I really do not understand the used car dealership, It would be so nice to have all the cars in the game in just one place, so you go to Audi and see all the cars availeable Premium and Standart. I am waiting for the Formula Gran Turismo so I can race in its event, I don`t have the money nor the level. In the case I had the money I couldn`t buy when it appears because of the level and if I had the level I couldn´t bit because of the money, so you have to keep playing golded events so the used car dealer ship is changing.

It goes both ways for me. Yes, it is annoying when you need specific cars for races but none are showing up in the used cars section, so you have to wait until they appear. On the other hand, finding that special car that you were looking forward to finally appearing makes buying it that much more rewarding. Stumbling upon a [insert favorite car here] on a random day makes it more exciting than being able to buy it any day of the week.

I also agree with you, yesterday found one of my favourite car, DTM Alfa 2.5 V6 TI, we need some of those for the DTM extreme event, I would`ve bought anyway and it was rewarding, lucky I had the money for that and the NOMAD DIABLO, very nice car I might add.

I hated it in GT4, and now it's back in GT5. Why can't all the cars be available all at once? Not only that, if a car shows up that you want to buy, you need to be the appropiate level for it. So good luck if a rare car shows up that matches your level, and if you have enough credits to buy it. There have been many cars I wanted to buy, but didn't match my level. All the cars should be available at all times in the game. It gets annoying when I have to keep on checking it hoping I find something I like.

I think it's ridiculous that in this game I have to be some certain level to buy a car I used to destroy races with in previous GTs. It's like saying I don't know how to drive it yet. All this leveling stuff is just a way to extend the life of gt mode. Why let me get an S license at level 15 when I can't even enter the extreme hall for another 5 levels??

I like the used car system. It was one of my favourite features in GT4.

That being said, the limitations are much worse in GT5. The issue is more with the level system, though, I would say, and not so much with the used car lot.

I love the used car system. I get in the habit of checking it every 5 races/license tests/special events. 5 is the magic number for a full refresh.

Never go there looking for something specific, if you do you will be disappointed. Go there with a list of cars you would like, and an open mind to others. Make sure you know what cars you may need sometime in the future so you can grab them when they come around. If none of those exist and you want something new, find one that fits your fancy... 2002 Turbo? Sure! Volvo 240 Wagon? Why not! Ford GT350r? Love one!

If you want something specific you are better served going to a dealer. I will agree that there should be a dealer sold car for any race, that way if you don't want to shop bargains/rarer cars you can go snag something at a dealership to keep progressing. Lack of a truck via a dealer is a little frustrating for some, but you can win a Ram for free, or wait for the Toyota in the used cars....it is blazingly fast when lightly modded.

Used car system was the best thing invented when it first came out. Gives you something extra to focus on. Some cool cars pop up which make it more exciting than seeing everything available and just buying it when you need it.

Ive not seen the Volvo 240 yet, I keep checking all the time looking for one!

If you think about that a little, you just answered your own question. Well, not that you actually asked one. But you rebutted your own statement.

It's like saying I don't know how to drive it yet.

Driving a fast car fast doesn't teach you how to drive, even if you don't wreck it. On the other hand, driving a slow car fast teaches you a helluva lot about how to drive. Food for thought.

Because, like it or not, the license tests teach you how to drive; at least if you don't settle for bronze times. Sensing a pattern here? Kaz doesn't want you hopping in a powerful car and using it to destroy slower cars, while developing bad driving habits because you can always rely on power to save you.

It's pretty ridiculous, just need a Formula Gran Turismo to finish A-spec, I guess It'll crop up eventually, just like my Speed 12 did, due to random chance it might never appear on the list or I'll be in a championship and miss it, sucks tbh...

They need to update the used cars menu, its stupid how its setup. Why not just put used cars w/ corresponding dealership but seperate the new from used so at least when you go to the dealership you know your getting just all Nissans, Hondas, Ford, ect.

Thank you for rehashing exactly what the first guy said.

Does anyone know how they randomize the used car lot? I have checked on days that I did not progress and the same cars appeared. I figure it is tied to game play?

I like the idea of having a used car dealership, but from time to time it does suck when you're looking for a specific car and can't find it.

