There are a couple of these low HP race cars (Civic Si Race '87, Lexus IS200Race Car '04) that you either win or show up in the UCD for fairly cheap prices. They don't have enough power and/or can't be upgraded enough to really compete in the higher level races, but when you race them in races against regular cars at the lower levels, they are overkill.

Other than driving them for practice or just becuase you like the car, I am just wondering what others might use them for?

online, it's quite a popular car class online since it's easy to handle and you can use racing soft without shame.

Match them with road cars with way more power. Just like you would with a Lotus. Handling vs. power, you know...

I often really like those cars :D

It's true that there's not many races they are suited for, then again, that's true for the majority of the cars in GT5 ;)

But yeah, supercar challenge or MR sports (when they are MR), something around that level ought to do...

Also, if they have racing tires, you could fit sport tires (hard ones, even). They are good enough to handle 300ish BHP, but it'll be more challenging than racing slicks.

cars that compete in the N1 class are often my favorites to drive (along with Super GT). they are basically stock, with a few minor racing mods to them. one of the more balanced racing classes available, imo.

I just got GT5 within the last week so I haven't even ventured much into online racing yet. It does seem like it is much harder to find races with similar level cars than it was with GT5P.

Is there something that I am overlooking that will allow me to search for races for certain car types?

I agree and that is why I was wondering about where to race them.

As mentioned.

There are a few cars of this level and it's a way a replicating Touring car races online, most tourng cars have around 300bhp, whereas DTM, JGTC GT500, Le Mans and FIA GT1/2/3 cars have alot more power.

There's a Toyota, Mazda, BMW and Honda Integra available (that I can remember off the top of my head).

With the use of tuning, these cars could possibly race against the JGTC GT300 cars, that also only have 300bhp in stock tune, resulting in a reasonably even race with alot of different cars.

Those cars are great to have your Bob level fast through the lower levels, specially the fwd ones (Civic, Golf GTI RM) - they are powerfull enough to have him beat the field without your help and no "beasts" he couldn't handle.

Over the years I've settled into attacking GT in phases...

Phase 1: Blast through the competition, earning credits and XP en masse...

Phase 2: Use the cash to collect cars in every class to come back to and compete levelly in these previously won races.... early in the game I studied the Apex guide book extensively, targeting those models that would produce proper class races and targeting them in the UCD or dealerships...

Phase 3: Even the Beginners class can produce an exciting race with the proper car...

lol, i bought the 320i and is200 touring cars early on simply because i love that class of racecar. still haven't driven em yet as i'm currently grinding my way to the end of the game. at which time i'll come back and have all my fun. which mazda are you refering to? the mazda6 touring car i think? i'm drawing a blank

I abosultely love these cars. Sadly, more 300 hp online rooms want road cars, so I've only used them a couple of times. They are definately worth buying from the used cars.

The 2 examples I gave are sort of at opposite ends of the beauty spectrum in my opinion. I love the way the Civic drives however. Really nice for a little front driver.

I love that car too! Is it really FF though? I know it's permitted in FF races but I thought I read in the description it was 4WD?

myah, go fast or go home imo

(p.s im not a veyron or X1 fanboy, just cba with going round a track at the pace of Bob)

The Gather Driders, Mugen Motul '87 Civic, Lupo Cup car, Golf GTI RM, Civic Type R RM, mm-R Cup Car, are some of my absolute favorite cars in the game.

You can win races all the way up in to Expert Level with them. You are in 12th coming off the line since they take a while to get going, but you can work your way through the field.

You may not win every race, but you can usually win the cup and it adds a lot of excitement and tension to the very last race, when you know you must finish first and "A.Fuchs" has to finish third or worse for you to win the series...

Can't tell you how many times I've run, Japanese Championship, GT All-Stars, and Polyphony Digital Cup using these cars..

I bought a cheap 4WD Audi ( TT Coupe 3.2 Quattro '07 ) from the dealership that has around 243 HP that I use as a RALLY Car....I initially bought it for Gran Turismo Rally, under Special Events, that limited the HP to 246.....so thats an option as well...One of my favorite cars to use!
