I have only seen a couple, one was on the motorway and i think one lives in a neighbouring village. I have seen it , a black VXR, a couple of times driving around the said village (staplehurst) now.

I also agree that the last thing the vectra needs is a power hike, the phrase "You cant polish a turd" springs to mind whenever Vauxhall announces that they are going to try and "improve" the vectra

Spec....

Who in their right mind would want a 280PS Vectra?

Our most-powerful US-Vectra is pushing 255 BHP through the front wheels, but most of the other ones make do with a 240 BHP variant for their "sporty" model.

If you want silly, both Pontiac and Chevrolet offer full-size FWD sedans with a 303 BHP 5.3L V8. Amazingly, they can actually handle well enough to match many of the other cars in their class, and are even good for a 150+ MPH sprint.

(Chevrolet Impala SS)

In relationship to the Vectra, these two cars are a bit closer to a Chrysler 300, but sit pretty well between the two cars overall.

Your Vectra isn' the same car as ours though is it?

I was referring to the Cheverolet Vectra which I think is a different car all together to our Vectra.

Chevrolet Vectra= Also Vauxhall Vectra

The Grand Prix GXP handling could be described as "passable", but the Impala doesn't benefit from many of the W-body improvements (like the wides-and-skinnies tire sizing) that went into the GXP. It is a poor performer at best.

Also, as far as I know we don't get a Chevrolet Vectra; our midsize is the Malibu.

On the average* flat, smooth, wide and straight US road torque-steer probably isn't quite the issue that is over here. If you guys get a Chevy/Saturn version at some point it will probably be a half-decent car.

* - Yes, a stereotype, but a valid one i think.

Agreed entirely.

The very first thing it needs is a trip to a car crusher, and the chief designer and engineers to be shot in the face.

This is the most true thing ever said by someone about a Vectra. Seriously I drove a pretty new rental one and god it was horrible, the seats gave me backache in like 10 minutes, the interior was horrible, the gearbox and clutch were ****e, it handled like well it didn't handle well realy. The only good thing was the engine was pretty decent, I think it was a 2.0 ecotec.

Do any of the Brits here actually see Monaros frequently or at all? I'm pretty sure I've never seen one.

I don't know why, but reading this thread has made me wonder why we need so much power from these cars. Both are easily capable of getting you a driving ban if you push them, so why are they giving them even more power?

I haven't seen that many, I used to work with a guy who owned one of the first Vauxhall monaros in the country. Also I can't belive you are asking why it needs all that power, the answer is simple HOONING thats why it's good for hooning. If you don't know what hooning is please consult an Australian person.

For what they are they are pretty damn cheap (compared to it's competition), fun and the LS series engines are easy to get more power out of. It's a car that I will probably want to own in a few years time.

Acutally these are the Chevrolet Vectras, the Malibu and Malibu Maxx (both show in top-line SS form):

The regular Malibu rides on the same size chassis as the rest of the Vectras from around the world, but the Maxx (wagon), Pontiac G6, and Saturn Aura all ride on slightly longer versions of the same platform... The Saturn using the most Vectra parts as compared to its other American siblings...

 True true.

I am suprised HSV havent offered the VXR Vectra yet.
