Updating taking forever.

Alright, so I got a new PS3 yesterday. I had to get the updates for both MW3 and GT5. MW3 worked fine, and that's up-to-date with no problems.

But... GT5 didn't go over well last night when I set it to download the updates.

Didn't even get through the 1st out of 17 total (WHAT?) updates it needed to do. Is there a way to split them up and not do them in a lump sum? (That, I believe, is why it's taking forever.)

Or do I just need to leave the PS3 on for a few days or so until it finishes? :crazy:
 
Good luck with that.. You have lots of updates to get(some are rather large to). You might be there for a while haha.
 
I'm pretty sure, although i havnt had to mass update in a while. Someone else should chime in soon though.
 
I have found that sometimes I get a slow connection to the server randomly. When that happens, I usually cancel the download, sign out of PSN, and restart my PS3 to try again. I may also reset my router sometimes. In most cases, I get a better connection and the downloads go much faster when I try again.

Also, I recommend cancelling the inital updates and let the game finish completely installing, if you haven't already. This can also help speed up the update process when you restart the game.
 
Well, when my data got messed up, it took over a day to install all the updates. They are big, they take a long time. I think that that is normal. 👍
 
So... I'll see what I can do. And... what do you mean by letting the game finish completely installing?

Not sure, been too freaking long since I've had a PS3 and I forget what I'm doing.
 
I haven't played my game in awhile and popped it in yesterday and it took 4 hours to complete all the updates.
