USGP.... where?

Indeed, and there isn't much that can be done to solve that without pushing up costs.

But when costs become less of an issue, I think they should loosen up the engine restrictions and allow different layouts again and engine development. Bring back the V12s and V10s! Then maybe unreliability will come back.

Manual Gearboxes would sort that out. Missed gear shifts used to create overtaking opportunities and damaged engines.

It looked a lot better on camera too, seeing all the gear shifts in the cockpit combined with the gorgeous sound.

Yeah, but how many cars retire these days? Aside from the four wiping out at Les Combes, only two cars retired at Spa for mechanical reasons.

It could be argued that Alonso & Trulli retired due to crash damage too...

but you couldn't use most cities because of the ninety-degree bends.

I dunno, 90 degree turns arn't that bad, a bit of point and squirt never hurt anyone.

I dunno, if America was really serious about hosting an F1 race again, I'm sure they'll find a plot of land and build a larvely track for Bernie to criticise!

Maybe we should let Bernie design the track ... and then get somenoe else when his design proves impossible to build because you cannot bend the laws of reality that way.

"And I want a see through tunnel where the cars drive upside down at 6billion miles per an hour!"

"But.. But Bernie.. That's.."

"I SAID I WANT!"

:scared: Yup.

This track is just great, plenty of elevation changes. Not to mention it's a newer track, being opened in 2003. The Circuit is 2.3 Miles or 3.7 Kilometers long. The track has plenty of room to run off and not stuff it in a wall. Though it's not astro turf or asphalt run off, well some is asphalt. The IRL will be racing here in 2010, the Grand Am series already visits.
The track record for a Daytona Prototype is 1:20:613 by Max Papis in a Ganassi racing DP. I think F1 would lap the circuit with sub 60 second laps perhaps, how much I'm really not sure. The unofficial lap record is 1:09:XXX for a Dalara-Honda IRL car, set by Will Power.

Lapping Barber on board a Radical SR3.

This place seems like it would fit with the European tracks on the schedule, yet has more character than the newer F1 tracks, just lacking in the length department. As I said, the elevation changes are great. Not to mention I'd be able to drive up there in under 9 hours. I really think this track would do the USGP justice, more so than a roval, I really don't like Indy, not one bit.

Does it have F1 level facilitys? No probably not, the paddock may need to be larger, can't be working on cars out in that southern heat:scared:.

Does it have the runoff? Yes, but they like it to be paved.

Will the front the fees to have F1 show up? Highly unlikely.

Would it be a great track to run the USGP on? YES! (IMO)

I think the City Of Austin, Texas could be good, it is a scenic drive, and they could use that toll road which was just built, I have one mapped out, the bad thing is that it is over 15 miles long, but passing, and excitement are not lacking on this circuit.

^That track looks good, but I think it should follow a bit of the Gran Turismo Track.

That track and USF1 being successful would possibly single-handedly bring back major interest in F1 in North America.
Unfortunately, neither look very likely of happening.

Nope, your guess is as good as mine. Peter Windsor is still banging on about getting American drivers, Villuenueve on the BBC F1 coverage said he was "apparently not American enough".
Then I heard De la Rosa and Wurz linked to them and how their factory is apparently a ghost town with only some CAD designs floating about for their car.

It seems (once again) Windsor has talked too much, because we hear a lot from him but see nothing from the team. I have a sneaking suspicion they will make the grid, but how good they will be, I have no clue - it doesn't look good it has to be said though, they are already behind the other 3 new teams in terms of car design, I heard they are apparently hiring degree students to design it? Against the likes of Nick Wirth, Dallara and Mike Gascoyne.....

Seeing as they did say they where going about this process in a different way then normal (cheaper way) moving away from those is probably a smart idea seeing as im sure all 3 would want big pay checks to design a car and hiring students is cheaper. but i belive in the last interview i herd from Windsor he said that they where going to have a rolling chassis by October and a full car by the end of the year ready for the winter testing. so i wouldn't be surprised if the rumors that there was no car yet developed yet are true seeing as Windsor himself said that the agenda was that by mid October the first chassis would start being built. either way expecting alot out of a new team is just grasping at straws brawn just got lucky really that the car was already designed and built already when he bought the team. this was about a month ago on speedtv before one of the races but cant remember which.

Well Cosworth is confirmed as an engine manufacturer, nothing more from what I know, hopefully they decide to go all-american, and don't hire anyone outside of the USA to do work or design on it, arguably it could help out our crap economy, so ya.
