v1.05 Update

I'm a Gran Turismo vet, but am new to the PS3 platform, so if at all possible, can someone explain the steps for downloading this update, and for backing up my already played data? Thanks.

Note to Mods: If this question has been answered elsewhere( tho I haven't found it in "Search" function) please direct me to the source.

Downloading the update is very straight forward... simply start the game, and it will ask you to download the update. All done automatically from there on.

To back up your save file, from your PS3 main menu find the 'game' collumn, scroll up a few places and find 'Saved Data Utility (PS3)'. Find the GT5 file, press triangle, select copy, and then select where you wish to save it to (a usb memory stick being the most common option).

Ah, sorry yes it does, i maybe should have stated that. Either connected physically or via a wireless soloution.

Im also under the impression that if you are really unable to connect your PS3 to the internet, updates can be downloaded to a PC, transferred via some intermediary device (USB stick again?), and then transferred to the console that way. But it seems VERY inconvenient, and ive never done it so wouldnt have a clue how.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering about the USB method, but can't seem to find the file to download.

Are you asking if you can download the 1.05 patch onto a USB drive, and install it onto the PS3? If so, I don't think that is possible.

You can download all official ps3, psp firmware updates straight to a flash drive via the official sony website, or the PlayStation blog.
I may have misread but game updates do not apply. Those are only prompted while console is logged in and Connected online.

I don't think he is talking about the PS3 firmware update, he is talking about the GT5 patch. I don't believe you can download the patch onto a flash drive.

And off topic, I live a few miles outside of Lousiville, in Oldham County. Might have seen you around before. 👍
