I was worried that upgrading to new hard drive since the GT5 save files are copy protected.

Overall the change over to the Western Digital Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT 500GB 7200 RPM was pretty painless.. first had to use fat32formatter to get my external HD to be noticed by the PS3.

Everything except the trophies was there like before and they started adding in bit by bit. sweet!

Trophies slowly started to randomly add to the new hard drive? So after awhile they just come back?

yes I also looked at trophies before starting to play the game. They started coming back randomly after getting into GT Mode and during testing a car. I suppose from online connection for the trophies.

putting a 7200 rpm hdd in your ps3 is a very bad idea, especially if you have a fat ps3. they will make your console overheat really quickly, eventually leading to a ylod

Trophies should be Synced with your PSN account. When you first log in on a new harddrive the Sony Servers should give you all the Trophy Data.

Also when I put my 500 gig in it formatted it for me.

...8 more laps of this freakin' Suzuka 1000. Go J.Van Damme!

No np here so far doesn't feel any warmer then before..

nothing wrong here plus that program fat32formatter formats the whole drive to Fat32 not just 30GB like i saw on youtube from windows 7.

you can take the game save if you perform a complete system back-up.

yes used the complete system back-up on a external hard drive. i had to use the program i mentioned above to get the external noticed on PS3.

everything was backed up, including the GT5 theme.. :)

does seem warmer now may have to bore some holes in the top j/k
