignore it, or JUST DONT BOTHER TO READ what my problem is, and give solutions based on their experience. And yes there are MANY problems with the said update..
I may be too lazy to search, or just plain frustrated and helpless and hoping for someone to give a solution. But you are just too active to jump to conclusions. Why dont you just save it for the future. If you don't have a solution to the problem, dont be THE PROBLEM!

BTW, I am guessing this won't be the last I hear of you, would it?
 
My friend had this problem too. I told him to connect his ps3 directly to the modem instead of having it on wireless and he was then able to download the update.
 
I have tried both, Direct from the Modem and Through a Router (again Wifi AND wired thru the router).. Doesnt Work.
And bevo, yeah I did. It was simple for them. Sony India told me "Just change your ISP". Which I pretty much can't coz this is the best ISP in my area.. :(
One last thing I can now do is take my PS3 to a friend's place and try and download the update thru his ISP. But will my ONLINE work once I get the update done, is the question, coz if I can update but can't play the game online, then all of it goes down the Drain. :(
 
If you have a disc copy of GT5P, that will work offline just fine once you finally get the Spec III update to start and complete.
 
I'd put my money on the Japan, PAL, & NTSC differences. the PS3, game copy, & account should be the same.
you're in india, you should have a japanese version of the ps3 and game, more than likely, so try creating a new psn ID (account), for japanese.

i can't tell you how to check which version any of them are though, sorry.

EDIT: just for extra clarification, i'm saying a japanese update will NOT work on a UK PS3. (or any other mismatches)

A retail game from any region should work on every PS3 with every account.
Never heard about such problems.

Did you try deleting game data?

Nope I have EU PS3, Japan GT5p and it works just fine. 👍

The 'trick' is when download fails to go to GT5p's news section and continue the download
from where it failed, but surely that's in many threats already i don't know ? :odd:

"surprised" really? they cut the differences between continents crap? that's great!
I'd offer him more help, but my download worked great, back in Dec.

Well yeah, they didn't cut it completey tho, it's still in place for stuff like DLC :indiff:
Many people had problems with updating but said 'trick' did for them including me. :)

From the desription OP posted this problem is not the same as the normal download error that using "News" trick resolves. For that to work your download errors and you start again. OP's just hangs with no error.
