USB keyboard - can't write

I can use the Enter to make selections but when try to write something (for example when sending a car or making a friend request) it doesn't work
What am I doing wrong?

Try the X button on the controller then an on-screen keyboard should appear then use your keyboard to type what you want to type. They are some info at the bottom of the on-screen about using shortcuts (line break) after typing your message use the START button on controller to insert what you typed into the text area then down button to go to send.
Note: When you press the START button the on-screen keyboard goes to the letter G (I think) pressing it a second time it will enter it into the message section. You can use a wheel for the START button if you have it programed to a button.

You could try another keyboard if you have any. I use a noname usb keyboard and it works perfect by plug`n play. Enter opens chat during online races, i can type and enter sends the msg. Thats how your keyboard should behave in-game and in general with a PS3.
