"LUKE YOU'VE TURNED YOUR TARGETING SYSTEM OFF, WHAT'S WRONG?!!!"

Anybody else getting better times now that we can turn most of the HUD off? It seems easier to me for a couple of reasons-

-Focus. Its just easier to focus on what you need to do.

-Peripheral vision. Small as it may be, the amount of space the HUD obstructed seemed to hinder my ability to judge distances.

-Memorizing the car's characteristics quicker. Because I'm not looking at the RPM's or MPH it takes much less time to memorize what audible pitch to shift at, and also how to not force the car to go over its limits.

I know this stuff is probably, "noob, I could do that from the start" but I think it helps improve my lap times faster than usual.

I love it. It definitely immerses you more into the driving experience, removing all the clutter off the screen makes you appreciate the visuals more as well. And in cockpit view, makes you appreciate the amazing level of detail PD put in to making the dash clusters!

Yea, very cool addition and it's a god example of PD listening to their fans.

I think the improved lap times are definitely from having to concentrate a little harder. Without the HUD you really have to keep track of what gear your in and when you should be shifting. Also, you don't have that little flashing red number telling you what gear you should be in coming into a corner.

I'm not sure about anyone else but for me that little flashing number distracts me more than anything. It starts flashing and I sort of panic, wondering if I'm mis-judging the braking distance, and then I end up slowing down way too early.

I've got that "It's about time" feeling. lol. I've been running like this in Forza for the longest and been waiting for GT5 to finally get with it. I honestly didn't think Kay or Kaz whatever his name, would actually let this go. From what I read dude is kinda tight when it comes to certain things. But I'm so relieved we can get rid of it. Took the Lexus Cruising around and it was fun.

I've been waiting for that option since day one.

Haven't played it since the update, but thats going to change tonight. 7 days off in a row ftw.

I'm a third of the way though the Tskuba 4 hr for the second time. I turned it off for the first 75 minutes and then back on just before I was due to pit. My best lap isn't as fast as it was before but in general my times haven't fallen off as much and are more consistent. I have to say it looks pretty too :)
