If I had the money
I did a search and didn't see anything about this.

The V8 Supercars will be racing in Austin starting 2013. Finally, I've always wanted to see them race, now I just have to put up with the 100+ degree weather in Texas.

Australian V8 Supercars Series officials have agreed to a five-year deal to hold races at a racetrack under construction southeast of Austin beginning in 2013, circuit officials along with Gov. Rick Perry said today.

I just love having a race track of this caliber so close to me! I get to see such a broad variety of international racing series'!

I may have to make a camping trip to outside of Texas. :D --- Randy

I remember talk of it, but this is the first confirmation I've read of it. I'm glad to see this great series making a visit State-side. It's just a shame Speed does such a lousy job of covering it. (They may not bother covering a V8 Supercar race at all, but if they find an empty spot in their programming and run out of infomercials or reruns of Pinks or whatever nonsense to plug in there, they may insert a highlight reel. There's actually a race airing this weekend on Speed, but it still won't be a full race, but rather will skip around like always.)

^Yeah, Although I hate the V8 series with good reason, I thought it was nice that they are getting this added to their calendar, and then I read they signed the broadcast rights with Speed and I facepalmed.
I thought maybe it would be better to 'give the full flavour' and broadcast the Australian camera's footage and commentating, or perhaps they are doing that and Speed will just be passing it on.

Trust me when I say that it's well worth it.

Normally, I'd agree, but having moved from Scotland, where the summers are like a cold day in oz, to Toronto where the summers are a lot hotter and more humid, I've realized I physically couldn't stand the temperature in Austin.

It all depends on when they hold the race. If it's in the spring or fall, then don't worry about the temps. Expect 60's to high 70's if that's the case; very comfortable weather. I'm sure the V8 Supercar big wigs are thinking the same thing.

That's not so bad Astros. If that is the case, I might combine it with my dream trip to NY. I've met a lot of friendly Texans over the years, and I've always wanted to go to a real Texas Steakhouse.

Why, did all the drivers gang bash you or something? Perhaps Cochrane sent you abusive letters? How could anyone have a good reason to hate a racing series? Personal preference isn't a good reason, it's just a reason.

Well Speed already has an Austrailian Commentator: Leigh Diffey. That guy does an outstanding Job on the Sportscar broadcasts (and the fact that he has commentating on this series before) so he would work. If this race takes place during an NASCAR off weekend, Maybe Ambrose could also be apart of that deal as well. Oh and why the facepalm? We may finally will have a V8 Supercar race thats live (not tape delayed) and if you are well aware of Speed's Fox-forced bias towards NASCAR, You'd see why this is a welcome change for some of us that get tired of four damn shows covering only NASCAR.

^^^ We know that. What we're discussing is how they will cover it, and with which announcers.

Sorry, I read 'may' in the post above mine.

My comment was a bit bad, but I thought that the V8 supercars was a series based and raced in Australia, so I thought that it should be like the BTCC and stay in one country.
Then I realised that the DTM is the German touring cars which visits lots of countries.
So as I said before I'm sorry to anyone offended.

That's one of the stupidest things I've ever read...