You get 6 new cars every time you enter a race. Bear in mind, you don't have to complete the race, so if you want six new cars in the used lot, just enter any random race and exit back to menu.

I don't know if there's a fixed sequence that cars appear in though, like GT4.

I guess I don't mind the used lot too much, but I do wish the current available list was larger. In GT4 there were two lots, so it wasn't as big of a pain if you were looking for something specific - for example a truck for the truck trophy race.

If it is pure random chance and there are 5 million GT5 users, then guess what? There will be a really REALLY frustrated 5 people who run into the 1,000,000:1 level of BAD luck. There are going to be a LOT of drivers who -never- get the car they need. There will be quite a few whose patience for GT5 runs out before it comes around, and leave the franchise forever. And for good reason IMO.

Leaving game progression to random chance is unacceptable. If it is a deck-of-cards type of random, or multiple deck-of-cards, then I might be okay with it, but if I determine it is -purely- random chance, then I will make sure to dissuade anyone I hear who is considering buying GT5.

There doesn't appear to be any pattern.

I've more than once seen 2 instances of one model in the same color on the list at the same time, if it wasn't random that wouldn't happen, or if it did it would be very poor game design (not an impossibility that it's simply bad design though considering the overall state of the game).

Listen to the Duke!

The used car lot is a bit strange at times, because I have seen it cycle cars that I saw about 8 races ago. Each race is one day to the used lot, so a five race series will net 30 new cars to peruse in the used lots. I've seen the Pescarolo's, Jag Xj13, Audi R10, Camaro LM still awaiting the appearance of the S7 :D, my favorite car from GT4.

Yes, you are right, it is a complete mess, it crashes all the time, all the cars have incorrect handling models, the AI drivers drive backwards...oh wait, hang on...none of this happens because generally speaking, GT5 is a well tested, refined game! Doh.

Well you'll never guess what happened, the Formula Gran Turismo just appeared in the used car lot, how about that for luck, so now I can crack on with my last event.

How much was it? I need to know how many credits I'll need to keep banked up so I can afford the bloody thing when lightning strikes.

I dont now for sure but it seems to me that the cars appeRing are often very similar to the ones u just beaten in a race, ex: i made the gt championship (the one with japanese gt cars endurance thing) and then a lot of castrol supras, nsx raybrig... Apoeared. Tuned cars had 3 ruf as ennemies, i found in the dealer 2 ctr2, a yelliw bird and and the 87 something
Maybe only an impression but maybe not

How much was the Speed 12? Gotta be ready for that beast to show up!

I think a cool way they could have improved the used car lot, was to have all cars accessible, a searchable database where you could find any of the 800+ standards. But rotate the cars every so often so that the cars are not always the same, i.e.; different colors, mileage and price. So maybe one day you find a DC2 in white with 100,000k on the clock for $10k, and another day you find a black one with 75,000k for $12k or something like that.

This gives you the opportunity to purchase a car of your choice when you need, but also lets you search for deals or a specific criteria.

I disagree with it being fun to get some car you've been looking for. As for me, I am pretty much done with the game. I should be able to buy and find what I want. This is like if I was playing Final Fantasy 7, and I was on the third disk but still not given the choice to equip what materia I wanted to use. Sure it might be cool at first being random, but man is it lame when you don't have crap to do anymore. Shouldn't you unlock most at some point? Like seriously.. You just want to race cars you want/like. Game gets uber boring when you're limited so heavily.

I think it should have been done like the Dealership for the Premiums where the cars are listed under Manufacturers. I wanted to get a Holden Monaro (love those cars) but it was one of the first cars available and I wasn't at a level to buy it. Though I own that car now as it turned up again.

I guess I see both sides of the argument. It really just seems like they could have met somewhere in the middle on the used car lot as far as availability. I honestly feel like the cars I wanted were a lot easier to find used on GT4 but I guess it was also repetitive.

What annoys me most about the used car system that there really is no filter for the cars beyond price and when they were added. I wish you could sort by make, year, region and so on. What I think would be cool to see is an autotrader type setup where you can specifiy make and year range (among other options) and have a list of results come up under your qualifications.

Just a thought.
