Using Wheel with a clutch makes you faster?!

Well it seems so, using my G25 wheel, having it in H pattern mode kept in 1st gear keeping the clutch pressed in and releasing it at the same time as I press the throttle down for a timed RPM launch then shifting through the rest of the gears using the paddles I was able to get my RX-7 Spirit R to run this time.

No E-cheat was used
No SRF detune was used
No brake tricks was used

I don't have a video, just pictures of what I was able to get my RX-7 to run, this is the only car I have testing it so far. If you have a wheel with a clutch I'd recomend trying this yourself, If you don't will just have to take my word for it.

Now I belive this is the "trick" T51R has been using to get some record braking times.
Now it's upto you as the comminity to decide is this "legit" in my opinion yes it is, real cars have a clutch. I see no way this could be labled as a cheat other than the fact it gives a dissadvantage to DS3 controller only users as there is no way this can be replicated with them.

Discuss your opinions on this find please.

Great observation.

Can you do this online? If not, then it is not a legitimate method 👍

I feel as though it creates an unfair advantage because not everyone can afford it or have one therefore should not be used. That way it creates a level playing field.

I was always under the impression wheels caues input lag.

This.

You have no excuse not to use a DS3 either as pretty much all PS3's come with at least one.

I just tested it with a full throttle black screen launch and it worked, got a time of 9.865 so yes I would asume this does work online swara, but I havn't tested it online.

While I agree it certainly gives a huge dissadvantage to DS3 controller users as long as people are honest when submiting their times using this technique an "*" could be added next to their time on the leaderboad.
Just to clarify i'm not accusing T51R of using this technique in a malicious way to discredit his times, Just that it is certainly a possibility this technique was used.

So your saying with the rx7 there's a .017 difference between ds3 and the wheel....that's huge.

I feel like people won't be honest with it and not everybody wasnt to drop over $200. Also if we continue to find other non legit ways people won't be honest and will be like the old leaderboard were they start using retro launch. Personally I really don't want T5IR "trick" to get out because people will use it and not be honest about that. But also i have found that guys that uses wheels gets treed hard online for some reason.

Online your taking your reaction time plus input lag into account, offline you subconsciously compensate for any input lag because you know exactly when to go on the 0

The only thing I don't like is they have an advantage on the leaderboard. I say theyshouldn't be allowed but you couldn't 100% prove that they are or not using it.

@Mikey

I agree

EDIT:

But then there are those who are down a notch from being fast and use this as an exploit to get fast times and no one will question it's legitimacy because its not an out of whack time either...

Yes but offline leaderboards will get ran up with these. Also depends on who has one also... But idk 1whats gonna happen.

Was thinking the exact same thing slash. Or use slower tune then use wheel to barely beat it.

Here is a super low quality 240p video of me doing a full throttle black screen launch using my G25 wheel and getting a 9.865 My phone is old as hell, sony erricson w810i

Hopefully it's clear enough to see the numbers. I couldn't film my self doing the actual run, cause I only have 2 hands and no one else to film for me. So I film at the end of the run, showing the time sheet come up then exit out and show SRF is off, then I show a replay from the back of the car to show no brake lights or e-brake is used.

Im also no sure how important the use of the clutch at launch is, as doing a run just using the paddle shifters from full throttle black screen launch I was able to get it to run 9.881 - 9.888 and with a DS3 doing a full throttle black screen launch gets me a time around 9.907

I'm not sure why but using a wheel, in my case the G25 will get faster times full stop.

Also i should mention when using a wheel it is almost impossible to keep it dead straight, slight weaving left and right, so using a wheel when online could annoy alot of other players if you can't keep your car straight enough and bump into the guy beside you

Try it with the GTR 09 Plz:) also how much did your wheel cost you?

Almost .030 faster. If this does work online then it is unfair, and will havr a lot of arguements and controversy about it. Hopefully this doesn't get out too much.

@hyper i looked it up and the new version is $250 and the G25 is $200 on amazon.

Thanks mich:) might have to have one lol.

Yah I know but idk... so many ways to get faste now. Probably have to ban it from comps in the future because of that reason.

All I know is:

All my tmes do not have any cheat. I use a DS3 to tune AND drive. And you know what? I'm happy with that.

Just my two cents.

I guess it was something in the last couple updates, didn't they tweak the clutch physics for the wheel controllers? We would've discovered this sooner you'd think if it wasn't due to the update.

A ps3 cost more and they one so i think they could afford a steering wheel:tup::)

I bet the Black edition could get under 8.900 with that.

I feel it shouldn't be aloud.

I own a lot of things more expensive that a ps3 but I still can't afford a wheel either right now. Gotta keep the bills paid :) no money for extra luxuries.

Well $50 more for a 500gb. But I think that everyone is start using wheels. i have found ways to improve your ssrx times by doing weird things that only work offline but i keep it to myself because stuff like this is ruining the drag community its like its better that no one knows this. Now everyone wants to get one or start using it and screwing up the drag racing on GT5. No offense maccer but there isn't really a point to posting this. All its gonna do is have more noobs use it and post times in leaderboards and make drag racing harder for not having a wheel. I think it was somewhat uneeded.
