I drink Peets. You're right, it's better than Starbucks; you're right, it's a little over-roasted. But it's good.

I used to get a really good but cheap espresso bean in my local supermarket, but I forget the name. Then they put a Starbucks booth in and so they dropped everything except Starbucks beans, the heavyweights like Folgers and Maxwell House (bleah), and that gawdawful Millstone swill that I wouldn't feed to pigs.

Sounds like your browser burped and dropped one of the style sheets somewhere, so it's doing the best it can with its defaults.

I tend not to drink "purchased" (i.e. Starbucks etc) coffee, although Flerbizky is right: adding a double espresso to a grande latte does transform the experience.

At work, the coffee is free, but rubbish. But free.

At home, I tend to use Lavazza Qualitata Rosso for everything.

Starbucks is always my first choice. I like caramel macchiatos or frappuccinos (I don't even know if I spelled 'em right... ah well). We have a Seattle's Best at the mall, but I don't like them. I've had drinks there twice and they weren't that great. Sometimes I drink coffee at work, but it's usually in the winter. I put hot chocolate in with it. :)

Despite fostering an extreme distaste for most all coffee, I occasionally drink it to impress people or to get moving when there's no Coca-Cola to be found. I like the frothy, expensive Lattè stuff that's manufactured by Starbucks, but you can buy it at the store.

Straight black for me, although I do like a soy milk latte if I'm out at a cafe.

Question, does black coffee even taste a little odd to you? I just don't understand who could have taste buds that'd prefer staright black coffee. :yuck:

The key is to drink decent coffee. Based on the anecdotes of fellow Australians who have travelled to the US, and on US friends who have visited Australia, the coffee here is much better than in the US.

It's an acquired taste, though. I used to take it white with two up until I was about 20, and then just changed over to black (my mother drank it black) - I'd had a shocking flu, and milk is well known for spreading infection down your throat - and, well, black with two sugars just seemed ridiculous.

Ahh...I've seen the light. ;)

One day, I'm going to Australia. When I do, I'm going to meet up with you. Don't say that I'm not, because it's my plan and I will not stop.

Like I like my women.

Bitter.

Anyway, I drink Starbucks as well. I usually take it with hazelnut flavored creamer when I'm at home. When at work it's Vail Mountain Coffee with milk. It's crap, but like Giles said, it's free.

Never drank coffee until I quit drinking alcohol. Now I drink coffee the way I used to drink alcohol. Damn near 24/7, so I switched to decaf.

Well I realy dont't drink much coffie, mainly because I can't afford 5-7 bucks a day on good coffee. I usually just grab a Red Bull for a quick boost, but when I do drink coffee if it store bought ground crap. I need cream and sugar but if its good coffee shop type coffee then I don't use anything, and my all time fav coffee so for is a hazelnut lata(sorry for the spelling)

So the follow-up question is where can I find good coffee to make at home? Want to surprise the wife with a good cup of coffee in the morning and this might just be it.

Can you guys point me to a place to buy the beans/pre-ground stuff? On-line or otherwise?

Thanks,

AO

Weak, undrinkable bilge is weak, undrinkable bilge, whether you pay for it or not. I have never worked in a place of any size that served drinkable coffee, so I've always had my own beans, grinder, and pot at my desk.

True, and I could do that, but I simply can't be bothered. At home, or on my time generally, I won't put up with rubbish coffee, but at work I'll just deal with it. Besides, I've come up with some quite entertaining concoctions from the vending machine!

My coffee desires are pretty simple. ( I hope the connisuers don't get mad) For the 2 cups I usually have at home, (morning, evening) Folgers' instant is just fine. 2 sugars, splash o' 1/2 n' 1/2. I might have 1-2 cups through the day-evening and Stewarts', a local convience store chain has coffee from Paul de Lima, I'll have the reg. or hazelnut. They both taste fine.
I've been to Starbucks....with friends. Never drank any, I don't know what the hell anyone's talking about!

I'm jealous. I'd put the espresso machine on my desk but it's a bit to large. :p

Duke where do you put your computer?

I have the espresso machine there too, but I don't use it much. Last time I did the valve was open the wrong way and I blew live steam all over my cube. They are on the top of my bookshelf, behind my desk.

A couple of the women have been hanging 'round, soaking up the good java, but usually they kick in some beans once in a while. I certainly don't need any "extracurricular activity", but it's sure easier to take care of a coffe maker than it is a puppy...
;)
